By the late 1970s the prehistoric sequence of the Papuan coast was perhaps the best known in Melanesia. This was a product of the establishment in 1969 of archaeology at the University of Papua New ...Guinea and a succession of doctoral theses from the Australian National University (ANU). By this time data informing this sequence were known from excavations right along the south Papuan coast and Massim area (see Figure 1 and Table 1).
A subsequent shift of interest at the ANU to island Melanesia and the parallel growth of Lapita studies has seen the archaeology of mainland Papua languish,
Pleistocene dates from three cave sites indicate the human capacity to colonise across two oceanic straits to the east of a former Tasmania-Australia-New Guinea continent by 33 kyr BP. The sites ...demonstrate exploitation of costal marine and lowland tropical forest resources. They extend Pleistocene occupation into island Melanesia and demonstrate that the large islands of northern Melanesia have an antiquity of human occupation of the same order as the adjacent Greater Australian continent.

Objective. Pre‐eclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication causing both fetal and maternal distress. Proteinuria is a diagnostic criterion frequently determined by albuminuria. We determined the ...protein excretion pattern of additional proteins, immunoglobulin G, transferrin, α1‐microglobulin and β2‐microglobulin, in urine samples collected prospectively during pre‐eclamptic and healthy pregnancies. Design. A prospective cohort study of 1 631 consecutive pregnant women. Setting. A Danish regional hospital. Sample. Thirty‐two women with pre‐eclampsia and 185 healthy control women were identified from the cohort. Urine samples were obtained from the 18th week until delivery and divided into six gestational intervals. Methods. Protein analyses of urine immunoglobulin G, transferrin, α1‐microglobulin and β2‐microglobulin were done with a sandwich ELISA method. Main Outcome Measures. Urine levels of specific proteins during pre‐eclamptic and healthy pregnancies. Results. Immunoglobulin G and transferrin were significantly increased in pre‐eclampsia after the 30th week of pregnancy. α1‐Microglobulin and β2‐microglobulin were differently excreted and found to be higher after the 36th week of pregnancy in pre‐eclampsia, but only α1‐microglobulin increased significantly. Conclusions. Immunoglobulin G, transferrin, α1‐ and β2‐microglobulin excretion patterns indicate initial glomerular damage followed by altered tubular handling of proteins.
"The relationship between higher education and employment is commonly interpreted in terms of the extent to which the higher education sector is providing graduates with the knowledge and skills to ...match employment needs. It is assumed that a mismatch between working in a job and level or field of education limits the use of skills, with adverse effects on both productivity and earnings. This article examines this assumption on the basis of five countries from the European graduate survey (CHEERS data). Although the analysis shows that educational and skill mismatches are indeed related, mismatches by no means imply mismatches between available and required knowledge and skills. The results indicate that traditional approaches of mismatches have to be adapted to more flexible forms of relationships between higher education and work." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku).
