A new geometric way of understanding a beautiful, but little-known fact, concerning Isaac Newton's transmutation of central force fields by means of complex mappings is presented.
The various formulae for expressing a harmonic function in the interior of a planar region in terms of its values on the boundary are presented and discussed.
