Denne ide om fortidens uvidenhed eller ignorance er udgangspunkt for artiklens undersøgelse af en lokal losseplads i Tømmerup på Vestsjælland mellem 1961 og 1980. Med fokus på en lille losseplads undersøger artiklen, hvordan uvidenhed og belejlighed spillede ind i den tidlige fase af affaldshåndtering i Danmark.

A modo de aproximación a un momento literario en Argentina, proponemos un breve recorrido por diferentes formas de resistencias o de exilios de mujeres poetas entre 1960 y 1990. Esta es una escritura ...que da cuenta de la pérdida de un territorio, de un suelo -social, emocional, geográfico- y de un duelo personal que acompaña y vence el silencio y el duelo y hace de la palabra un lugar de memoria y de expresión de subjetividades fuertemente marcadas por lo que teóricamente se denomina “identidades de género”. Trataremos de nombrar en esta breve presentación a algunas poetas que, viviendo fuera del país por razones políticas o circunstancias personales, o viviendo en una especie de exilio interior, encontraron modos de armar nuevas partidas poéticas. Muchos de los libros han sido escritos durante la dictadura o en sus bordes y casi todos ellos fuera de la tierra propia. Nos detenemos en la obra de Juana Bignozzi, exiliada en Barcelona entre 1974 y 2004.

Habré, the former despot of Chad, had terrorized, tortured, and
killed on a horrific scale over eight bloody years in power-all
...while enjoying full American and Western support. After Habré's
overthrow, his victims and their supporters were determined to see
him held responsible for his atrocities. Their quest for justice
would be long, tense, and unnerving, but they would not back down.
To Catch a Dictator is a dramatic insider's account of the
hunt for Habré and his momentous trial. The human rights lawyer
Reed Brody recounts how he and an international team of
investigators, legal experts, and victims worked across three
continents to unearth evidence and witnesses, petition courts and
skeptical governments, and rally public opinion. They faced many
obstacles and constant threats. One of Brody's Chadian colleagues
was gravely injured in a bomb attack, and another had to seek
asylum in the United States. Habré fought back bitterly, drawing on
secret bank accounts and extensive political connections to
preserve his life of luxurious exile. Yet Brody and his allies
ultimately triumphed: Habré became the first former head of state
to be convicted of crimes against humanity in the courts of another
country. This fast-paced, suspenseful book shows that there is
nothing inevitable about the impunity that too often protects the
powerful and that even the worst tyrants can be brought to justice.
The book also features a foreword by Jacqueline Moudeïna, the lead
lawyer for Hissène Habré's victims, who received the Right
Livelihood Award (the "alternative Nobel Peace Prize") in 2011.
From the 1960s through the 1990s, the most common job for women in
the United States was clerical work. Even as college-educated women
obtained greater opportunities for career advancement, ...occupational
segregation by gender remained entrenched. How did feminism in
corporate America come to represent the individual success of the
executive woman and not the collective success of the secretary?
Allison Elias argues that feminist goals of advancing equal
opportunity and promoting meritocracy unintentionally undercut the
status and prospects of so-called "pink-collar" workers. In the
1960s, ideas about sex equality spurred some clerical workers to
organize, demanding "raises and respect," while others pushed for
professionalization through credentialing. This cross-class
alliance pushed a feminist agenda that included unionizing some
clerical workers and advancing others who had college degrees into
management. But these efforts diverged in the 1980s, when
corporations adopted measures to move qualified women into their
upper ranks. By the 1990s, corporate support for professional women
resulted in an individualistic feminism that focused on the needs
of those at the top. Meanwhile, as many white, college-educated
women advanced up the corporate ladder, clerical work became a job
for lower-socioeconomic-status women of all races. The Rise of
Corporate Feminism considers changes in the workplace
surrounding affirmative action, human resource management,
automation, and unionization by groups such as 9to5. At the
intersection of history, gender, and management studies, this book
spotlights the secretaries, clerks, receptionists, typists, and
bookkeepers whose career trajectories remained remarkably similar
despite sweeping social and legal change.
This paper examines the residential location and school choice responses to the desegregation of large urban public school districts. We decompose the well documented decline in white public ...enrollment following desegregation into migration to suburban districts and increased private school enrollment and find that migration was the more prevalent response. Desegregation caused black public enrollment to increase significantly outside of the South, mostly by slowing decentralization of black households to the suburbs, and large black private school enrollment declines in southern districts. Central district school desegregation generated only a small portion of overall urban population decentralization between 1960 and 1990.
Hace treinta años que siete jesuitas fueron asesinados en El Salvador. Su líder, Ignacio Ellacuría (1930-1989), fue un sacerdote de marcada y profunda espiritualidad. Al tiempo dio origen a una ...tradición de pensamiento filosófico-teológico. Al seguir una tendencia que también se observa en otras disciplinas, esta escuela ha venido a apreciar cada vez más cómo la dimensión de la espiritualidad es importante para su trabajo, sobre todo, en lo que respecta al tratamiento del tema de la trascendencia. En diciembre de 2019, un grupo de académicos se reunió en la Universidad Loyola Andalucía, en el marco del simposio “Espiritualidad, saberes y universidad”, y exploró esta cuestión del papel de la espiritualidad en el pensamiento de Ellacuría.El artículo que aquí se presenta incluye fragmentos que presenté en aquella conferencia. Se limitan a comentar secciones presentes en las fuentes escritas de Ellacuría, tal como fueron publicadas en la colección de ensayos Escritos teológicos. Aquí se estudia la explicación pastoral que Ellacuría hace del término “espiritualidad”, el campo semántico empleado para referirse a “lo espiritual”, y el protagonismo en el pensamiento de Ellacuría de las nociones de historia realizada y espiritualidad liberadora. El artículo relaciona la espiritualidad de Ellacuría con los urban studies, dado que las ciudades se han convertido en un contexto teológico. Señala que, aunque la vida en la ciudad proporcionó gran parte del contexto para la reflexión de Ellacuría no cuenta con las características espirituales de vivir en una ciudad explícitamente. No cae en cuenta de cómo la teología y la espiritualidad que propone pueden comprometerse con y beneficiarse del impacto distintivo de la realidad urbana y de sus posibilidades.Esta contribución intenta explicar dicha deficiencia, para que el pensamiento de Ellacuría sea puesto en relación con la vida urbana y sea haga más concreto. Para ello encuentra aspectos del pensamiento de Ellacuría revisables: el uso de algunos pasajes bíblicos, el uso de ideas agustinianas sobre la ciudad; y su comprensión teológica y formal del “carisma”. Por último, este texto invita a los investigadores a reconocer que la obra de Ellacuría puede constituir una base, aunque limitada, para el desarrollo posterior de diversos temas.
Estimates of democracy's effect on the public sector are obtained from comparisons of 142 countries over the years 1960–90. Based on three tenets of voting theory – that voting mutes policy ...preference intensity, political power is equally distributed in democracies, and the form of voting processes is important—we expect democracy to affect policies that redistribute, or economically favor the political leadership, or enhance efficiency. We do not find such differences. Instead democracy is correlated with policies that limit competition for public office. Alternative modeling approaches emphasize the degree of competition, and deemphasize the form or even existence of voting processes.
