The application of generalized and fractional derivatives, such as Caputo and Riemann–Liouville derivatives, has witnessed a dramatic increase in recent years. This reprint focuses on related ...theoretical and applied research in areas such as the stability of time series, Lotka–Volterra systems, distributed delays, Fornberg–Whitham equations, abstract evolution and fractional wave equations, cantilever beams, and fractional Riccati and Volterra equations, as well as fractional visco-elasto-plasticity, spectral theory for fractional Sturm–Liouville problems, generalized differential equations, Mittag–Leffler functions, and fractional Laplacians.
Using Mellin-Barnes contour integrals, we aim at suggesting a q-analogue (q-extension) of the several variable Aleph-function. Then we present Riemann Liouville fractional q-integral and ...q-differential formulae for the q-extended several variable Aleph-function. Using the q-analogue of the Leibniz rule for the fractional q-derivative of a product of two basic functions, we also provide a formula for the q-extended several variable Aleph-function, which is expressed in terms of an infinite series of the q-extended several variable Aleph-function. Since the three main formulas presented in this article are so general, they can be reduced to yield a number of identities involving q-extended simpler special functions. In this connection, we choose only one main formula to offer some of its particular instances involving diverse q-extended special functions, for example, the q-extended I-function, the q-extended H-function, and the q-extended Meijer’s G-function. The results presented here are hoped and believed to find some applications, in particular, in quantum mechanics.
This article discusses a case that began with the publishing of El Aleph engordado, by Pablo Katchadjian. The author was sued by Maria Kodama, the widow of Jorge Luis Borges and owner of his ...copyrights. The case then gained notoriety with the creation of the Facebook page “Apoyo a Pablo Katchadjian” and with the metadata tag #JoBorges, used in the movement in Katchadjian’s defense. The article discusses the appropriation of Borges’ text by Katchadjian, as well as the way that both authors’ work begin to circulate in digital platforms. Finally, taking into account the circulation of literary material in digital contexts, this essay reflects on the way the concept of authorship, author and work can be understood in the present context.

D'Emic explores the mental health courts which represent an alternative approach to criminal defendants living with mental illness. They provide an alternative to incarceration, seeking to use the ...authority of the court for the betterment of those appearing before it. By using principles of therapeutic jurisprudence, they attempt to achieve two separate but interrelated outcomes, improved psychiatric stability for the court's participants and improved public safety, by linking offenders with mental health treatment. The Brooklyn Mental Health Court is the first mental health court in New York . Officially opened in October 2002, it will soon mark its seventeenth year and anticipates its thousandth graduate before the end of 2019. The promise of such a court in the state began with Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye, a compassionate proponent of problem-solving justice, as evidenced by the availability of drug treatment, community, and, most recently, opioid courts around the state.
In this paper, the connection between a finally compact, pceudocompact, extremely disconnected,
-space and its hyperspace is studied. The action of functors
on finally compact, pceudocompact, ...extremely disconnected and
-spaces is investigated. Some topological properties of uniformly space and its hyperspace is studied. It is proved: if the uniform space
is uniformly paracompact, then
is uniformly paracompact. It is also shown: if the uniform space
is uniformly
-paracompact, then a uniform space
is uniformly
-paracompact.
The purpose of this study is to offer a systematic, unified approach to the Mellin-Barnes integrals and associated special functions as Fox H, Aleph ℵ, and Saxena I function, encompassing the ...fundamental features and important conclusions under natural minimal assumptions on the functions in question. The approach’s pillars are the concept of a Mellin-Barnes integral and the Mellin representation of the given function. A Sinc quadrature is used in conjunction with a Sinc approximation of the function to achieve the numerical approximation of the Mellin-Barnes integral. The method converges exponentially and can handle endpoint singularities. We give numerical representations of the Aleph ℵ and Saxena I functions for the first time.
SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests generally report only binary (positive or negative) outcomes. Quantitative PCR tests can provide epidemiological information on viral transmission ...patterns in populations. SARS-CoV-2 transmission patterns during India's SARS-CoV-2 viral waves remain largely undocumented. We analyzed 2.7 million real-time PCR testing records collected in Mumbai, a bellwether for other Indian cities. We used the inverse of cycle threshold (Ct) values to determine the community-level viral load. We quantified wave-specific differences by age, sex, and slum population density. Overall, PCR positivity was 3.4% during non-outbreak periods, rising to 23.2% and 42.8% during the original (June-November 2020) and Omicron waves (January 2022), respectively, but was a surprisingly low 9.9% during the Delta wave (March-June 2021; which had the largest increase in COVID deaths). The community-level median Ct values fell and rose ~7-14 days prior to PCR positivity rates. Viral loads were four-fold higher during the Delta and Omicron waves than during non-outbreak months. The Delta wave had high viral loads at older ages, in women, and in areas of higher slum density. During the Omicron wave, differences in viral load by sex and slum density had disappeared, but older adults continued to show a higher viral load. Mumbai's viral waves had markedly high viral loads representing an early signal of the pandemic trajectory. Ct values are practicable monitoring tools.

In the study of religion and terrorism, one of the most familiar incidents is the Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system in 1995. With the execution of Shoko Asahara and his close associates in ...the summer of 2018, it would appear that the last chapter in this tragic tale has finally been written. I would argue, however, that there are still lessons to be learned from this event. In the present article, I describe the complexity of the epistemic situation in which I found myself when I finally met AUM Shinrikyo in the spring of 1995. In addition to misunderstandings arising from monolithic inferences regarding AUM’s membership, I came to feel that certain anomalous items of information were swept under the rug—information that hinted at a more complex array of factors influencing AUM Shinrikyo and the subway attack.
In this paper I develop a philosophical account of actual mathematical infinity that does not demand ontologically or epistemologically problematic assumptions. The account is based on a simple ...metaphor in which we think of indefinitely continuing processes as defining objects. It is shown that such a metaphor is valid in terms of mathematical practice, as well as in line with empirical data on arithmetical cognition.
