As architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) practices become broadly mediated by computational methods, this article considers the modes of precarity implied for the architect adopting BIM ...as a medium of modelling and design. Situating the computational apparatus as a prosthesis to the BIM-architect, the article outlines the degree of agency configured for operators of BIM applications while they utilize the structures and methods of software pre-programmed by the application’s original developers. Exploring the structures of Autodesk Revit’s database via the Application Programming Interface (API), the paper interrogates the rationale and logic of building encoded by the program through a reading of its operative code in textual form. Situating an interplay between the Revit-architect and application, who programmes a building model while their intention and conceptualization is programmed in turn, the conditions of precarity installed for the Revit-architect as operator are considered as a result of their limited capacity to modify the programme’s operative methods. Drawing from a political history of technology to interrogate the distributed agency between the Revit-architect and technical apparatus, the article ultimately explores how the architect might adopt the phenomenal experience codified by the procedural operations of algorithms through alternative means. It concludes by drawing from autoethnographic practice and situated experiences at the site of the author’s studios, offering material from which to construct an alternative and differentiated notion of algorithm-aided modelling and design according to a nuanced attention to the depth of building.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a supporting software of the fourth phase of the industrial revolution in Indonesia in the construction sector is a digital technology mode to increase the ...efficiency and accuracy of construction work to avoid mistakes during the planning to the implementation period. This study uses the Autodesk Revit application to provide the output of working drawings, 3D modeling, and calculate the volume and cost of work carried out in the Dean building of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Semarang. The purpose of this study is to determine the advantages and disadvantages of using Autodesk Revit for planning the Dean building of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Semarang. The results of this study are the advantages of using Autodesk Revit for building modeling, including providing convenience with design integration in one application, and avoiding crashes between designs. Autodesk Revit also has weaknesses, such as the need for high hardware specifications on the device, high license prices, the application it is necessary to create a new material family according to the design and size required, Autodesk Revit cannot calculate the preparatory work because the calculation of the volume and cost of Autodesk Revit work is limited to data input.

Thailand has set criteria called Building Energy Code (BEC) for building energy conservation). It is set OTTV as a standard value. Only the total amount of heat transferred through the walls in each ...direction of the building is considered. However, this approach cannot indicate the energy consumption needs and consider additional building improvement costs to meet the standard. This study presents the building improvement guidelines for reducing energy consumption by considering the changing construction costs to determine the efficiency of the cost’s impact and the changing energy values. These are the variables describing the interest for each alternative in terms of efficiencies and investment worthiness. Therefore, the building modelling created by Autodesk Revit and DesignBuilder is used to analyse the energy value, which needs calibration for Base Case Modelling. For the calibration, the past-3-year electricity consumption of the building is used, and the retroactive electricity value equals 55,920 kWh/year. In addition, comparing the energy consumption values obtained from the models, its value is 59,321 kWh/year, showing that the difference is only 5.73% before using the models to create the alternative cases. In this study, two alternative guidelines for decision-making of the building improvements are presented: (1) changing the building envelope from a single-layer to a double-layer brick wall, (2) adding the PU foam insulation and covering with gypsum board. The values of both alternatives regarding the effects on costs and changing energy consumption are 3.67 and 3.43 Wh/year/Bath, respectively. To conclude, the efficiency of the alternatives is quite similar, resulting in more remarkableness for the building improvement options. Thus, this can be used as a guideline for making decisions about building improvements in the future.
Technological developments, especially in the construction sector, have developed rapidly. The construction industry is one of the activities that consume energy, resources, and affects the ...environment. Therefore it is important to increase innovation and solutions to achieve sustainability standards. Several efforts were made to maintain environmental sustainability against global problems, namely the selection of building materials through an analysis of the impact of building materials on the environment called a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). In this study, two types of curtain wall system materials, type (A), reinforced concrete, final coating, and type (B) brick, reinforced concrete, ceramic, and mortar will be compared. The method used in the completion of this research is a full building supply system in one way, namely the collaboration between Autodesk Revit and Tally which will then be analyzed again. The first step is to determine the type of material by calculating the total material requirements to be used or by modeling the building using Autodesk Revit. From the total volume of material that will be analyzed the impact of the building life cycle based on ISO 14040. The final objective of this research is to get the best alternative from the second material above. The results of the analysis supported the type (B) material which has a smaller effect than the type (A) material on the main environment that regulates global.
The laggard integration of digital technologies in the construction industry has seen to delay the sector in realizing its potential advantages. Using Virtual reality (VR) in the construction has the ...capacity to augment the interpretation of structural drawings. Comparing VR using head mounted display (HMD) devices with traditional 2D drawings in identifying structural mistakes in construction drawings has been conducted with engineering students enrolled in a concrete structures course. The findings show that the HMD VR group was able to identify 40% more mistakes in comparison to the traditional group in addition to the increase in efficiency and speed of detection of five minutes. The use of VR within engineering education can potentially increase the pace of digital technology’s adaption in the construction sector.
Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan e-modul pada mata kuliah menggambar teknik di Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan agar mahasiswa dapat meningkatkan pemahaman tentang BIM dan ...penggunaan software Autodesk Revit. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model penelitian ADDIE. (1) Menganalisis, menyebarkan kuesioner analisis kebutuhan; (2) Merancang, melaksanakan desain konsep, tampilan, dan materi e-modul; (3) Pengembangan realisasi dan validasi e-modul; (4) Pelaksanaan, dilakukan ujicoba terbatas dan penyebaran angket respon mahasiswa; (5) Evaluasi, mengolah hasil uji coba dan hasil tanggapan mahasiswa. Hasil validasi ahli media sebesar 83% (sangat layak). Hasil validasi ahli teori sebesar 91% (sangat layak). Hasil tanggapan mahasiswa sebesar 79% (layak). Nilai signiffikansi (2-tailed) uji t sebesar 0,017, hal ini menunjukkan adanya perubahan antara hasil pre-test dan hasil post-test. Kemudian, nilai t hitung sebesar -3,292 yang berarti perubahannya signifikan. Kata kunci: e-modul, BIM, autodesk revit, gambar teknik. Abstract This research was aimed to develop e-modules on Drawing Engineering Course at Building Engineering Education Study Program so that college students can improve their understanding about BIM and the use of Autodesk Revit Software. The research method used Research and Development (R&D) with ADDIE research model. (1) Analyze, distributed needs analysis questionnaires. (2) Design, carryed out concept design, display, and e-modules material. (3) Development, realized and validated e-modules. (4) Implementation, conducted limited trials and distributed college student response questionnaires. (5) Evaluation, processed the results of trials and the results of college student responses. The result of media expert validation was 83% (very decent). The result of theory expert validation was 91% (very decent). The results of college student responses was 79% (decent). The significance value (2-tailed) of t test was 0.017 it indicated there were changes between the result of pretest and the result of post test. Unconventional sources of energy like solar are not only green but sustainable too. Adopting sustainable sources of energy is a futuristic approach. Working in similar directions in current ...research, paper authors analyzed and modeled various aspects of an institutional building for solar energy suitability and efficiency by using Autodesk Revit software solar Plugin 2021. The various aspects of solar analysis such as sun path, PV potential and solar radiation value are observed and recorded. After ranging the different criteria like PV surface coverage and PV efficiency the mean energy cost tends to be reduced. Authors observed that the energy cost got reduced to 18.8$ from 24.3$.
University buildings have high energy requirements due to their size, numerous users, and activities, which considerably contribute to environmental contamination. Implementing energy-saving ...solutions in these structures has a favorable influence on the economics and the conservation of energy resources. A higher education building’s energy behavior can be simulated using software to identify the optimal strategies that result in energy savings. In this research, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Insight, and Green Building Studio are among the programs utilized to examine the energy efficiency of the university building in four European cities. Following the development of several energy-saving scenarios for the building, the offered solutions are evaluated based on their annual energy consumption, energy costs, and CO2 emissions. Finally, multicriteria analysis techniques such as the AHP and PROMETHEE are applied to choose the best scenario for each instance. The study’s findings indicate that the ASHRAE Terminal Package Heat Pump scenario performed well in all of the cities examined, reducing yearly energy usage by 43.75% in Wien and annual energy costs by 47.31% in Mallorca. In comparison, the scenario utilizing a high-efficiency VAV system with a gas boiler and chiller came in last in all situations, resulting in a decrease of 12.67% in Mallorca’s annual energy usage and a reduction of 17.57% in Palermo’s annual energy expenses.
