This article explores how novice researchers develop a scholarly identity as they cross geographic, cultural, institutional, identity, and methodological borders throughout their studies, ...experiencing insider, outsider, and in-betweener positions. It hypothesizes that researchers become more culturally proficient through their fieldwork and self-study. The autoethnographic narratives address the social justice issues encountered by two early career researchers who increased their cultural proficiency and self-awareness as they moved across multiple cultural contexts. By shifting back and forth between insider, outsider, and in-betweener, the researchers became more culturally proficient, developed their voices as researchers, and practiced inclusivity by amplifying marginalized voices. Their self-reflective analysis of autoethnographic writing speaks to early career and graduate qualitative researchers who must recognize their positionality and their placement on the cultural proficiency continuum to be effective scholars in cross-cultural research.

A Constituição brasileira de 1988 é o grande marco normativo para tal exame. Antes dela, prevaleceu um conceito colonial, eurocêntrico e hegemônico de cultura, que subalternizava negros e índios e suas manifestações culturais. A nova Constituição expressa um compromisso com a igualdade, o multiculturalismo e a inclusão. Perguntase: qual é o resultado do encontro das novas normas e paradigmas com as antigas hierarquias sociais e suas estruturas?
Este artículo se deriva de un estudio en dos municipios de la Costa Caribe norte de Nicaragua, que interactúa de manera crítica con la agenda de investigación británica, dominante en este momento. ...Mediante un stakeholder analysis, hemos intentado mapear el poder cultural en esta parte de Nicaragua en un contexto de racismo persistente, desigualdad de género, pobreza, destrucción ambiental y creciente autoritarismo político mediante entrevistas, grupos focales y talleres con actores relevantes. La investigación fue realizada por un grupo de académicos, profesionales de una organización no gubernamental (ONG) y activistas de la sociedad civil que viven en la costa o que tienen una participación política y profesional a largo plazo, en la región. Proporciona un conjunto de recomendaciones para los organismos gubernamentales y las organizaciones de la sociedad civil, con potencial de aumentar el impacto positivo de nuestros proyectos de investigación y desarrollo en la región.
The present study explored the role of perceived societal norms of multiculturalism in the engagement of cultural identity styles (hybridising‐HIS and altenating‐AIS) and, in turn, their impact on ...bicultural identity consolidation and cultural identity conflict. We examined 293 Chinese Americans' perceptions about the extent to which culturally diverse groups are in contact with one another (multicultural contact); whether diversity is valued and appreciated (multicultural ideology); and whether there are policies and practices that support and accommodate diversity (multicultural policies and practices) in the United States. Results from a path analysis showed that multicultural ideology was negatively associated with AIS and cultural identity conflict. Multicultural contact was positively associated with HIS and bicultural identity consolidation. Multicultural policies and practices had no significant associations. The findings underscore the important role of perceived societal acceptance of multicultural ideology and perceived norms of multicultural contact in managing cultural identities. Furthermore, the study highlights that perceived multiculturalism norms as societal‐level factors combined with individual‐level cultural identity styles can influence the identity outcomes of multicultural individuals. Further research into the role of perceived societal norms for both majority and cultural minority individuals in identity integration is warranted.

Categorization and social comparison are recognized as the main mechanisms for the formation of ethno-cultural identity in this area. In the article special attention is paid to the personal factor, namely, personal autonomy and individual peculiarities of the personality development.
El estudio tuvo como propósito describir la importancia de la identidad cultural de los pobladores para el fortalecimiento de la promoción turística del balneario. La metodología corresponde a un ...enfoque cualitativo, tipo descriptivo, y el diseño es un estudio de caso. Se utilizó la entrevista y la guía de entrevista para recoger datos, que fueron codificados y analizados. Se concluyó que el poblador está comprometido con su cultura, la conservación y difusión, fortaleciendo la promoción turística del Balneario de Cerro Azul; sin embargo, los actores claves evidencian pocas prácticas sostenibles conllevando a un lento crecimiento turístico, evidenciándose que la actividad turística tiene proyección de desarrollo y promoción turística creciente con base al fortalecimiento de identidad cultural en sus pobladores.
