Abstract
Introduction:
There are an insufficient number of sleep clinicians to provide face-to-face services to the millions of American families struggling with pediatric insomnia. We evaluated a ...commercially available DVD that had not yet been tested through a randomized controlled study.
Methods:
From November 2012 to September 2015, 239 families were enrolled and randomly assigned to one of three study arms: a DVD intervention condition (the Sleep Easy Solution), a Website comparison condition (http://www.johnsonsbaby.com/sleep), and a Wait List comparison condition. Neither the DVD nor the website was developed by the investigative team. Furthermore, the creators of the DVD and the website played no role in study design, implementation, interpretation, or funding. One parent from each family was asked to complete the Extended Brief Infant Questionnaire at baseline (prior to randomization) and one-month follow-up.
Results:
The overall 1-month follow-up survey completion rate was 76.6%, with no significant differences across the three study conditions (81.3%, 68.3%, and 80.5% for DVD, Website, and Wait List respectively, p = .09). A trichotomous variable - Do you consider your child’s sleep a problem? (not a problem at all, a small problem, a very serious problem) - was the primary outcome measure. DVD was superior to Wait List in terms of the primary outcome (p = .03). Similarly, regarding secondary outcomes, DVD was superior to Wait List in terms of longer continuous sleep periods (p = .003), more favorable perceptions of the child’s overall sleep (p = .001), and higher parental confidence in managing the child’s sleep (p = .001). DVD was not superior to Website on the primary outcome (p = .37). In addition, Website was not superior to Wait List on the primary outcome (p = .21).
Conclusion:
The favorable results of the DVD intervention suggest that this is a promising self-administered treatment for pediatric insomnia.

During the recent COVID-19 (CoV) global outbreak, there is a sharp decline of revenue of on-demand ride-hailing (ODR) platforms because people have serious worries of infection in the shared ...vehicles. Blockchain, which supports cryptocurrency and creates full traceability of the service history of each car and driver, may come to rescue by allowing the platform to offer only the "safe cars" to consumers. Motivated by the real world challenges associated with the CoV outbreak for the ODR platform, we build game-theoretical models based on the M/M/n queuing system to explore if and how blockchain can help. In the basic model, the ODR platform decides the service price and special hygiene level. Comparing between the cases with and without blockchain, we find that blockchain implementation increases both the service price and hygiene level. In addition, when the consumers' inherent worry of infection is substantially large, implementing blockchain achieves all-win for the ODR platform, drivers and consumers. In the extended models, we first consider the case when the special hygiene level is determined by the drivers under a mixed-leadership game and then explore the case when customers are risk averse. The main findings about blockchain adoption remain valid in both cases. However, when the drivers take charge of the special hygiene level, both optimal decisions are lower in most cases. It is also important to make efforts to reduce consumers' feeling volatility toward service valuation for improving the value of blockchain adoption and related performances.

Here, we demonstrate the detection of H2O2 with a novel, flexible and non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor based on a laser scribed graphene electrode decorated with silver nanoparticles(LSG-Ag). This low-cost technique based on a DVD laser, allowed the direct manufacturing and reduction of graphene oxide into an electrochemical transducer with conductive, lightweight, reduced and flexible characteristics. The LSG-Ag sensor showed a high catalytic response towards H2O2 reduction at -0.5 V with a fast amperometric response of only 3 s. The sensor exhibited a wide linear range from 0.1 to 10 mM (R2 = 0.9982), a low LOD of 7.9 μM with high repeatability of 3% R.S.D. and reproducibility of 4.5% R.S.D. In addition, the LSG-Ag retained its operational characteristics after continuous bending with a loss of current of only 13%. Considering the need of progression of electrochemical systems into trending areas where flexibility is required, the laser-induced sensors can provide a suitable platform for flexible, reliable, sensitive and selective detection.
A process evaluation was conducted as part of a comparative effectiveness trial of a mailed interactive educational DVD intervention to promote colorectal cancer screening among average-risk patients ...who did not attend a scheduled colonoscopy. Participants (n = 371) for the trial were randomized to (1) mailed DVD, (2) mailed DVD plus patient navigation, or (3) usual care. Participants (n = 243) randomized to the two DVD intervention arms were called 2 weeks after mailing materials to complete a process evaluation interview about the DVD (September 2017–February 2020). Forty-nine (20%) participants were not reached, and 194 (80%) participants watched the DVD and completed the interview. The process evaluation assessed whether (1) the DVD content was helpful, (2) any new information was learned by participants, (3) the appropriate amount of information was included in the DVD, (4) participants were engaged when watching the DVD, (5) the DVD content was relevant, (6) participants were satisfied with the DVD (7) participants would recommend the DVD to others, and (8) their opinion about colorectal cancer screening was changed by watching the DVD. Among participants who watched the DVD, 99% reported the screening information was very or somewhat helpful, 47% learned new information, 75% said the DVD included the right amount of information, they were engaged (M = 3.35 out of 4, SD = 0.49), 87% reported all or most information applied to them, they were satisfied (M = 3.42 out of 4, SD = 0.39) with DVD content, 99% would recommend the DVD to others, and 45% reported changing their opinion about screening. To understand the effects of interventions being tested in trials and to plan the dissemination of evidence-based interventions, process evaluation is critical to assess the dose received and acceptability of behavioral interventions.
The impact of multi-channel technology-enabled digital goods on the sales of the physical counterpart faces uncertainty in the electronic commerce domain. We address the issue empirically by ...identifying the effect of the availability of digitally-delivered movies on physical DVD movie sales. Unique to our study is our interest in not only purchased digital goods but rented digital goods as well. We construct a robust panel dataset consisting of movie data collected from Amazon and Barnes and Noble on the same day for every movie observed. A key feature of our dataset is the multi-channel availability of digital purchase and digital rental movie formats at Amazon. Our results show that the availability of the digital purchase format does not have a significant effect on DVD sales. Surprisingly, the availability of the digital rental format is associated with a significant reduction in DVD sales. The results imply that a product substitution effect may be occurring between the digital rental and the physical DVD purchase of the same movie. We conduct robustness tests to show under which conditions the effect is greatest. Our results also provide practical implications to inform strategies regarding movie format release windows.

The DVD boxset The Twilight Zone - The Definitive Edition: Season 5 (2005) has become infamous due to the presence of a particular special feature: an audio commentary for the episode "The Last Night ...of a Jockey" (originally transmitted 25 October 1963) featuring Mickey Rooney and an unidentified moderator. The actor proves an elusive interviewee throughout, frequently lapsing into silence, randomly shouting a number of his responses, and mostly claiming not to remember anything about the episode. When the moderator explains that a "younger audience" will be listening to the commentary to learn about the production, Rooney disputes this, stating that they are too busy "watching... sexy things" instead. The bizarre content of this track pushes it into the realm of what John Thornton Caldwell has termed the "unruly bonus." Rather than conforming to the model of the set's other features - which largely reiterate the notion that The Twilight Zone (1959-1964) is a classic of early television, and worthy of further critical attention - Rooney's contribution becomes an unintentional, and "disruptive," spectacle in itself^. This is indicated by several online reviews which give the track a disproportionate amount of coverage, relative to the set as a whole.
Extensive applications for photodetectors have led to demand for high‐responsivity polarization‐sensitive light detection. Inspired by the elaborate architecture of butterfly Papilio paris, a 1D ...nanograting bonded porous 2D photonic crystal perovskite photodetector (G‐PC‐PD) using a commercial DVD master and 2D crystalline colloidal arrays template was fabricated. The coupling effect from grating diffraction and reflection of the PC stopband renders the enhanced light harvesting of G‐PC‐PD. The porous scaffold and nanoimprinting process afford a highly crystalline perovskite film. White light responsivity and detectivity of G‐PC‐PD are up to 12.67 A W−1 and 3.22×1013 Jones (6∼7 times that of a pristine perovskite photodetector). The highly ordered nanograting arrays of G‐PC‐PD enable polarization‐sensitive light detection with a rate of −0.72 nA deg−1. This hierarchical perovskite integrated nanograting and 2D PC architecture opens a new avenue to high‐performance optoelectronic devices.

Rapid and sensitive diagnostics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is of utmost importance to control the widespread coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) upsurge. This ...study demonstrated a novel one-pot surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) based immunoassay to detect SARS-CoV-2, without any washing process using a portable Raman spectrometer. The SERS-immune assay was designed using a regular digital versatile disk (DVD) substrate integrated with Raman reporter labeled silver nanoparticles for double clamping effects. The disks were molded to form nanopillar arrays and coated with silver film to enhance the sensitivity of immunoassay. The SERS platform demonstrated a limit of detection (LoD) up to 50 pg mL−1 for SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and virus-like-particle (VLP) protein in phosphate buffer saline within a turnaround time of 20 mins. Moreover, VLP protein spiked in untreated saliva achieved an LoD of 400 pg mL−1, providing a cycle threshold (Ct) value range of 30–32, closer to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) results (35−40) and higher than the commercial rapid antigen tests, ranging from 25 to 28. Therefore, the developed one-pot SERS based biosensor exhibited highly sensitive and rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2, which could be a potential point-of-care platform for early and cost-effective diagnosis of the COVID-19 virus.
