Gold film electrodes (Au-FE) with distinct nanostructured patterns were prepared from polycarbonate (PC) substrates and investigated with respect to their analytical sensitivity. The recordable (R) ...and read-only memory (ROM) discs, respectively, yield PC substrates with grooves (stripe pattern) or pits (indented pattern). The Au-FEs were characterized in terms of surface morphology and surface patterns, and it was found that the surface area of all Au-FEs does not significantly differ (by 0.2 to 7.4 %) compared to electrode with flat surfaces. However, the electrical signal of indented patterns is larger by 32 to 213 % when directly compared to stripe-patterned Au-FEs (at the same scale of groove and pit). An Au-FE prepared from a polycarbonate sheet from a Blu-ray disc read only memory (BD-ROM) as substrate displayed the best electrochemical performance towards reductive sensing of H
2
O
2
. The respective calibration plot, acquired at a working potential of −0.1 V vs. Ag/AgCl, covers the 0 to 10 mM hydrogen peroxide concentration range. The sensitivity is as high as 3.11 μA∙mM
−1
∙cm
−2
which is larger by a factor of 28 compared to flat gold electrodes, and the detection limit (at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3) is 6 μM. Therefore, the results confirm that the indented nanopattern on the Au-FE significantly increases the efficiency of electrochemical detection. Conceivably, the surface patterns and structures may be designed in order to tune sensitivity with respect to future applications of Au-FEs in diagnostics, agriculture, and environmental monitoring.

A composite consisting of carbon nanotubes (CNT) and copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) was prepared by a chemical reduction method, and its structure characterized by scanning electron microscopy, ...transmission electron microscopy energy dispersive spectroscopy and FT-IR spectrometry. The hybrid composite was deposited on the surface of a disposable gold electrode that was manufactured from a commercial digital versatile gold disc by a drop casting method. The electrochemical properties of the modified electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The sensor showed an excellent electrocatalytic activity towards oxidation of paracetamol (PA). The calibration plot (with current typically measured at 0.41 V vs. Ag/AgCl) is linear in the 0.5 to 80 μM concentration range, and the detection limit is as low as 10 nM. The sensor was successfully applied to the determination of PA in spiked water and tablet samples where it gave recoveries ranging between 95.25 and 100.5 %.

Despite almost all babies being breastfed initially, the exclusive breastfeeding rate at six months is less than 30% in China. Improving professionals' knowledge and practical skill is a key ...government strategy to increase breastfeeding rates. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of a breastfeeding DVD training method for clinicians on improving their knowledge and confidence in the breastfeeding support skills of teaching mothers Positioning and Attachment (P & A) and Hand Expression (HE).
A randomised controlled trial was conducted in three hospitals in Zhejiang province, China in 2014. Participants were recruited before their routine breastfeeding training course and randomly allocated to intervention group (IG) and control group (CG). The 15 min "Breastfeeding: Essential Support Skills DVD" was the intervention for IG and a vaginal delivery DVD was used for CG. All participants completed questionnaires of job information, knowledge and confidence in the two skills before (baseline) and immediately after viewing the DVD (post DVD).
Out of 210 participants, 191 completed knowledge assessments before and after watching the DVD (IG n = 96, CG n = 95), with the response rate of 91.0%. At baseline, there are no significant differences in job variables, total knowledge scores and confident scores. The total knowledge score significantly increased post-DVD for IG (pre-DVD: M = 5.39, SD = 2.03; post-DVD: M = 7.74, SD = 1.71; t (95) = - 10.95, p < 0.01), but no significant change in total knowledge score for CG between pre- and post-DVD (pre-DVD: M = 5.67, SD = 1.70; post-DVD: M = 5.56, SD = 1.63; t (94) = 0.85). The total confidence scores were significantly higher post-DVD than pre-DVD in IG (pre-DVD: M = 66.49, SD = 11.27; post- DVD: M = 71.81, SD = 9.33; t (68) = - 4.92, p < 0.01), but no significant difference was seen in CG between pre- and post-DVD total confidence scores (pre-DVD: M = 68.33, SD = 11.08; post-DVD: M = 68.35, SD = 11.40; t (65) = - 0.25). Personal and job variables did not mediate these effects.
The breastfeeding training DVD improved professionals' knowledge and confidence of the two breastfeeding support skills. However, the effect on professionals' practice and on breastfeeding outcomes needs to be examined in the future.
The multiple myeloma (MM) treatment has changed over the last years due to the introduction of novel drugs. Despite improvements in the MM outcome, MM remains an incurable disease. Daratumumab is a ...human IgGK monoclonal antibody targeting CD38 with tumor activity associated with immunomodulatory mechanism. In combination with standard of care regimens, including bortezomib (Vd) or lenalidomide (Rd), daratumumab prolonged progression‐free survival (PFS) in patients (pts) with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) and in new diagnosis MM. We report the data of the MM GIMEMA Lazio group in 171 heavily treated pts who received daratumumab, lenalidomide and dexamethasone (DRd) or daratumumab, velcade and dexamethasone (DVd). The overall response rate was 80%, and the overall survival (OS) and PFS were 84% and 77%, respectively. In addition, pts treated with DRd showed a better median PFS compared to pts treated with DVd, at 12 and 24 months, respectively. The most common hematologic treatment‐emergent adverse events (TAEs) were neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia. The most common nonhematologic TAEs were peripheral sensory neuropathy and infections. Our data confirmed that DRd or DVd therapy is effective and safe in RRMM pts, and our real‐life analysis could support the physicians regarding the choice of optimal therapy in this setting of pts.
Sentiment classification of online reviews is playing an increasingly important role for both consumers and businesses in cyber-physical-social systems. However, existing works ignore the semantic ...correlation among different reviews, causing the ineffectiveness for sentiment classification. In this paper, a word embedding clustering-based deep hypergraph model (ECDHG) is proposed for the sentiment analysis of online reviews. The ECDHG introduces external knowledge by employing the pre-training word embeddings to express reviews. Then, semantic units are detected under the supervision of semantic cliques discovered by an improved hierarchical fast clustering algorithm. Convolutional neural networks are connected to extract the high-order textual and semantic features of reviews. Finally, the hypergraph can be constructed based on high-order relations of samples for the sentiment classification of reviews. Experiments are performed on five-domain data sets including movie, book, DVD, kitchen, and electronic to assess the performance of the proposed model compared with other seven models. The results validate that our model outperforms the compared methods in classification accuracy.

Plasma treatment and coating processes for 3D parts Many articles of our daily use are only able to feature their outstanding performance due to innovative plasma surface treatments. Semiconductor ...components like flat panel displays, solar panels, DVD / Blu-ray Discs, as well as optical components, coated glass panes, cutting tools and other components with reduced wearing are just a few examples. One important quality feature is to reach uniform properties over the entire surface to be treated. In case of planar or slightly curved surfaces this can be relatively easily achieved by using common plasma sources. For complex 3D parts, the effort required for uniform surface treatments greatly increases, and complex movements of the 3D parts are often required to achieve uniformity. This article deals with the plasma surface treatment and plasma coating of such complex 3D parts referring to some selected examples.Original Abstract: Plasma- und Vakuumbeschichtungstechniken haben heute Einzug in nahezu allen Bereichen unseres Lebens gehalten. So ist heute die Mikroelektronik, jeder Flachbildschirm, Waermedaemmscheiben, die Solartechnik, DVD's oder Blu-ray Disc's, Werkzeuge, optische Komponenten und vieles mehr, nicht mehr ohne Plasmabeschichtung denkbar. Ein wesentlicher Qualitaetsaspekt ist die Erzielung der gewuenschten Eigenschaft mit hoher Gleichmaesigkeit auf den beanspruchten Oberflaechen. Fuer planare oder leicht gekruemmte Oberflaechen ist dies mit angepassten Plasmaquellen gut zu erreichen. Wenn jedoch 3D-Formteile zu behandeln sind, steigt der Aufwand fuer eine gleichmaesige Behandlung und erfordert angepasste, teils komplexe Bewegungsregime der Teile waehrend der Behandlung. Im vorliegenden Artikel wird an einigen Beispielen die Plasmavorbehandlung und Plasmabeschichtung von 3D-Bauteilen mittels unterschiedlicher Verfahren vorgestellt.

To evaluate the relationship between subconjunctival hemorrhage (SCH) and dermatologic vasculature diseases (DVDs) via the national health insurance research database (NHIRD) of Taiwan. This ...retrospective cohort study used data from the NHIRD for the 2009 to 2013 period. Patients diagnosed with DVDs were enrolled in the study group, and a propensity score-matching population was selected as the control group after exclusion. The main outcome was set as the development of SCH in both groups. Multivariable Cox regression analysis and survival analysis were performed to estimate the adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) and cumulative probability of SCH. A total number of 3426 patients were enrolled and split equally into the study and the control groups. There was no prominent difference between the age, gender, urbanization, income level, systemic co-morbidities, and ocular diseases between the two groups after matching. During the whole study period, 131 patients in the study group and 98 patients in the control group developed SCH with a significant higher aHR of 2.69 in the study group (
< 0.05). In the survival analysis, the study group also demonstrated a higher cumulative probability of developing SCH than the control group throughout the study period (
= 0.02). In conclusion, the presence of DVDs may be a risk factor for the development of SCH.
