This paper shows the theoretical framework and the review of empirical evidence of the effect that corruption has on the socio-economic development. The main goals of this paper are: to present the ...possible origins of corruption, and to analyze the existing models to eliminate or at least to reduce corruption in the society. In the paper, it is argued that anticorruption models should also include the strategy for the development of the institutional infrastructure that will change the perception of the members of the society about corruption as an unacceptable model of behavior. Ever since China entered the World Trade Organization at the turn of the century, Latin America supplied China with more and more of the primary commodities it needs and more. In The China Triangle, ...Kevin P. Gallagher traces the development of the China-Latin America trade over time and covers how it has affected the centuries-old (and highly unequal) US-Latin American relationship.
In order to solve the shortcomings of classical convergence analysis and spatial econometric analysis, this paper proposes a delta statistics method to assess economic growth convergence of central ...China cities. The result shows to be more close to the reality by analyzing the drawbacks of the classical relative beta convergence, combining the advantages of gams convergence, reference panel data, co-integration theory with the time factor into model. Then, Monte Carlo simulation method is used to analyze its distribution, which shows that it obeys to the normal distribution assumption in large samples. At last, our method is applied to the analysis of economic convergence of central China.
Globalization, surely one of the most used and abused buzzwords of recent decades, describes a phenomenon that is typically considered to be a neutral and inevitable expansion of market forces across ...the planet. Nearly all economists, politicians, business leaders, and mainstream journalists view globalization as the natural result of economic development, and a beneficial one at that. But, as noted economist Martin Hart-Landsberg argues, this perception does not match the reality of globalization. The rise of transnational corporations and their global production chains was the result of intentional and political acts, decisions made at the highest levels of power. Their aim - to increase profits by seeking the cheapest sources of labor and raw materials - was facilitated through policy-making at the national and international levels, and was largely successful. But workers in every nation have paid the costs, in the form of increased inequality and poverty, the destruction of social welfare provisions and labor unions, and an erratic global economy prone to bubbles, busts, and crises. This book examines the historical record of globalization and restores agency to the capitalists, policy-makers, and politicians who worked to craft a regime of world-wide exploitation. It demolishes their neoliberal ideology - already on shaky ground after the 2008 financial crisis - and picks apart the record of trade agreements like NAFTA and institutions like the WTO. But, crucially, Hart- Landsberg also discusses alternatives to capitalist globalization, looking to examples such as South America's Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) for clues on how to build an international economy based on solidarity, social development, and shared prosperity.
Pregled dosadašnjih istraživanja o ulozi emigracija i utjecaju
Slijede rezultati panel analize. Analiza obuhvaća razdoblje nakon proširenja EU
Dealing with democratization of transitional societies, the author is trying to define causal processes of democratic change. Considering sociostructural prerequisites as necessary but not sufficient ...for establishing democracy, the author emphasizes the importance of sociocultural factors and claims that political culture is the intervening variable in the interaction between socioeconomic development and democracy. This thesis is tested through various aspects of the relationship between socioeconomic and sociocultural dimensions of the democratization process. Economic development and other structural factors do not act directly, nor do they solely by themselves influence the existence and stability of democracy. That influence is mediated by sociocultural factors, particularly by political culture. Hence, democratization is a collective action shaped by sociocultural factors. The effect of sociostructural prerequisites on the democratization process is taking place through the activity of sociocultural factors, which determine the forms and reaches of collective action, and finally the level and stability of democracy. In the transitional context, democratization is in progress both as sociostructural modernization and sociocultural adaptation.

infrastrukturnog dijela, dovesti do većega i bržeg ekonomskog razvoja.

Tourism is one of the biggest industries in the world today, and its importance continues to grow. And as economic and social circumstances continue to change, tourism will evolve also. For instance, ...tourism planners increasingly have to take into account environmental concerns and ecological issues. In recent years, the industry has become even more global in scope, functioning as a crucial economic sector in an ever-expanding number of countries.
The fourth edition of this classic volume has been completely rewritten and updated, with an expanded focus on international tourism issues. The authors emphasize that there needs to be a balance between tourism and ecological sustainability when planning all aspects of tourist sites. Today’s planner must work with all parties concerned and take into account everyone’s interests. Through a wide-ranging, international series of case studies, this new edition demonstrates that such a goal can be achieved. The book is divided into sections that cover tourism planning basics and planning concepts. As well, it provides examples according to three scales—regional, destination, and site. The case studies were specially chosen for their ability to aid planners and developers, and the heightened focus on international tourism issues makes this an essential tool for international planners in this increasingly global industry. Updated and comprehensive coverage of all aspects of tourism planning ensures that the new edition will remain the standard text on the subject.
