Anthropology in India has a special relationship with Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, whom Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose called the ‘Father of the Nation’, and the body of his thoughts that has come to be ...known as Gandhism. However, with respect to the societies that anthropologists principally study, it is the contribution of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru that is more often referred. Of all the disciplines, anthropology is the only subject fully committed to an intensive study of tribal societies, the factors of their stability and change. Hopefully, each student of Indian anthropology remembers the Foreword that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru contributed to the Second Edition of Verrier Elwin’s A Philosophy for NEFA (1958) by heart in which he delineated the five points—euphemistically called Panchsheel (five principles) of tribal policy––that have till date served as its sheet anchor. Since the Fifth Five-Year Plan, a lot of emphasis has been placed on alleviating poverty among the tribal communities, especially for those who have been the victims of deforestation and development-induced displacement and of those who earlier were called Primitive Tribes but are now renamed Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
Objective
Mantram or holy name repetition has long been practiced in every major religious tradition. Repetition of a mantram as a mindfulness practice is helpful for stress management and resilience ...building. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the key features of mantram and the Mantram Repetition Program (MRP) developed in the US Veterans Healthcare System, the evidence base for the MRP, and its applications.
Methods
MRP practices are portable and do not require an extended or regularized period of sitting, in contrast to most methods of meditation. Core functions of MRP practices include focus shifting, frame activation, and fostering of mindfulness. We review scientific research, including multiple randomized trials, that has investigated the MRP.
Results
Research on the MRP has documented reductions in posttraumatic stress symptoms, insomnia, hyperarousal, and depression, as well as enhancement of quality of life, self-efficacy, and mindfulness. Mantram repetition may possess comparative advantages for managing symptoms of various mental health conditions, including posttraumatic stress disorder, HIV/AIDS, cancer, and chronic diseases.
Conclusions
MRP practices can be integrated into daily routines to manage stress and improve coping, safety, efficacy, calmness, and resilience. The inclusion of mantram repetition alongside conventional mindfulness-based practices for stress management will improve their cultural and religious inclusiveness, enabling societies and organizations to build greater collective resilience. Mantram repetition can be readily used in the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on healthcare workers, patients, and the public.
This article puts political philosopher Judith Butler in conversation with Gandhi, on the topic of nonviolent resistance. More particularly, we compare them on a systematic philosophical level. ...Although we focus on Gandhi’s more activist side, by delving into the ontological presuppositions that Butler and Gandhi share, we can do some justice to how his activism is firmly rooted in a faith-based understanding of the world. We discuss four themes in each of which they complement each other: namely, the ontological roots of the nonviolent imperative; their rejection of an instrumental view of violence; nonviolent resistance seen as communicative action; and nonviolence viewed as a way of life. This discussion shows that while they have very different starting points and vocabularies, and while some tensions remain, there is much scope for cooperation, solidarity and alliance between religious and nonreligious practitioners of nonviolent resistance.
The article examines the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi from a psychological perspective. Special attention is given to the psychoanalytic study of Gandhi by Erik Erikson, Gandhi's Truth, in 1969. ...The author notes his personal connection with Erikson's book, which profoundly influenced his thinking (and life). The article alternates between a close psychological reading of Erikson's book and Gandhi's My Experiments with Truth. The larger point of the article is to reflect on the future of satyagraha or nonviolence. Gandhi's own meanings of satyagraha are often difficult for many to accept, given the psychological violence that infected his form of nonviolence. His flaws, which must be reluctantly acknowledged, challenge us to formulate our own meanings of nonviolence (given our own flaws), since some form of satyagraha may be the only hope of survival for a world threatened with ultimate destruction.
This article explores the impact of Leo Tolstoy's doctrine of non-violence on Mahatma Gandhi through following research model of intertextuality modified by Charles Bazerman. It provides a new ...perspective for juxtaposing the views of Gandhi and Tolstoy. The links and affinities established between Tolstoy and Gandhi not only appear like that of two literary writers but also like that of a Master and Disciple. The technique of intertextuality as an umbrella term specifically interpreted by Bazerman has been helpful in placing the views of both writers in a verifiable form. Through keeping in view five different aspects of intertextual analysis, and comparing the views of both writers, Tolstoy's inspirational role in the development of Gandhi's views on non-violence has been established. It has been safely concluded that Gandhi could hardly rise to his current global position if he did not choose to be a humble servant of Leo Tolstoy.
"The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I don't need you!' And the head can-not say to the feet, 'I don't need you!'"1 Jesus' Great Commission further com-pelled the early Church to engage in meaningful ...conversations that connected the hope of the gospel to the others, making disciples, baptizing, and teaching.2 Church gatherings were filled with fellowship, "day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts. ...of Apologetics: Christian Witness in a Postmodern Context, philosopher Myron Penner emphasized that there is "no rational hope of resolving debates through to a single point of view" in the contemporary context, nullifying the modern approach of evangelistic debate.'12 In the face of all this, Christians still deeply desire to connect with one another as well as the outside world. Along with being a close friend of Gandhi, he was nominated for the Nobel peace prize twice, founded the Christian Ashram movement, and was a member of CORE (Congress of Racial Equality).15 Yet his legacy is not in his personal achievements but in a methodology of interconnected communication that transformed the Church's ability to build connections inside and outside its walls and offers valuable insight into communication practice today, especially on behalf of the Christian faith. ...I explain how Jones's reliance on God to build interconnectedness through AGNT can be ap-plied to modern church connections.
Introduction
dermatitis arises from inadvertent skin contact with insects of the genus
, leading to irritant contact dermatitis. This study aims to highlight the diverse clinical presentations and ...the remarkable ability of the disease to mimic various dermatological conditions. Methodology A total of 15 patients diagnosed with
dermatitis in a period of four months from August 2023 to November 2023 were included in this retrospective study. The demographic profile, detailed history, clinical presentation, and site of lesion distribution were documented. Results Out of 15 patients, nine were males, and eight were females. All patients exhibited a sudden onset of lesions accompanied by burning and pain, with an average duration of approximately 2.5 days. The most prevalent clinical presentation was the linear type, followed by kissing lesions, an erythematous patch with a central gray area, Nairobi eye, burnt appearance, and post-inflammatory pigmentation. Conclusion
dermatitis is common in tropical areas like India but is prone to misdiagnosis due to its varied presentation. Increased awareness can lead to accurate diagnoses and simpler treatment plans, reducing patient confusion.

Determinants of mental health are not just the ability to manage one's thoughts, emotions, behaviours and interactions with others, but also national policies, social protection, living standards, ...working conditions and community social support. If his beliefs in spirituality, better social integration, endless love for other living beings, non-violence, truth and moral values, were to be followed, it would have a significant impact on mental health of individuals. The central government is responsible for international health treaties, medical education, prevention of food adulteration, quality control in drug manufacturing, national disease control and family planning programs. Initiatives such as Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH +A) programme and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme are aimed at reducing IMR, MMR, and improving family planning rates, child and maternal nutrition.
