postali prihvaćeni i rašireni.
Irske, Nizozemske, Mađarske, Njemačke, Austrije i Slovenije.

This volume explores the meaning of republicanism in contemporary Ireland. While this has often been identified simply with nationalism, the book examines the connections, comparisons and contrasts ...between Irish republicanism and other strands of republican politics: the ideology and practice of official French republicanism, the broader European and American civic republican tradition and the contemporary revival of this tradition of citizenship. Academics from different disciplines, along with statesmen and politicians from different political perspectives, are brought together to examine the relationship of historical and contemporary Irish republicanism to the wider republican theoretical tradition. The book analyses political positions among those parties describing themselves as republican in Ireland in the twenty-first century and examines the possible relevance of the ideas of the broader republican tradition for future politics in Ireland.
This book surveys Irish writing in English over the last two centuries, from Maria Edgeworth to Seamus Heaney, to give the literary student and the general reader an up-to-date sense of its variety ...and vitality and to indicate some of the ways in which it has been described and discussed. It begins with a brief outline of Irish history, of Irish writing in Irish and Latin, and of writing in English before 1800. Later chapters consider Irish romanticism, Victorian Ireland, W.B.Yeats and the Irish Literary Revival, new directions in Irish writing after Joyce and the literature of contemporary Ireland, north and south, from 1960 to the present.
The encroachment of globalization and demands for greater regional autonomy have had a profound effect on the way we picture Ireland. This challenging new look at the key of sovereignty asks us how ...we should think about the identity of a postnationalist' Ireland. Richard Kearney goes to the heart of the conflict over demand for communal identity - traditionally expressed by nationalism, and the demand for a universal model of citizenship - traditionally expressed by republicanism. In so doing, he asks us to question whether the sacrosanct concept of absolute national sovereignty is becoming a luxury ill afforded in the emerging new Europe. Kearney then takes us beyond the political with chapters on the influence of philosophers such as George Berkeley, John Toland and John Tyndall and looks at some of the myths in Irish poetry and nationhood. Postnationalist Ireland provides a recasting of contemporary Irish politics, culture, literature and philosophy and will appeal to students of these subjects and Irish studies in general.

<!endif-->Ukázka typických irských jídel, kterými ostrované přispěli do světové gastronomie.

<!endif-->Example of typical Irish dishes, by which the islanders have contributed to the world of gastronomy. Irish whiskey differs from Scotch whiskey and its oldest distillery comes from 1608. The most famous whiskey brand is Jameson based in Dublin. Across the river, there is the kingdom of beer where dark stout by Guinness is tapped. Food is not served in every pub, so the bought fish & chips come to taste. The Irish breakfast is really substantial. The most typical local dish is the Irish lamb stew. Surprisingly, the Irish eat little fish. The traditional dessert is the porter cake, bread containing a good dose of black beer.- Information:

TV series ,,Views from Elsewhere" was being broadcasted since 8th of January 1999. This is an original joint project of the Czech Television and Czech Radio that freely follows "Karel Kyncl's Views" from Great Britain and "French Views by Adolf Bašta". However, in this case it is a visualization of radio feuilletons by foreign correspondents of the Czech Radio. They are rather kind of "tele-feuilletons", a brand new television genre. The aim of this series authors is to describe the European countries, their presence, customs, traditions, curiosities...- Not only Irish whiskey enriched the world's gastronomy.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
