Raziskava ...nakazuje razvoj Teslovih pojmovanj kemijske narave snovi kot dediščine Boškovića, Boerhaava, Stahla, Volte in številnih slovenskih učenjakov.
This paper uses a comparative case study of Nikola Tesla's use as a symbol in interwar Yugoslavia and the contemporary United States to build upon Anderson's theory of modular nationalism. The ...modularity of national symbols, I argue, is driven by their utility in addressing similar social, political and economic transformations in different countries and may be transmissible through emigrant communities—albeit not without some changes in substance. Just as Yugoslavia used Tesla to bridge ethnic divisions, Yugoslav emigrants deployed Tesla to enhance their status in the United States. The cult of Tesla, moreover, is doubly modular, with its Yugoslav incarnation drawing inspiration from the American cult of Thomas Edison, just as Edison's current obsolescence as a symbol led to the cult of Tesla's adoption in the United States.

The electrical engineer Nikola Tesla is one of the scientists who made the most important contributions to the development of electrical
science and technology in the last 100 years. During its 86 ...years of life, the majority as a resident of the USA, dedicates them to
subjects as diverse as electricity and electromagnetism, among others, anticipating in several decades the physics of their time. He is
considered the father of alternating electricity flow, with granted patents, some of them after his death. His life is fascinating, not only
for his inventions but for the stories and stories that surround him. It stars in the famous period known as the Battle of the Electricity
flow, whose opponent was the renowned Thomas Alva Edison, an environment that has served as a script for various documentaries
and films. The purpose of this paper is to describe part of its history and, especially, of this famous period. We hope that readers
will be as fascinated with the life and work of this character, as many of us are when we appreciate the invaluable legacy of their
technological developments.
El ingeniero electricista Nikola Tesla es uno de los científicos que más importantes aportes hizo para el desarrollo de la ciencia y la
tecnología eléctrica en los últimos 100 años. Durante sus 86 años de vida, la mayoría como residente de USA, los dedica a temas
tan diversos como la electricidad y el electromagnetismo, entre otros, adelantándose en varias décadas a la física de su tiempo. Se
le considera el padre de la corriente alterna, con patentes otorgadas, algunas de ellas posterior a su muerte. Su vida es fascinante,
no sólo por sus inventos sino por las historias y relatos que le rodean. Protagoniza el famoso período conocido como la Batalla de
las Corrientes, cuyo oponente fue el reconocido Thomas Alva Edison, entorno que ha servido de guion a diversos documentales y
películas. El presente trabajo tiene como propósito describir parte de su historia y, especialmente, de este famoso período. Esperamos
que los lectores se encuentren tan fascinados con la vida y obra de este personaje, como muchos quienes lo estamos al apreciar el
invaluable legado de sus desarrollos tecnológicos.
Prince Johann Weikhard Auersperg was nearly the only person whom Otto Guericke mentioned in his book about the pioneering vacuum experiments. Guericke reported that Auersperg's doubts forced him to ...modify and improve his tools. Auersperg just became prince and worked as the prime minister of the Viennese Emperor. He was born in castle Žužemberk of the present days Slovenia and died in his amazing baroque palace of Ljubljana where he collected many vacuum-related curiosities and the best private European library of his era where no vacuum-related item was missing. He collaborated with leading Jesuits vacuum researchers of his times including Gaspar Schott who pioneered the announcement of the Guericke's vacuum equipment. Schott's teacher Athanasius Kircher witnessed the early barometer experiments in Rome, dedicated to Auersperg a part of his book Oedipus, and donated many books to the Auersperg's library of Ljubljana. Later Auersperg became too powerful and the new Emperor forced him to leave Vienna for Ljubljana where Auersperg began to spread his knowledge through his high society circle which included leading local Jesuit literati and Valvasor. Soon after his death the public higher studies were established in Ljubljana and Gorizia to match the already existing ones in Vienna, Prague, Olomouc, Graz, Trnava, Košice, Klagenfurt, and Zagreb of the same Jesuit Province. The Jesuit professors frequently rotated between those colleges and spread their knowledge initially based on Kircher and Schott's ideas of vacuum. A century after Guericke-Auersperg Regensburg experiments a physics laboratory was established in Ljubljana Jesuit College under the leadership of the grandson of Auersperg's customs officer baron Erberg. In next decades, the Ljubljana Jesuits shared their laboratory equipment with similar laboratories along the province to provide the relevant knowledge to their students who lay foundation of the present day Slovenian Vacuum Techniques.
Prvič je predstavljen popoln popis Teslovih srednješolskih profesorjev. Poudarjene so odlike njegovih učiteljev kemijskih in sorodnih ved. Analizirane so knjige o kemiji, ki jih je bral srednješolec ...Tesla, in s kemijo povezana objavljena dela njegovih predavateljev. Še posebej je izpostavljeno raziskovanje spektroskopije, ki se je razbohotilo po Kirchhoffovih in Bunsenovih začetkih v Teslovi zgodnji mladosti in je močno vplivalo na raziskovanja Teslovega najljubšega profesorja Martina Sekulića. Tesla's First Footsteps into Chemical Sciences For the first time a complete list of Tesla’s High School professors is provided. The excellency of his lecturers of chemistry and related sciences is put into the limelight. The books and articles about chemistry which Tesla read in his High School times is focused together with the related published works of his teachers. The pioneering spectroscopic research of Kirchhoff and Bunsen began in Tesla’s early youth and had a considerable impact on Tesla’s professors, especially on Martin Sekulić.
•In February 1977 a grassroots group called the People’s Power Project (PPP) was formed in Minnesota to oppose the development of a massive power line project.•Though lacking any specific scientific ...training, the group utilized large amounts of resources and time to develop a system of wireless transmission of energy proposed by Nikola Tesla.•The lack of specialized training as well as the influence of the mythic elements of Tesla’s biography seems to have contributed to the groups’ devotion to the idea.•Despite their ultimate failure, their actions garnered considerable attention of the media and drew volunteers from across the country and around the globe, illustrating the potential of myth as a catalyst to grassroots action.
In 1972, the Minnesota United Power Association (UPA) teamed up with the Minnesota Cooperative Power Association (CPA) to initiate an electrification project designed to bring power from North Dakota to the Twin Cities area. A significant backlash and protest began once farmers across the state became aware of the plan and the potential impending land seizure. In the midst of these actions, one group sought to create an alternative to the power line transmission system by designing a system of wireless energy transmission based on the plans of Nikola Tesla. This self-funded conglomeration of farmers and amateur researchers formed the People’s Power Project (PPP) and set about building Tesla’s system for the wireless transmission of energy. Using archival documents, this paper recounts this episode and argues that, in this case, the potential for successful grassroots action was derailed by the influence of longstanding myths about Tesla and his devices.
