Time-resolved fluorescence on oligomers of the main light-harvesting complex from higher plants indicate that in vitro oligomerization leads to the formation of a weakly coupled inter-trimer ...chlorophyll–chlorophyll (Chl) exciton state which converts in tens of ps into a state which is spectrally broad and has a strongly far-red enhanced fluorescence spectrum. Both its lifetime and spectrum show striking similarity with a 400
ps fluorescence component appearing in intact leaves of
Arabidopsis when non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) is induced. The fluorescence components with high far-red/red ratio are thus a characteristic marker for NPQ conditions in vivo. The far-red emitting state is shown to be an emissive Chl–Chl charge transfer state which plays a crucial part in the quenching.
Some complete monotonicity results for q-polygamma functions are proved. Our results extend positivity of some functions containing q-polygamma functions to complete monotonicity property. Also, we ...give two new inequalities for q-trigamma function.
Abstract
Then the pixel shape index method is used to extract the pixel shape index features of high spatial resolution remote sensing images and supplement the spectral features. The experimental ...results show that the pixel shape index feature can effectively distinguish the ground objects with similar spectral features but different geometric shapes, and is superior to the spectral feature classification method in accuracy.Compared with the small ripple feature method and the multi-scale region feature method, the pixel shape index method also achieves better results. On the other hand, it is found in the experiment that the method is easily affected by the detailed information in the high spatial resolution remote sensing image, and the classification effect of the region rich in detailed information is not ideal. In this paper, pixel shape index method is used to effectively distinguish ground object targets with similar spectral features but different shapes, and extract pixel shape index features of high-resolution remote sensing images. Compared with spectral features, pixel shape index features have great advantages in accuracy, and it is also conducive to the supplement of spectral features.
Inorganic phosphate (Pi) starvation severely affects the normal growth and development of plants. Here, a Pi-responsive gene, named MdMYB2 (MDP0000823458), was cloned and functionally identified in ...apple. Overexpression of MdMYB2 regulated the expression of Pi starvation-induced (PSI) genes and then promoted phosphate assimilation and utilization. The ectopic expression of MdMYB2 in Arabidopsis influenced plant growth and flowering, which was partially rescued by application of exogenous gibberellin (GA). These results indicated that MdMYB2 may be an essential regulator in phosphate utilization and GA-regulated plant growth and development.
Introduction: There is the need of a simple but highly reliable score system for stratifying the risk of mortality and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) transfer in patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia at the ...Emergency Room. Purpose: In this study, the ability of CURB-65, extended CURB-65, PSI and CALL scores and C-Reactive Protein (CRP) to predict intra-hospital mortality and ICU admission in patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia were evaluated. Methods: During March-May 2020, a retrospective, single-center study including all consecutive adult patients with diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia was conducted. Clinical, laboratory and radiological data as well as CURB-65, expanded CURB-65, PSI and CALL scores were calculated based on data recorded at hospital admission. Results: Overall, 224 patients with documented SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia were included in the study. As for intrahospital mortality (24/224, 11%), PSI performed better than all the other tested scores, which showed lower AUC values (AUC=0.890 for PSI
versus
AUC=0.885, AUC=0.858 and AUC=0.743 for expanded CURB-65, CURB-65 and CALL scores, respectively). Of note, the addition of hypoalbuminemia to the CURB-65 score increased the prediction value of intra-hospital mortality (AUC=0.905). All the tested scores were less predictive for the need of ICU transfer (26/224, 12%), with the best AUC for extended CURB-65 score (AUC= 0.708). Conclusion: The addition of albumin level to the easy-to-calculate CURB-65 score at hospital admission is able to improve the quality of prediction of intra-hospital mortality in patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia.

•Polyaspartamide (PA)-encapsulated SPIONs as nano-heaters for hyperthermia therapy.•Enhancing biocompatibility and cellular uptake due to biotin functional group.•Effective cancer ...killing in both in vitro and in vivo hyperthermia experiments.•These results will open further potential for cancer treatment in the future.
We report a delicate synthesis process of polyaspartamide-encapsulated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (PA-encapsulated SPIONs) with their sufficiently obtained grain-size below 100 nm for hyperthermia application. Iron oxide nanoparticles with a high magnetization have been applied as nano-heaters while polyaspartamide (PA) is a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer with a polysuccinimide (PSI) backbone. Multi-functional polymer PA could be conjugated with other groups such as biotin to enhance the uptake capability by receptors of cancer cells. Consequently, encapsulating SPIONs nano-heaters with PA biopolymer is an attractive roadmap for hyperthermia therapy application. Our results revealed that PA-encapsulated SPIONs showed excellent biocompatible behavior based on cell viability test. With Prussian blue staining of cancer cells (4T1), cellular uptake of PA-encapsulated SPIONs was significantly increased in the presence of biotin conjugated on the outer shell. Furthermore, PA-encapsulated SPIONs exhibited effective cancer killing activities in both in vitro and in vivo hyperthermia experiments. Therefore, PA-encapsulated SPIONs might have potential for hyperthermia therapy.
Hydro turbine machineries erosion due to silt is a complex issue for the effective practice of hydropower plants. Erosion caused by silt of the Pelton turbine buckets is a compound phenomenon that ...depends on size of silt particles , silt particles concentration , velocity of jet , and working time . This paper deals with the influence of silt erosion for various silt loaded factors and effective parameters. The preference selection index (PSI) and technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) approaches has been adopted to find optimal set of parameters which offers the highest performance for the Pelton turbine. Based up on the results obtained from both PSI and TOPSIS approaches it is found that optimal performance has been provided by A-1 alternate with geometric and flow parameters as , , and respectively.
Abstract The performance effect of construction on energy conservation substantially depends upon application of correct materials and energy saving methodologies. A sizable financial impact is ...accomplished through insulated walls. The criteria explaining the present wall insulating material options may have different values. Furthermore, they may alter in different aspects, i.e. higher values of certain criteria show a preferable status, while for others they denote an inferior status. In this framework, a variant of compromise is needed, which can be situated through multi-criteria assessment methodologies. To diminish the effect of different methodologies on computational results, few diverse techniques can be considered, with descriptions of the mean predicted values. Thus, drawbacks of certain multi-criteria assessment techniques could be compensated through others. A hybrid methodology through the combination of individual techniques will be accurate if there is a relationship between the values determined through diverse methodologies. In this study, the most efficient insulation material used at external walls is selected by using PSI-CRITIC based CoCoSo Method. The analytical results are important both from financial and engineering point of views as the applied methodology is commercially viable and practically implementable. Precise and up-to-date material properties are derived from the leading companies in the sector.
Presently, ground subsidence in urban areas is becoming a peril to the infrastructure and society. In this study, we conducted a detailed analysis of the results, based on the Persistent Scatterer ...Interferometry (PSI), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and groundwater in the 'World Heritage City' of Ahmedabad, a major metro city in western India. The PSI technique is applied to measure the ground subsidence using the Sentinel 1 A dataset for the period 2017 to 2020. The results reveal a subsidence, maximum up to the level of 25 mm/yr in the areas of the southeast and west parts of the city. Analysis derived from GNSS results indicates a significant amount of ground subsidence based on the 2009-2020 dataset. Groundwater data (1995-2019) were analyzed to identify factors likely to cause ground subsidence and the results are in close agreement with the PSI and GNSS results.
