Abstract
Conveyor belt transfer is a widely used transportation means in industry and agriculture, with the help of the robot arms the workpiece on the belt can be picked and placed, replacing human ...sorters for production lines work. The position and orientation of the workpiece are important for grabbing by the robot arms. The goal of the paper was to investigate the acquisition of the position and orientation of the conveyor belt workpiece by means of the camera video overhead looking down the belt. The proposed method is the inter frame difference in nature, using the conveyor belt background as the first frame, but the other frames were not used wholly as usually, only an ROI all around the conveyor belt in the camera video was chosen, and the inter frame difference was carried out in the ROI. The ROI was of the same width as that of the belt in the video which was known in advance, while the length of the ROI was arbitrary, so one pixel in the frame was scaled to the actual length conveniently. Every read frame behind the background was computed the difference with the background in such ROI, and the four vertexes coordinates of the rectangle workpiece image on the belt were obtained when it passed the ROI, and then the distance apart from the right belt boundary was calculated due to the proportional relation between the width of workpiece and that of the ROI. Two kind workpiece orientation on the belt toward the left and right were judged using the same obtained four vertexes coordinates by means of Euclidian length, and the tilt angle was calculated by arc tangent function in favour of two narrow sides of rectangle workpiece grab. The actual test showed that the method of obtaining the position and orientation of workpiece on the belt proposed in the paper could be realized correctly.

Purpose
Leveraging social action theory, social network theory and the notion of network externality, the purpose of this paper is to model two different return on investment (ROI) measures: the ...networked ROI which captures the network effect originating from a social media investment, and the discrete ROI which focuses social media discrete returns from individual users.
Design/methodology/approach
A field experiment was set up over a period of three months to test the effects of two variants of an advertisement campaign (a social vs a discrete ad) on the modeled networked and discrete ROIs.
Findings
The authors find that emphasizing discrete user actions leads to lower network gains, but higher monetary returns while the social action emphasis produces higher network gains, but lower monetary returns. The study further suggests that social action focus is preferable for brand promotion and engagement, whereas the discrete action focus is suitable for boosting sales and website traffic.
Practical implications
Several potential implications for social media researchers and marketers are also discussed.
Originality/value
The authors for the first time showed that that the social media returns are derived not only from individual actions taken by the user (e.g. likes and shares) but also from users’ social interdependencies and the additional exposure that results from network effects.
Temporal lobectomy is an effective therapy for medically refractory temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), but may be complicated by amnestic syndromes. Therefore, pre-surgical evaluation to assess the ...risk/benefit ratio for surgery is required. Intracarotid amobarbital testing (IAT) is currently the most widely used method for assessing pre-surgical memory lateralization, but is relatively invasive. Over the past decade functional MRI (fMRI) has been shown to correlate with IAT for language lateralization, and also for memory lateralization in a small number of patients. This study was carried out to compare fMRI during memory encoding with IAT testing for memory lateralization, and to assess the predictive value of fMRI during memory encoding for post-surgical memory outcome. Thirty-five patients with refractory TLE undergoing pre-surgical evaluation for temporal lobectomy and 30 normal subjects performed a complex visual scene-encoding task during fMRI scanning at 1.5 T using a 10-min protocol. Encoding performance was evaluated with subsequent recognition testing. Twenty-three patients also completed the same task again outside the scanner, an average of 6.9 months following surgery. A region of interest (ROI) analysis was used to quantify activation within hippocampal and a larger mesial temporal lobe ROI consisting of hippocampus, parahippocampus and fusiform gyrus (HPF) as defined by a published template. Normal subjects showed almost symmetrical activation within these ROI. TLE patients showed greater asymmetry. Asymmetry ratios (ARs) from the HPF ROI correlated significantly with memory lateralization by intracarotid amobarbital testing. HPF ARs also correlated significantly with memory outcome, as determined by a change in scene recognition between pre-surgical and post-surgical trials. When absolute activation within the HPF ROI was considered, a significant inverse correlation between activation ipsilateral to temporal lobectomy and memory outcome was observed, with no significant correlation in the contralateral HPF ROI. Although further technical improvements and prospective clinical validation are required, these results suggest that mesial temporal memory activation detected by fMRI during complex visual scene encoding correlates with post-surgical memory outcome and supports the notion that this approach will ultimately contribute to patient management.

Pancreas segmentation is one of the most challenging tasks in medical image segmentation for its anatomical variability, large individual differences, irregular shape, small volume and complex surroundings. Many methods can achieve more accurate segmentation results on abdominal organs other than the pancreas. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a novel segmentation method ROI-VGGU-Net (Region of Image-Vision Geometry Group U-shaped Net) that can segment pancreases more accurately from a dynamical extracted region-of-interest (ROI) by our proposed deep learning model VGGU-Net, where the ROI is obtained by combining various location information of other surrounding organs (such as liver, spleen and kidney). Specifically, we first obtain the location of other organs around a pancreas through our proposed VGGU-Net. And then, we compute the center points of these located surrounding organs in every CT slice sequentially to form different ROIs of the pancreas through these center points. Finally, an accurate pancreas segmentation can be achieved through VGGU-Net according to the acquired ROIs. Our various experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of ROI-VGGU-Net.
Gender differences in emotion regulation (ER) have been postulated, yet their neural basis remains poorly understood. The goal of this study was to investigate this issue from a functional ...connectivity (FC) perspective. Utilizing a region of interest (ROI) analysis, we investigated whether men and women (N = 48) differed in their FC pattern while viewing versus regulating negative emotion induced by highly salient pictures, and whether this pattern related to their self-reported negative affect and suppression success. Despite women reporting more negative affect, both genders had comparable suppression success. Moreover, differences emerged between men and women's FC patterns. During the regulation of negative emotion, better suppression in women was associated with stronger FC within a cingulo-opercular network, while men exhibited stronger FC within posterior regions of the ventral attentional network. We conclude that due to their propensity for higher emotional reactivity, women may employ a frontal top-down control network to downregulate negative emotion, while men may redirect attention away from the negative stimulus by using posterior regions of the ventral attention network. The findings may have significant implications for understanding women's vulnerability for developing affective disorders and developing targeted individualized treatment.

RFID technologies may improve the potential benefits of supply chain management through reduction of inventory losses, increase of the efficiency and speed of processes and improvement of information ...accuracy. Various RFID systems can be obtained by combining different tags, readers, frequencies and levels of tagging, etc. The cost and potential profit of each system change in a wide range. In this paper, a state-of-the-art on RFID technology deployments in supply chains is given to analyze the impact on the supply chain performance. Potential benefits, particularly against inventory inaccuracy problems, the bullwhip effect and replenishment policies, are briefly surveyed. Various works addressing analytic modeling, simulations, case studies and experiments as well as ROI analyses are reviewed. Finally, conclusions and future research perspectives are presented.
As an advanced research topic in biometrics techniques, palmprint recognition has been fully studied for more than 20 years. Due to its superiority to other biological features, i.e. high recognition ...accuracy and convenience for practical application, many research achievements on palmprint have emerged recently, especially in the past decade. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of recent research progress of palmprint recognition as well as the basic background knowledge for it. In addition, it mainly focuses on data acquisition, database, preprocessing, feature extraction, matching and fusion. Ultimately, we discuss the challenges and future perspectives in palmprint recognition for further works.
