Poverty is a social reality in the dynamics of human life in the world. This social reality is also part of the Church's concern. The Church pays attention, cares, and conveys its teachings about ...poverty and ways to overcome it through its dynamic structure, which includes Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium. This study is literature research, with Indonesian contextualization. By textual analysis, this paper shows that in reflecting on various realities related to poverty, especially by using the scalpel of Theology of Liberation, the Church has concluded that poverty, especially structural poverty, is the fruit of social sin. Social sin is an individual sin built in such a way with various kinds of conditioning to become a massive structure. This study recommends the need for personal and communal repentance to destroy this structure of sin and, at the same time, lift people out of structural poverty.
Four experiments were conducted to investigate the implications of ‘substantive’ responses for the repair of trust following a violation and the cognitive processes that govern how and when they are ...effective. These studies examined two forms of substantive responses, penance and regulation, that represent different categories of trust repair attempts. The findings from Studies 1–3 suggest that both can be effective to the extent that they elicit the crucial mediating cognition of perceived repentance. Data from Study 2 revealed that trustors saw signals of repentance as more informative when the transgression was due to a lapse of competence than due to a lapse of integrity. Study 4 compared these substantive responses to apologies (a non-substantive response) and revealed that, despite their surface-level differences, they each repaired trust through ‘perceived repentance.’ The paper offers an integrative framework for understanding the relationships among a range of trustor responses.

This encyclopaedia article aims to provide an exhaustive investigation of the concept of Teshuva in Jewish thought, with a focus on its historical trajectory and multifaceted interpretations. The ...term teshuva in Hebrew etymologically means ‘return’, suggesting a journey back to an original state or condition or to the divine. Originating from biblical precepts, Teshuva has undergone substantive elaboration in Rabbinic literature and further intellectual treatment in subsequent Jewish writings. This article underscores the theological gravitas of Teshuva. To bring depth and nuance to this investigation, it integrates the contributions of four seminal Jewish scholars – Moses Maimonides, Nachman of Breslov, Abraham Isaac Kook, and Joseph B. Soloveitchik – each offering a unique conceptual framework of Teshuva. Their divergent viewpoints serve as a prism through which the richness and complexity of Teshuva are elucidated.
Themes of loss, grief, and vulnerability have come to occupy an increasingly central position in contemporary poststructuralist and feminist theory. Thinkers such as Judith Butler and Stephen White ...have argued that grief has the capacity to access or stage a commonality that eludes politics and on which a new cosmopolitan ethics can be built. Focusing on the role of grief in recent pro-refugee activism in Europe, this article argues that these ethical perspectives contribute to an ideological formation that disconnects connected histories and that turns questions of responsibility, guilt, restitution, repentance, and structural reform into matters of empathy, generosity, and hospitality. The result is a veil of ignorance which, while not precisely Rawlsian, allows the European subject to re-constitute itself as ‘ethical’ and ‘good’, innocent of its imperialist histories and present complicities.
The Effect of The Rehabilitation in The Social Integration Both sides of The Rehabilitation System are based upon the good morals. It targets maintaining human rights through reintegrating the ...released prisoners in society so as to bring the criminal phenomenon to an end on one hand. On the other hand, the society should admit that those convicts have paid their debts as Al Hadith of Our Messenger Mohammed Peace Be Upon Him goes, when the guilty she-goat was punished, « Their repentance can satisfy all the individuals of my nation. » On this basis, our research aims to find an approach between such a system and the system of repentance and between the legal texts and the mechanisms which help us well apply them.
