Given a graph G=(V,E), a function f:V→{0,1,2,3} having the property that if f(v)=0, then there exist v1,v2∈N(v) such that f(v1)=f(v2)=2 or there exists w∈N(v) such that f(w)=3, and if f(v)=1, then ...there exists w∈N(v) such that f(w)≥2 is called a double Roman dominating function (DRDF). The weight of a DRDF f is the sum f(V)=∑v∈Vf(v), and the minimum weight of a DRDF on G is the double Roman domination number, γdR(G) of G. In this paper, we show that γdR(G)+2⩽γdR(M(G))⩽γdR(G)+3, where M(G) is the Mycielskian graph of G. For any two positive integers a and b we construct a graph G and an induced subgraph H of G such that γdR(G)=a and γdR(H)=b and conclude that there is no relation between the double Roman domination number of a graph and its induced subgraph. We also study the impact of edge addition on double Roman domination number and find an upperbound in terms of order and diameter.

Houshold objects (instrumenta domestica) from the Insula del Menandro are used to examine decorative principles, their correlation and interaction. Ancient object design is not only an expression of ...a visual culture, but rather an active part of it, as the objects are associated with activities, visual perception and semantic interpretation. These objects of Roman everyday life reflect cultural knowledge, social norms, values and lifestyles.
In his history of the Second Punic War, Livy describes in grisly detail the final moments of L. Postumius Albinus (pr. 216 BCE), who fell in battle to the Gallic Boii: “The Boii stripped his body of ...its spoils and cut off the head and bore them in triumph to the most sacred of their temples. According to their custom they cleaned out the skull and covered the scalp with beaten gold; it was then used as a vessel for libations” (23.24.6-13). Livy’s Gauls were wild, fierce, and wholly barbaric to Roman eyes. Such depictions were a common literary topos but differ starkly from the visual stereotype of the Gallic warrior that developed beginning in the second century BCE: the subdued and bound captive. By tracing the origins and function of the Gallic warrior topos in Roman visual culture, this paper argues that the very dissonance of these representations lent symbolic power to the image of the captured Gaul. In stamping such images on the coins that funded further war efforts, the Romans made potent claims to dominance over Gallic peoples. These martial coins, however, did not serve merely as a vehicle for Roman self-fashioning, they circulated among conquered peoples, whose own coin iconography adapted to and reacted against Roman authority. Drawing on the same visual language that rendered them permanently captive, Gallic elites carved out their own potent claims to power within the new landscape of Roman dominance.
White discusses their investigation of Roman foods at Lechaion Harbor in Greece exploring the recipes of ancient dockworkers. The archaeological record is an accumulation of debris from human ...activities. Remnants of foods containing plant and animal ingredients can be collected and studied by archaeologists. This summer, the Lechaion archaeological project teamed up with Soulis and Evangalia Kondyli, the proprietors of Tassos Taverna in Ancient Corinth, to recreate a Roman meal.
Résumé : La trame narrative du roman francophone intitulé Mémoire de porc-épic du Congolais Alain Mabanckou est saturé d’isotopies tant animales que végétales qui enseignent et sensibilisent le ...lecteur sur la biodiversité d’autant qu’elles rendent bien compte de la richesse que regorgent la faune et la flore africaine. Le narrateur est d’ailleurs un porc-épic qui, dans une sorte de repentir, raconte non seulement les différentes missions sordides que lui confiait son double humain, mais également évoque le type de rapport qu’il entretenait avec d’autres animaux. En fait, les différentes séquences narratives de ce roman témoignent de cette forte présence de la biodiversité dans ce texte au travers de la vie que mènent tous ces êtres vivants dans cette forêt dense africaine. Ici, les bêtes sont quasiment personnifiées puisqu’elles jouent les mêmes rôles que les humains.
La présente contribution part du constat de l’intermédialité foisonnante dans les productions (artistiques, littéraires) africaines contemporaines. Prenant l’exemple du roman Impossible de grandir de ...Fatou Diome, l’étude, basée sur une approche intermédiale, s’intéresse à la manière dont la musique s’intègre dans l’architecture de cette œuvre pour, enfin, mettre en lumière les enjeux que recèle la cohabitation entre la littérature et l’art acoustique. Il apparait que celui-ci participe du tissage du texte romanesque et constitue un élément central de la quête d’une identité en crise. Ce faisant, la musique dans le roman en question, « reconnecte » le personnage migrant de Fatou Diome à ses origines tout en lui permettant de marquer son ancrage dans sa terre d’adoption.

C. Se incluyen referencias a soldados orientales testimoniados epigráficamente en la ciudad.
