La conclusión del monumental templo monasterial de San Julián de Samos (Lugo) en 1748 fue posible gracias a la cesión de los derechos de impresión y reimpresión y los beneficios de la venta de los ...seis primeros tomos del Theatro Crítico Universal (1726, 1728, 1729, 1730, 1733 y 1734) y de la Ilustración apologética (1729) que en 1734 el padre Benito Jerónimo Feijoo (1676-1764) hizo a la que había sido la casa de su noviciado y profesión religiosa (1690 y 1692). El dato era conocido de la erudición, pues ya dio noticias el padre fray Martín Sarmiento, amigo y corresponsal de Feijoo además de cronista de la orden benedictina, en un informe manuscrito de 1743 (publicado en 1879), y fray Eladio de Nóboa (1765) y, a partir de ellos, se ha venido repitiendo, aunque sin convicción. Publicamos ahora ese documento de 1734 y, a su vista y de la obra literaria del padre Feijoo, hacemos algunas observaciones sobre la fábrica barroca del monasterio de Samos.

On 30.10.2020, a Mw = 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred at the offshore Aegean Sea, hitting the western coast of Turkey and Samos Island of Greece, causing loss of lives and properties. In the scope ...of this study, a site investigation was conducted at the earthquake-hit area of İzmir (Turkey), where 17 buildings (7 partially, 10 totally) were collapsed and many of them were heavily damaged. The impact of the Aegean Sea Earthquake on structures in the İzmir region, as observed during this site investigation is presented in this paper. The seismic vulnerabilities of structures, by referring to the observed typical damages caused by the earthquake, are discussed and preliminary analyses were also conducted in two reinforced concrete buildings to investigate the causes of seismic damages. The damage mechanisms are explained to highlight the causes and defects that led to failure of structures and recommendations are made for preventing such failures and life losses in the future. In additional to the structural damages, widespread non-structural damages which can make buildings non-functional are investigated. This paper also outlines seismological aspects of the region and characteristics of the recorded strong ground motion.
In this article the type localities of 21 Bythinella spp. hitherto known from Greece are presented on a map. Twelve of these species are described as new for science. Unfortunately we had not enough ...materials for dissections, so the descriptions are based on the shell characters only, like almost all other known Bythinella spp. from Greece.
On the 30th of October 2020, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred 14 km north of Samos Island, causing 119 casualties (117 in Izmir, Türkiye, and 2 in Samos, Greece) and significant damage in the 3rd ...biggest city of Türkiye, Izmir. Although the city is roughly 70 km far away from the epicenter, the damage was significant and concentrated in the city center settled on alluviums. This paper aims to analyze the distribution of damage in Izmir province, by crosschecking the recorded motions, the subsoil conditions and the evidence of damage as collected by an ad-hoc on-site reconnaissance. The intrinsic behavior of the Samos earthquake was investigated by employing three different ground-motion prediction equations. The results of the analyses revealed that site effects play a significant role in the amplification of ground motions, and valley effects are responsible for the concentration of damage. The damage in buildings was classified in terms of the intensity and structural typologies for the 30 districts of Izmir metropolitan area. In-depth analysis of the distribution of damages revealed that the earthquake caused damage all over the boundaries of Izmir province, and the concentration of damage in Bornova and Karşıyaka districts has a clear correlation with double resonance effects.
Entre finales de 1835 y principios de 1836 se redactaron los llamados inventarios de las herrerías del monasterio de San Julián de Samos, dentro del proceso desamortizador en el que, de forma ...general, se vieron envueltas todas las casas religiosas españolas. En el presente artículo proponemos utilizar estos documentos como recurso de aproximación al estudio de dichas herrerías en el momento de producirse su secularización, con el objetivo final de dar a conocer una parte de su historia, recuperar valores hoy perdidos y, en definitiva, entender cómo eran y cómo estaban organizados los distintos espacios de lo que hoy es un patrimonio industrial monacal desaparecido o muy transformado.

No presente artigo propoñemos utilizar estes documentos como recurso de aproximación ao estudo de ditas ferrerías no momento de producirse a súa secularización, co obxectivo final de dar a coñecer unha parte da súa historia, recuperar valores hoxe perdidos e, en definitiva, entender como eran e como estaban organizados os distintos espazos do que hoxe é un patrimonio industrial monacal desaparecido ou moi transformado.
On 30 October 2020, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.0 occurred north of Samos Island at the Eastern Aegean Sea, whose earthquake mechanism corresponds to an E-W normal fault dipping to the north. ...During the aftershock period in December 2020, a hydrographic survey off the northern coastal margin of Samos Island was conducted onboard R/V NAFTILOS. The result was a detailed bathymetric map with 15 m grid interval and 50 m isobaths and a morphological slope map. The morphotectonic analysis showed the E-W fault zone running along the coastal zone with 30–50° of slope, forming a half-graben structure. Numerous landslides and canyons trending N-S, transversal to the main direction of the Samos coastline, are observed between 600 and 100 m water depth. The ENE-WSW oriented western Samos coastline forms the SE margin of the neighboring deeper Ikaria Basin. A hummocky relief was detected at the eastern margin of Samos Basin probably representing volcanic rocks. The active tectonics characterized by N-S extension is very different from the Neogene tectonics of Samos Island characterized by NE-SW compression. The mainshock and most of the aftershocks of the October 2020 seismic activity occur on the prolongation of the north dipping E-W fault zone at about 12 km depth.
