Dans cette étude, nous analyserons deux phénomènes complexes, celui de la transcendance et de la transgression, incarnés dans l'écriture de l'auteur suisse Jacques Chessex. Son style provocant, ...ambigu représente un monde plein de dualités qui sont liées, qui se complètent et donnent un nouveau point de vue sur les trois thèmes principaux de sa création : la femme, la mort et Dieu. Les deux phénomènes apparaissent comme le centre de gravité de ce triptyque chessexien et éclaircissent ainsi sa philosophie et pensée. L'analyse s'appuie sur le roman La Confession du Pasteur Burg pour montrer la manifestation de la trinité et illustre bien la transcendance et la transgression perçues par Jacques Chessex.
Family relations and women’s destinies are two recurrent themes in the novels of two prominent figures of the French-speaking Swiss literature, Anne-Lise Grobéty (1949–2010) and Rose-Marie Pagnard ...(1943–). Although depicting different universes, more politicized in the first and more poetic in the second, a cross-reading of their works allows to observe a similarity in the treatment of the evolution of the feminine cause within the family unit. Two novels from the 1970–1990 period, «Pour mourir en février» (1970) by Grobéty and «La Leçon de Judith» (1993) by Pagnard, attest to the young girl’s difficulty in building her own identity within her family. The female friendship is presented in both works as a prerequisite for the personal fulfilment of female figures. However, it is rejected by the family who perceives it as a threat to the established patriarchal order. On the other hand, filiation novels of the 2000’s, «La Corde de mi» (2006) by Grobéty and «J’aime ce qui vacille» (2018) by Pagnard, reveal an appeasement of the relations between the young girl and her family, in particular the father figure. The sorority is accepted and even recognised as an aid to the reconstruction of the family bond.
This volume brings together two very popular and active research fields: Swiss Studies and Intercultural Studies. It includes contributions on the movement of ideas, literatures, and individuals from ...one culture to another or one language to another, and the ways in which they have been either assimilated or questioned. All of the writers explore this general theme; some come from a literary angle, some look at linguistic inventiveness and translation, whilst others study the problems faced when crossing geographical and cultural borders or presenting ideas which do not 'travel' well. By emphasising the connections, borrowings and mutual influences between Switzerland and other countries such as Germany, Hungary, France, the UK, and the Americas, the articles reaffirm the importance for Switzerland of intellectual openness and cultural exchange.
This article analizes the theme (motif) of food in Un navire chargé de..., a folk tale rewritten by Italo Calvino and Lise, l’îleby Jacques Probst. The Italian tale and the Suiss monologue actually ...represent two different ways of using food elements in the construction of a text. The first uses the thematic elements in a punctual way, in the crucial moments of the action which correspond to the strong points of the fable; this strategy is called structural deploymentof the thematic cluster. The second text, exploiting the absence of food, involves food elements over its entire extent and at different levels of its structure, what we call diffuse deployment (of the thematic cluster).
Les critiques situent un tournant important dans l'écriture du poète romand Philippe Jaccottet, qui se produit vers le début des années 1960, période où les vers, autrefois sombres et austères, sont ...devenus souples et limpides. C'est justement à cette époque-là que Jaccottet découvre le haïku, poésie japonaise qui exercera une influence profonde et durable sur lui, surtout au niveau de sa poétique et de sa perception de l'image de l'auteur. Suivant ces deux pistes, nous envisageons d'étudier comment le poète cherche à intégrer l'art du haïku dans sa propre poésie afin de voir dans quelle mesure le haïku le fascine non seulement par son esthétique mais également par une vision du monde inouïe, qui permet ainsi au poète de sortir du maelstrom spirituel de son temps et de trouver une nouvelle issue tant pour soi que pour la société humaine.
Jean‐Jacques Rousseau's works are often a touchstone and inspiration for many when it comes to thinking carefully about domination. We find Rousseau‐inspired analyses across a wide range of political ...theories centering the concept of domination, from republicanism, liberalism, and Marxism to critical theory, feminisms, and beyond. This article aims to raise questions about a powerful, prevailing, and compelling reading of Rousseau's conception of domination. Beyond that, I hope to offer further insight into the components of his view of domination by centering his account of sexuality as a domination/subordination relation. Ultimately, I suggest that Rousseau's considered view is that domination is a matter of being in a dependency relation. In other words, to be dependent upon others (whether a particular other or group of others) is sufficient for being dominated. However, not all domination relations are illegitimate. Both sexuality and the specific case of forming a social compact are sites of domination relations that can be rendered legitimate under certain conditions.

Can one "know everything"? In the past, there were people who came close to doing so, but it seems impossible to have contemporaries who know everything. Certainly, some texts aspire to "say ...everything"; and the French expression tout dire has a venerable history. Yet saying everything is not the same as polymathy. Can texts, however, be polymaths? A case for an affirmative answer to the question is made by way of passive constitution.
