Centipedes of temperate regions can be found in various habitats, including forest litter, soil or caves. Slovenia, situated in the Northwestern Balkans, has rich centipede fauna, with one of the ...earliest scientific descriptions of a cave centipede, Lithobius stygius Latzel, 1880, from Postojnska jama. Many lithobiomorph species have been reported from Slovenian caves, but the data on their occurrence are scattered in the literature or public collections, and several specimens have even remained unexamined. Here we present the overview of lithobiomorph centipedes found in Slovenian caves. Altogether, 21 lithobiomorph species were found in 160 localities. The majority of the records, 319 out of 410, are published for the first time. Only three species are considered exclusively subterranean species, L. stygius, L. zveri and Eupolybothrus obrovensis, while other species are surface dwellers. The potential explanation of surface species presence in caves is discussed. We comment on cases of unresolved taxonomical status and present suggestions for further research needed to resolve them. Even though lithobiomorph centipedes often occur in caves, their role and importance in subterranean habitats remain to be studied.

Zapis v romanski minuskuli je dvokolonski. Besedilo je izpisano s črno oziroma temno rjavo tinto, medtem ko so incipiti, ekspliciti, številke poglavij in določena imena izpisani z rdečo tinto. Prav tako so z rdečo tinto narisane manjše razlagalne risbe. Geometrično stilizirano drevo krvnega sorodstva (Arbor consanguinitatis, f. 80r) je izrisano v kombinaciji črne in rdeče tinte. V začetnicah stavkov je mestoma uporabljena tudi rumena tinta. Današnja vezava (rjavo usnje prek kartonske osnove) je iz let 1765-1780.Okras: Kodeks krasi 21 velikih slikarskih inicial (f. 1r, 3r, 16v, 26v, 34r, 37v, 44v, 53v, 63v, 71v, 81r, 88r, 94r, 105r, 110v, 118r, 125r, 134r, 143r, 148v, 157r) in več sto preprostejših, 2-5 vrstic visokih kaligrafskih inicial v rdeči tinti. Slikarske iniciale so delo t. i. Izidorjevega mojstra, po mnenju Nataše Golob pa je pri posameznih sodeloval tudi t. i. Gregorjev mojster. Iniciala T in diagram s shematično razdelitvijo Zemlje, f. 110v: po mnenju Nataše Golob je iniciala, ki uvaja poglavje o Zemlji, delo t. i. Izidorjevega mojstra. Deblo črke je izrisano z rdečo tinto in elegantno razcepljeno, medtem ko so okrasne sponke izrisane s črno tinto in nežno obarvane z rumeno barvo. Slikarsko polje je zapolnjeno z bogatim vitičevjem, ki je s štirimi dekorativnimi sponkami pripeto na telo črke, dodatne tri sponke pa medsebojno povezujejo vitice. Ozadje je zapolnjeno s pokrivno azurno modro, rumeno oker in travnato zeleno barvo. V desnem stolpcu sta dva zanimiva diagrama: prvi ponazarja tradicionalno srednjeveško razdelitev sveta na tri dele, ki ustrezajo trem takrat znanim celinam – Aziji, Evropi in Afriki. Drugi pa svet razdeli na tri dele skladno z biblično tradicijo, po kateri naj bi Noe, kot pojasnjuje Izidor Seviljski, po vesoljnem potopu razdelil zemljo med tri sinove: severni del pripada Jafetu, južni Hamu, medtem ko je srednji del Setova dediščina.(Katalog rokopisov; Germ 2005, str. 86-87; gl. tudi Kos-Stele 1931, str. 31-32; Golob 1994, str. 184-185; Lackner 2001.)
The paper presents the results of the study of the current and simulated structure of beech forests in the Lány game preserve, which is situated in the Krivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area in the ...Czech Republic. The research was conducted at two permanent research plots (PRP) of 0.25 ha in size in a mature beech forest using the FieldMap technology. Typological, soil and phytocoenological stand characteristics and the history of management of both PRP are comparable; however, they differ in the protection against wildlife. The results demonstrated that deer species including red deer (Cervus elaphus L. - 300 head), sika deer (Cervus nippon nippon Temm. - 300 head), mouflon (Ovis musimon Pallas - 250 head) and fallow deer (Dama dama L. - 300 head) is a limiting factor for successful development of natural regeneration of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.). Natural regeneration on PRP 1 with wild boar herd (Sus scrofa L. - 150 head) is sufficient in relation to site and stand conditions. On the contrary, there is no regeneration on PRP 2 with the occurrence of deer species. The results of biometric measurements and subsequent predictions by the SIBYLA forest biodynamics simulator indicate that the stands are insignificantly structured, mature, productive beech stands with the absence of individuals in the lower tree layer.
