In the introduction to The Psychology of the Transference (1946), Carl Jung sketched out a theory of “erotic phenomenology” which condenses his teaching about sexuality and romantic love into a very ...concise summary. But the meaning of this passage is obscured in the English translation given in the Collected Works of C. G. Jung. I propose here a new translation which makes Jung’s meaning clearer, along with a commentary which explains it in the context of Freudian drive theory and German 19th century philosophy. Invoking the concepts of instinct, mind, and Eros (both the passion and the divine figure), Jung’s theory says that male sexual desire can be cultivated or repressed in four distinct ways, each associated with a female symbolic figure or anima image: Eve, Helen, Mary and Sophia.

Mais le sens de ce passage est brouillé dans la traduction anglaise des Collected Works of C.G. Jung. Je propose ici une nouvelle traduction qui rend l'argument de Jung plus clair, suivie d'un commentaire qui l'explique dans le contexte de la théorie freudienne des pulsions et de la philosophie allemande du XIXe siècle. Invoquant les concepts d'instinct, d'esprit et d'Eros (en tant que passion ainsi que figure divine), la théorie de Jung dit que le désir sexuel masculin peut être cultivé ou réprimé de quatre manières distinctes, chacune associée à une figure symbolique féminine ou image de l'anima: Eve, Hélène, Marie et Sophia.
In der Einleitung zu Die Psychologie der Uebertragung (1946) skizzierte Carl Jung eine «erotischen Phänomenologie», die seine Lehren über Sexualität und romantische Liebe in einer sehr prägnanten Zusammenfassung umreißt. Aber die Bedeutung dieser Passage ist in der englischen Übersetzung in den Collected Works of C.G. Jung unklar. Ich schlage hier eine neue Übersetzung vor, die Jungs Bedeutung klarer macht, zusammen mit einem Kommentar, der sie im Kontext der Freudschen Triebtheorie und der deutschen Philosophie des 19. Jahrhunderts erklärt. Unter Berufung auf die Konzepte des Instinkts und Triebe, des Geistes und des Eros (sowohl der Leidenschaft als auch der göttlichen Figur) besagt Jungs Theorie, daß männliches sexuelles Verlangen auf vier verschiedene Arten kultiviert oder unterdrückt werden kann, die jeweils mit einer weiblichen Symbolfigur oder einem Animabild verbunden sind: Eva, Helena, Maria und Sophia.

Riferendosi ai concetti d'istinto, mente ed Eros (intendendo sia la passione che la figura divina), la teoria di Jung afferma che il desiderio sessuale maschile può essere coltivato o represso in quattro modi distinti, ciascuno associato a una figura simbolica femminile o immagine dell'Anima: Eva, Elena, Maria e Sofia.

Pero el significado de este pasaje queda opacado en la traducción inglesa de las Obras Completas de C.G. Jung. Propongo aquí una nueva traducción que aclara el significado de Jung, junto con un comentario que lo explica en el contexto de la teoría freudiana de la pulsión y la filosofía alemana del siglo XIX. Invocando los conceptos de instinto, mente y Eros (tanto la pasión como la figura divina), la teoría de Jung expresa que el deseo sexual masculino puede cultivarse o reprimirse de cuatro maneras distintas, cada una asociada a una figura simbólica femenina o imagen del ánima: Eva, Helena, María y Sofía.

Aristotle's De Anima is the first systematic philosophical account of the soul, which serves to explain the functioning of all mortal living things. In his commentary, Ronald Polansky argues that the ...work is far more structured and systematic than previously supposed. He contends that Aristotle seeks a comprehensive understanding of the soul and its faculties. By closely tracing the unfolding of the many-layered argumentation and the way Aristotle fits his inquiry meticulously within his scheme of the sciences, Polansky answers questions relating to the general definition of soul and the treatment of each of the soul's principal capacities: nutrition, sense perception, phantasia, intellect, and locomotion. The commentary sheds light on every section of the De Anima and the work as a unit. It offers a challenge to earlier and current interpretations of the relevance and meaning of Aristotle's highly influential treatise.

This paper will focus on what the author calls the ‘green factor’: the ‘plant world’s’ ability to foster and manifest profound healing and self‐healing processes. This factor could be considered an ...element capable of promoting the analytic couple’s journey in individuation through a good enough rhythmical interaction. Such interaction is made possible by creating and maintaining, in therapy, a good level of empathy, mirroring and resonance that ‐ echoing natural cyclical rhythms primarily in non‐verbal communication ‐ fosters the passage from dissociation to integration. This dynamic depends mainly on paying constant attention to the various kinds of images referring to nature, both inside and outside ourselves, i.e. attention on the green world that reconnects us with the wider ecosystem of which we human beings form a part. The author suggests that remembering and respecting the profound relationship between ‘Mind and Earth’ or Psyche and Gaia means developing and cultivating an ecological attitude or eco‐oriented epistemology, a theory according to which, individual wellbeing can be considered a fragment of the health of our planet, in the same way as the individual anima is a spark of anima mundi. This theory has been embraced by numerous scholars ranging from Jung to Bateson, Mancuso and Schore.
Cet article portera sur ce que j’appelle « le facteur vert » : la capacité du monde végétal à soutenir et manifester des processus profonds de guérison et d’auto‐guérison. Je suggère que ce facteur est un élément capable de promouvoir le voyage du couple analytique en individuation à travers une interaction rythmique suffisamment bonne. Une telle interaction est rendue possible en créant et en faisant la maintenance, dans la thérapie, d’un bon niveau d’empathie, d’émulation et de résonnance, principalement par la communication non‐verbale qui fait écho aux rythmes cycliques naturels et qui ainsi soutient le passage de la dissociation à l’intégration. Je décris comment cette dynamique dépend du fait que l’on accorde une attention constante aux images diverses qui surviennent (à la fois en soi et à l’extérieur de soi) à 'le mond vert' qui nous lie de nouveau à l'écosystème plus vaste dont nous les humains formons une partie. Je suggère également que de se souvenir et de respecter la relation profonde entre l’esprit et la terre ou la psyché et Gaïa signifie développer et cultiver une attitude écologique ou une épistémologie éco‐orientée. Il s’agit là d’une théorie selon laquelle le bien‐être individuel peut être compris comme un fragment de la santé de notre planète, de la même manière que l’anima individuelle est une étincelle de l’anima mundi. Cette théorie a été adoptée par de nombreux chercheurs allant de Jung lui‐même à Bateson, Mancuso et Schore.
Dieser Text konzentriert sich auf das, was ich den ‘grünen Faktor' nenne: die Fähigkeit der Pflanzenwelt, tiefgreifende Heilungs‐ und Selbstheilungsprozesse zu fördern und in Erscheinung treten zu lassen. Ich schlage vor, diesen Faktor als ein Element anzusehen das in der Lage ist, die Reise des analytischen Paares zur Individuation durch eine ausreichend gute rhythmische Interaktion zu fördern. Eine solche Interaktion wird ermöglicht, indem in der Therapie ein gutes Maß an Empathie, Spiegelung und Resonanz geschaffen und aufrechterhalten wird, hauptsächlich durch nonverbale Kommunikation, die natürliche zyklische Rhythmen widerspiegelt und dadurch den Übergang von der Dissoziation zur Integration fördert. Ich beschreibe, wie diese Dynamik davon abhängt, daß wir ständig auf die verschiedenen Bilder achten, die (sowohl innerhalb als auch außerhalb von uns selbst) zwischen dem analytischen Paar der ‘grünen Welt' entstehen, die uns wieder mit dem breiteren Ökosystem verbindet, von dem wir Menschen ein Teil sind. Ich schlage weiter vor, daß das Erinnern und Respektieren der tiefgreifenden Beziehung zwischen Geist und Erde oder Psyche und Gaia bedeutet, eine ökologische Haltung oder eine ökoorientierte Erkenntnistheorie zu entwickeln und zu kultivieren, eine Theorie, nach der das individuelle Wohlbefinden als Teil der Gesundheit unseres Planeten angesehen werden kann, ebenso wie die individuelle Anima ein Funke der anima mundi ist. Diese Theorie wurde von zahlreichen Gelehrten angenommen, von Jung selbst bis zu Bateson, Mancuso und Schore.
Questo articolo si concentrerà su ciò che io chiamo il “fattore verde”: la capacità del mondo vegetale di promuovere e manifestare profondi processi di guarigione e autoguarigione. Suggerisco che questo fattore sia un elemento in grado di facilitare il cammino di individuazione della coppia analitica attraverso un'interazione ritmica sufficientemente buona. Tale interazione è resa possibile creando e mantenendo, in terapia, un buon livello di empatia, rispecchiamento e risonanza, che richiamando i ritmi ciclici naturali ‐ principalmente attraverso la comunicazione non verbale ‐ favorisce così il passaggio dalla dissociazione all'integrazione. Descrivo come questa dinamica dipenda dall'analisi costante delle varie immagini che sorgono (dentro e fuori di noi stessi), per esempio l'attenzione nella coppia analitica al “mondo verde”, che ci riconnette con l'ecosistema più ampio di cui noi esseri umani facciamo parte. Suggerisco inoltre che ricordare e rispettare il profondo rapporto tra mente e Terra, o psiche e Gaia, significa sviluppare e coltivare un atteggiamento ecologico o un’epistemologia eco‐orientata, teoria secondo la quale il benessere individuale può essere considerato un frammento della salute del nostro pianeta, allo stesso modo in cui l’anima individuale è una scintilla dell'anima mundi. Questa teoria è stata abbracciata da numerosi studiosi che vanno dallo stesso Jung fino a Bateson, Mancuso e Schore.
Статья посвящена тому, что я называю “зеленым фактором”: способности растительного мира запускать и обнаруживать мощные процессы исцеления и самоисцеления. Я полагаю, что данный фактор может стать элементом, содействовующим путешествию аналитической пары в индивидуацию при достаточно хорошем ритмическом взаимодействии. Такое взаимодействие становится возможным благодаря созданию и поддержанию в терапии хорошего уровня эмпатии, отзеркаливания и резонанса, прежде всего с помощью невербальной коммуникации, в которой отражаются естественные циклические ритмы, что способствует переходу от диссоциации к интеграции. Я пишу о том, что эта динамика зависит от постоянного внимания к возникающим в аналитической паре (как внутри, так и вне нас) образам “зеленого мира”, который воссоединяет нас с более широкой экосистемой, частью которой мы, люди, являемся. Я также полагаю, что помнить и уважать глубокие отношения между сознанием и землей, или психикой и Геей, означает развивать и культивировать экологическое отношение, или эко‐ориентированную эпистемологию – теорию, согласно которой индивидуальное благополучие можно рассматривать как фрагмент здоровья нашей планеты, точно так же, как индивидуальная анима является искрой anima mundi. Эта теория была принята многими учеными – от самого Юнга до Бейтсона, Манкузо и Шора.
El presente trabajo se focalizará en lo que denomino ‘el factor verde’: la habilidad del mundo vegetal para promover y manifestar procesos profundos de curación y de autocuración. Sugiero que este factor es un elemento capaz de promover el proceso de individuación de la pareja analítica a través de una interacción rítmica suficientemente buena. Dicha interacción deviene posible al crear y mantener, en terapia, un buen nivel de empatía, espejamiento y resonancia, principalmente a través de comunicaciones no‐verbales, las cuales reflejan ritmos cíclicos naturales, promoviendo de este modo el pasaje de la disociación a la integración. Describo cómo esta dinámica se basa en el prestar constante atención a las diversas imágenes que emergen (tanto dentro como fuera de nosotros mismos) entre la pareja analítica del ‘mundo verde’ que nos reconecta con un ecosistema más amplio del cual formamos parte como seres humanos. También sugiero que recordar y respetar la profunda relación entre mente y tierra o psique y Gaia significa desarrollar y cultivar una actitud ecológica o una epistemología orientada ecológicamente, una teoría de acuerdo con la cual el bienestar individual puede ser considerado un fragmento de la salud de nuestro planeta, del mismo modo que el anima individual es un destello del anima mundi. Esta teoría ha sido acogida por numerosos académicos, desde el mismo Jung a Bateson, Mancuso y Schore.

This paper begins with an illustration from the HBO series 'In Treatment' and alludes to the gender bias in the portrayal of male and female analysts' erotic countertransference on screen. The author ...includes several clinical vignettes from her clinical practice, taking a critical stance on the use of the oedipal myth as a concept or tool in analytic treatment. It is suggested that we need to turn this myth on its head in the consulting room as well as on screen, and see that the analyst may be the one who is blind; who needs to own up to her own desires in treatment.

L’any 2021 un col·lectiu d’artistes va inaugurar a Girona una instal·lació que mereix una anàlisi detallada, donada la densitat de referències que presenta. El col·lectiu va titular la instal·lació ...Incerta via, un projecta on explícitament pretenien fer una recerca en les arrels espirituals de l’art, un plantejament que es posava de palès a les diverses parts de la instal·lació, organitzades com cinc etapes d’un procés. La intenció espiritual, segons la interpretació proposada a l’article, entronca amb els misteris de l’Antiguitat i amb l’hermetisme neoplatònic renaixentista, consistiria en estimular la imaginació per, amb aquesta, intuir una via d’ascens cap al món intel·ligible en termes platònics. Incerta via plantejava un recorregut físic per a, per analogia, traslladar-se a una geografia imaginal, una trajectòria física anàloga a la duta a terme per l’anima mundi platònica i que induís a l’experiència d’un procés de comprensió anímica. La manera de comunicar coneixement en aquesta dimensió és mitjançant imatges simbòliques enigmàtiques. Amb aquest horitzó cultural, objectius i experiències, la instal·lació actualitzaria els misteris de l’Antiguitat, replicaria idees de presocràtics, platòniques (Plató i neoplatònics com Plotí o Macrobi) i hermètiques (Corpus hermeticum) segons s’argumenta i es mostra a l’article.
Androgyny as the idea of unity and wholeness appears in the thought of Gaston Bachelard in the context of a poetic dream. It is in it, as we learn from “Poetics of Dreams”, that the reconciliation of ...anima and animus, female and male in one psyche takes place. The anima dream is called by the French philosopher the philosophy of androgynous existence, which shows us a double idealization of humanity. The anima and animus, confirming the androgyny of the psyche, are Self-moments. This dual nature of mental being is expressed through two antagonisms represented by the function of reality (adaptation to reality and social life) and the function of irreality (loneliness of dreams); supervised thought (criticism, censorship) and free dreaming (liking, acceptance, attachment); work (effort) and rest (relaxation); anxiety (project, anticipation) and peace (presence in oneself) - especially around the duality that crystallizes in the distinction between the scientific mind (l'esprit scientifique) under the sign of the animus (concepts, knowledge) and the poetic mind (l'esprit poetique) anima (images, communion of souls). Androgyny, understood as the integral life of the psyche, is for Bachelard perspective and valuable, and he identifies attempts to seek it with the question of the meaning of human existence. The study of the dream shows its fundamental importance for the balance of the psyche. The power of images understood in this way then creates the art of living. In this sense, Bachelard becomes a precursor of a new perspective in the field of reflection on the issue of the image - it turns out that the image is responsible for the relationship between man and the world.
Androgynia jako idea jedności i całości pojawia się w myśli Gastona Bachelarda w kontekście marzenia poetyckiego. To w nim bowiem – o czym dowiadujemy się z Poetyki marzenia - dochodzi do pojednania animy i animusa, żeńskiego i męskiego w jednej psyche. Marzenie będące spod znaku anima francuski filozof nazywa filozofią bytu androgynicznego, która ukazuje nam podwójną idealizację człowieczeństwa. Anima i animus, potwierdzające androgynię psyche, są momentami Ja. Ta dualna natura bytu psychicznego wyraża się poprzez dwa antagonizmy przedstawione za pomocą funkcji realności (adaptacja do rzeczywistości i życia społecznego) i funkcji irrealności (samotność marzenia); myśli nadzorowanej (krytyka, cenzura) i wolnego marzenia (sympatia, przyjęcie, przyłączenie); pracy (wysiłek) i odpoczynku (rozluźnienie); niepokoju (projekt, antycypacja) i spokoju (obecność w sobie) - a zwłaszcza wokół dualności, która krystalizuje się w odróżnieniu umysłu naukowego (l’esprit scientifique) spod znaku animusa (pojęcia, wiedza) od umysłu poetyckiego (l’esprit poetique) spod znaku animy (obrazy, komunia dusz). Androgynia rozumiana jako życie integralne psyche dla Bachelarda jest perspektywiczna i wartościowa a próby jej poszukiwania utożsamia z pytaniem o sens ludzkiej egzystencji. Studia nad marzeniem ukazują jego fundamentalne znaczenie dla równowagi psyche. Tak rozumiana siła obrazów kreuje wówczas sztukę życia. W tym sensie, Bachelard staje się prekursorem nowego spojrzenia w dziedzinie refleksji nad problematyką obrazu – okazuje się, że to obraz odpowiada za relację, która zachodzi między człowiekiem a światem.
L’obiettivo del testo è di indagare se sia possibile attribuire a Platone una concezione dualista della natura umana, quindi se il filosofo possa essere inscritto nella linea dei pensatori che si ...sono posti il cosiddetto “Mind-Body Problem”. In molteplici passi dei dialoghi platonici si rinviene l’affermazione che il corpo e l’anima costituiscono due nature differenti e, in certa misura, incompatibili. D’altro canto, la relazione fra corpo e anima è costitutiva dell’uomo e si rende manifesta nell’atto della percezione. La presente riflessione si svilupperà in tre momenti. Dapprima esporremo le ragioni per cui è giustificato affermare che esiste in Platone una differenza fra anima e corpo; quindi analizzeremo l’unione di anima e corpo come attributo essenziale della natura umana; termineremo l’indagine attraverso la ricerca della “ghiandola pineale platonica”, ossia l’elemento che permette di parlare di anima e corpo come di una relazione duale che si costituisce non come una unità indifferenziata, né come una giustapposizione di fattori estranei l’uno all’altro. La nostra proposta consiste nel mostrare che lo scambio di informazioni fra anima e corpo avviene attraverso una modifica nelle proporzioni matematico armoniche che articolano entrambe le potenze.
This note reviews the new translation of Aristotle’s De Anima and Parva Naturalia by Fred D. Miller Jr. Against its backdrop, the importance of these psychological treatises for interdisciplinary, ...rhetorical research is also analyzed, with special emphasis on both Aristotelian criticism and the arts of memory from Antiquity to the early modern period.
