Atheism has had a strong presence on YouTube since its founding in the mid-2000s, which coincided with the rise of the new atheism movement, and lay atheists were quick to use the platform to spread ...new atheist ideas. Drawing from a sample of sixty-five atheist YouTube channels located and observed through online ethnographic methods, this article views YouTube videos as educational resources for atheists. It investigates different types of educational videos and ways of thinking about science, philosophy, and religion that atheist content creators utilize and promote. The analysis reveals that they consistently frame these domains of knowledge through the truth claims they make and generally construct them within a hierarchical framework, with scientific knowledge at the top and religious knowledge at the bottom. Overall, their educational content reproduces new atheist discourses around these subjects, revealing the continuing influence of new atheism, two decades after its emergence. Furthermore, the popularity of videos that debunk arguments from religious apologists suggests that the intended audience of these videos includes both atheists, who are expected to need to learn to defend their atheism in debate with religious others, and “potential atheists”, religious believers who can be deconverted using rational arguments.

El artículo reflexiona sobre el recelo moderno respecto de Dios como amenaza para la libertad humana. La doctrina sobre la relación entre la libertad y la gracia sostenida por el teólogo español Luis ...de Molina presenta algunos rasgos que podrían estar emparentados con dicho recelo. La providencia divina resulta salvada en su sistema mediante una concepción algo determinista de la psique humana. Así, no se preserva del todo la libertad, pero, sin embargo, se introduce cierta sospecha respecto del poder de Dios. El autor propone empero una reflexión tomista como una alternativa para contemplar la relación entre Dios y hombre en armonía.
Satanism gained popularity, particularly following the establishment of The Satanic Temple, which held an annual Satan Conference (SatanCon) in the last decade. Satanism is not monolithic, there are ...at least two main currents, non-theistic satanism and theistic satanism. This article aims to explore Satanism and clarify their position in the field of Religious Studies. By using qualitative methods, this study found that Satanism cannot be viewed as a theology. However, as a movement, Satanism can be grouped into two categories. Atheistic Satanism belongs to the New Age, while religious Satanism (theistic) belongs to the New Religious Movement (NRM). The contribution of this discovery can enliven contemporary discussions in the field of Religious Studies, especially the issue of Satanism. Setanisme menjadi populer terutama setelah kemunculan The Satanic Temple yang dalam satu dekade terakhir rutin melakukan Satan Conference (SatanCon) setiap tahun. Setanisme tidak monolitik, setidaknya terdapat dua arus utama, non-theistic satanism dan theistic satanism. Artikel ini bertujuan mengungkap Theistic Satanism sebagai istilah teknis yang menyebabkan kerancuan. Beberapa kerancuan yang dimaksud, berada pada ranah konseptual dan praktis, keduanya akan didiskusikan dalam artikel ini. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi, penelitian ini dilakukan secara kualitatif. Kajian ini menemukan bahwa theistic satanism tidak dapat dipandang sebagai sebuah teologi. Meski demikian, sebagai sebuah gerakan, theistic satanism dapat dikelompokkan dalam New Age dan gerakan filosofis antroposentris. Kajian ini juga menawarkan konsep baru untuk menggantikan theistic satanism yang ambigu. Sumbangan penemuan ini dapat menyemarakkan diskusi kontemporer dalam bidang Religious Studies, terutama isu Setanisme. Keywords: Theology, Satanism, theistic satanism, NRM, New Age
