The aim of the study was the comparison of intellectually gifted secondary grammar school students with students from the average population of secondary grammar school students, in the level of ...overexcitability and prediction of intellectual giftedness through the various types of overexcitability. The research sample consisted of 88 secondary grammar school students aged 16-17 years. The target group, who were identified as intellectually gifted students, consisted of 44 students, whereas the control group consisted of 44 students from an average population of secondary grammar school students. We used tests of intellectual ability, Raven's Advanced Progressive Matrices Test, Intelligence Structure Analysis, and Urban's Figural Test of Creative Thinking to identify intellectually gifted secondary grammar school students. Types of overexcitability were assessed by means of the Overexcitability Questionnaire. Statistical analysis showed significant differences in the level of overexcitabilities between intellectually gifted secondary grammar school students and students from the average population of secondary grammar school students. Significant predictive power of intellectual and emotional overexcitability was found in relation to intellectual giftedness. Keywords: giftedness, intellectually gifted student, overexcitability, types of overexcitability Tatiana PETHÖ Fakultet menadzmenta, Sveuciliste u Presovu, Presov, Slovacka Cilj istrazivanja bio je usporediti intelektualno nadarene srednjoskolce i srednjoskolce koji postizu prosjecne uspjehe s obzirom na razinu pretjerane pobudljivosti (ekscitabilnosti) i predvidanje intelektualne darovitosti razlicitim vrstama pretjerane pobudljivosti. Rabili smo testove intelektualnih sposobnosti, Ravenov napredni matricni test (Raven's Advanced Progressive Matrices), Strukturnu analizu inteligencije (Intelligence Structure Analysis) te Urbanov figurativni test kreativnoga misljenja (Urban's Figural Test of Creative Thinking), kako bismo identificirali intelektualno nadarene srednjoskolce. Kljucne rijeci: darovitost, intelektualno nadaren ucenik, pretjerana pobudljivost, vrste pretjerane pobudljivosti
Introduction: Restorative dentistry has achieved remarkable developments in halting caries predominantly seen in pit and fissures. Flowable composite resin is predominantly used as pit-and-fissure ...sealants in recent years. The aim of our study was to compare the retentive properties of a flowable composite resin compared to a conventional sealant in 6-9 years school children over 18 months' period. Materials and Methods: The study was a randomized controlled trail and conducted over a period of 18 months. Forty participants were randomly selected for this study from the private school. Flowable composite resin was used to seal the mandibular 1st molars on one side and conventional resin sealant was used on the other side. Results: The differences in the retention status between the sealants after 12 and 18 months were found statistically significant with P = 0.02 and P = 0.03, respectively. When the retention status was compared within the materials at different intervals, it was found to be statistically significant (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Conventional resin-based sealants had better retention rate at 12 and 18 months' duration than the flowable composite resin.
The authors investigated the outdoor physical play of Norwegian first graders in after-school programs using a study that viewed play from the children's perspective. The authors identified three ...themes of the physically active play they observed--"playing with friends" "no one decides" and "I can do it" Their findings highlight the dynamic importance of such play, especially of child initiation in play and of playing with other children. The physical outdoor play fostered fun and playful interaction, leading both to improved communication and movement capabilities. The authors discuss their findings in relation to Scott Eberle's theoretical understanding of play, findings that indicate the complex conditions that support and extend children's play in after-school programs and the need to recognize them. Key words: after school programs; child's perspective; physically active play; outdoor play
