Dobro je poznato da su rasprave o dvorjaninu - prije svega one Baldassarea Castiglionea, Nicolasa Fareta, Baltasara Gracíana i Chevaliera de Méréa - napisane od ranog 16. stoljeća nadalje, ...informirale o životu viših društvenih klasa, aristokrata i nakon 18. stoljeća građanstva. Također je dobro poznato da su se kulturne odrednice dvorjanina očitovale u glazbi: u naglašavanju retoričkih i estetičkih ideja kao što su jednostavnost i glazbena neizrecivost, tzv. “je ne sçais quoi”. Pa ipak, muzikolozi su do sada zanemarivali činjenicu da su rasprave o dvorjaninu imale daleko “ozbiljniji” poriv od određivanja načina konverzacije i drugih aktivnosti u dokolici kao što su umjetnost, ples i glazba. Savjetujući pojedinca kako da se prikladno ponaša i djeluje u raznim društvenim situacijama, oni su definirali osobitu etiku ponašanja. Ova etika, koju nazivam feudalnom etikom jer je bila zamišljena u kontekstu priručnika za dvorjane, usredotočila se na političku opreznost i čisti pragmatizam - simulatio i dissimulatio - i bila je primarno temeljena na nesuglasju između izvanjske pojavnosti s jedne strane i unutarnjih stavova i vjerovanja s druge strane. Upravo u desetljećima oko 1700. godine feudalnu se etiku, koja je vladala Europom, polagano počelo zamjenjivati modernom građanskom etikom koju se može kategorizirati kao etiku vrline, a koju karakterizira, pozivajući se na Aristotela, koherentnost između vanjskih djela ili izgleda i unutarnjeg stava ili bîti.
Ovaj moralni transformacijski proces i njegov utjecaj na glazbu i glazbenu misao najjasnije se očituje u napisima Johanna Matthesona. S jedne strane, njegovi napisi o glazbi ističu se svojim izrazito moralističkim tonom koji glazbu i glazbeništvo povezuje s istinosnošću, iskrenošću i moralom, otkrivajući ga kao zagovornika etike vrline. S druge strane, Mattheson se u namjeri da opiše i procijeni glazbu koristi pojmovima - prije svega idejom “galantnog” - koji jasno pripadaju feudalno-etičkom području.
Dok je označavajuća shema termina “galantno” u 17. stoljeću jasno proizlazila iz dvorskih načina ponašanja - bila je prikladna za karakter koji je težio užitku i pomanjkanju osjećaja za odgovornost, te doživljavao uspjeh promicanjem duhovitosti, tj. tipa intelekta koji se nije previše brinuo za etička pitanja - Mattheson je usvojio re-eticizirani pojam termina “galantno”, u kojemu je (pokretana Thomasiusom, Barthom i tzv. moralnim tjednicima) postojala razlika između istinske i lažne galantnosti. U tim okvirima Mattheson je također primijenio na glazbu ideju etičke vrline o koherentnosti unutarnjeg i vanjskog. Zamijenivši etičku funkciju moralnog usavršavanja slušatelja, kako je to razvijala antika, idejom o inherentnoj etičkoj kvaliteti umjetničkog djela, Mattheson je anticipirao estetičke ideje kasnoga 18. stoljeća.
The book is thus a hybrid creature-part intensive valuation of theory, part heartfelt discussion of the author's own listening experiences, with case studies of songs by artists ranging from Moby and ...the Velvet Underground to Toru Takemitsu and Alarm Will Sound. ...occasionally theory works too hard to grasp something most people take for granted, namely that music is rooted in something more than just vibrations. ...Shank's reliance on theoretical explication points to the unavoidable avoidable disconnect between the experience rendered by the act of listening and the lived, street-level events that provoke conversation, protest, and political transformation.

Emmanuel Lévinas's most fundamental argument is that all of my experience is ethical because it most fundamentally involves encounters with others- to whom I am beholden and limitlessly subordinate, ...to whom I show concern and care in an asymmetrical relation of giftgiving, the alterity of whom I cannot absorb into myself-which displaces metaphysics as the foundation for philosophy and instead establishes ethics in that foundational role. During chapters 4 and 5, Warren considers improvisational experiences as sites of negotiation between freedom and constraint, between self and other (see especially pp. 117-20), and within the context of the festival, during which individuals negotiate contingencies through improvisation, engage in creative play, and negotiate individual differences in togetherness.
The actuality of the research proposed is the following one. At first, it tends to focus on the theoretical understanding of ethical and aesthetical norms (in broader terms – social norms), to reveal ...the patterns of their functionality. Secondly, it enables to define constituent principles, which were formed at the “axial time” of genesis of different civilizations. Thirdly, there appeared an opportunity for empirical analysis of their self-realization in everyday life, a contemporary one in particular. Fourthly, it provides a possibility to demonstrate how a civilization is unwrapped in history. It means how its values system is recorded not only in physical artifacts but also in non-material forms, what is not of less importance. The goal of the research presented is to expand the sphere of mythopoetics application in culture, which is considered as text. Such an approach has a heuristic and pragmatic perspective. It allows to “read” the text of culture, that means to decode its symbolic forms. There in the form of mythology, in a convolute form, the world is represented in a completely meaningful way. In practice it is represented in ideology. Politics uses the mythology of human consciousness to promote ideology, which, in this sense, works in everyday life as a social technology.

This experience was judged essential to the organization of the book by the author himself. The article begins with a discussion of the sense of ethical and aesthetic exigencies of the novelist. It endeavours to describe the organization of the novel, beginning with the combination of short stories which were originally autonomous works. Then it examines the episode "Baleia", where the problems of domestication and rearing are discussed. It finishes with the analysis of the tension between the talk of Utopia and critical realism.
