“The Shift of Sex” is a folktale type that begins with a young woman dressing in men’s clothes to have an adventure, and ends when the protagonist is magically transformed into a man, marries a ...woman, and lives happily ever after. My goal in this project is to analyze the 26 variants as a group in order to illuminate what they communicate about gender and transgender. ATU 514 has been treated as an aberration or anomaly, a tale that defies categorization. Several feminist scholars have argued that the climactic change of gender reinforces heteronormativity and sexist, patriarchal gender roles. More recent scholarship notes the tale’s transgender possibility, scholarship I build on in this project. My analysis identified two significant patterns in the tales: first, every variant has a happy ending for the protagonist, representing a narrative reward for a character who could variously be read as transgender or gender transgressive. Second, the tales are encoded with details, characters, and events that tell a “secondary narrative” that describes the threat of the patriarchy. I argue that the protagonist of ATU 514 is a transgressive character with transgender capacity and that the tale approves and rewards these transgressions through the concluding happily-ever-after.

Mithilfe der poetologischen Diskriminierung des Wunderbaren gelingt es der Gattung Roman, sich als kulturelles Leitmedium der anbrechenden Moderne zu konstituieren. Gleichzeitig lässt sich ...beobachten, dass in Romane immer wieder wunderbare Erzählungen eingeschaltet werden. Wie ist diese spannungsvolle Konstellation einander gegenüberstehender erzählerischer Normen zu verstehen? „Thauma(u)topoiesis“ rekonstruiert eine literatur- und geistesgeschichtliche Verschiebung im Problemfeld des Wunderbaren von der ontologischen Skepsis der Aufklärung gegenüber dem Wunder zu ästhetischen, poetologischen und ethischen Dimensionen einer poietischen Verwunderung. Vor diesem Hintergrund lässt sich verdeutlichen, wie sich die Diegese des aufgeklärten Romans durch das Inserat thaumaturgischer Erzählungen auf eine Hermeneutik der Selbst-Auslegung hin öffnet.
n this research, were analysed the visual representations made by high school students as a result of reading a cult fairy tale and creating a project entitled “Harap-Alb’s journey seen through the ...eyes of children” in the 10 th grade geography lessons. The projects were carried out by 26 students, who worked in pairs. The geography teacher presented them on the Google Classroom platform the structure of the project (visual and written components), tasks (forming groups, reading fairy tales, making mind maps), instructions and requirements. The aim of this activity was to identify and illustrate ways in which certain cognitive barriers can be removed and through which dynamic and creative thinking can be acquired / encouraged.
The case study is a part of the research and art‐based developmental project Rinnalla (Side by Side) – Mentors of Arts‐ and Narrative‐based Approaches as a Support for Social‐Emotional Learning and ...Growth in Early Childhood Education, where arts and narrative‐based methods were used to support children’s social‐emotional growth in early childhood education. This research focuses on six‐year‐old children’s experiences of a fairy tale and music based on H.C. Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling. The research questions are: (1) How do children express the emotions they experience while listening to a fairy tale and music? (2) How do the children express and build their peer relationships through communication while drawing? The intervention was implemented in a preschool group of 15 children. The data included around 120 minutes of recorded video and 30 drawings. The holistic and context‐sensitive interpretation method of visual analysis was used to analyse the data. The interpretation demonstrated the importance of peer relationships and offered insight into the context significance. By drawing together and telling small stories in a shared time and place, the children negotiated their roles within the small group. They strengthened friendships and built peer relations. The drawing situation probably exposed pre‐existing tensions between the children, and the children showed interest, support, care, and willingness to welcome others. The music and fairy tale experiences allowed children to process emotions and share their current daily lives.

В статье показано, как происходит комбинирование и взаимодействие идиллических и сказочных мотивов. ...Для немецкой культуры исследуемый образ является выражением «немецкости» и получает положительные оценки. Образы хранителей очага связаны с эпохой бидермайера, которая реабилитировала право быть обычным, невыдающимся человеком. Идиллические мотивы играют важную роль в образах хранителей очага, так как они являются мерилом достойного образа жизни и всего того, что считается правильным и общепринятым. Однако эти образы могут быть недостаточно выразительными и трафаретными из-за своего образцового статуса.
