The globalization of the world’s religions leads to a variety of fusions whereby local elements blend with global religions, leading to hybrid local-global or glocal religious forms. Glocal forms of ...religion provide a hitherto insufficiently explored research agenda with the potential of further growth in the future. This volume introduces the basic tenets of this research agenda and offers examples from around the globe. In the volume’s individual chapters, authors explore a diverse tapestry of such forms that cover cases from the Caribbean, Japan, Finland, Eastern Europe, US, Korea, Southeast Asia and Central America. Glocal forms of religious expression exist across diverse religious traditions. In this volume, religious traditions specifically explored include Buddhism, Hinduism, folk or traditional religions, Eastern Orthodox Christianity & Protestantism. The study of glocal religions involves a trans-disciplinary group of scholars and researchers. In this volume, contributions come from the fields of sociology, archaeology, anthropology, history and religious studies. This collection is an indispensable reader for scholars and students who wish to explore the dynamics of glocal religion in their part of the world.
The diversity of tribes and nations is a necessity of creation, because God Almighty sent his people to learn to live in harmony. The diversity of world culture is shown through the educational ...process so that it is able to meet the needs of students who do not eliminate local cultural values which is called glocalization. The importance of glocalization is to observe the rise of internal and external intolerance in the name of religion on a local and global scale which has caused divisions from various parties. This research is to find out the criteria and objectives of glocalization of international early childhood Islamic education. This paper aims to explain glocalization in the world of International Early Childhood Islamic Education. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Determination of the source sample by purposive sampling with certain criteria that meet the data needs. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model with data collection, data reduction, data presentation as well as conclusion and verification. These findings indicate that the criteria for glocalization of international Islamic education at the Islamic International School PSM Magetan Indonesia are bi'ah Islamiyah, the language of instruction is English, using international branding. The goal of glocalization of international standard PAUD at the Islamic International School PSM Magetan is to improve spiritual, emotional, intellectual, foster an international spirit without eliminating the spirit of nationalism.
Within the bosom of the humanities philosophy reposes and, as an academic field, it is ever so often criticized for its aloofness. In a recent book, Roudometof and Dessi (2022, 9-10) politely quip ...that philosophy’s engagement with the “glocal” has been “resilient,” transacted mostly “without encroaching on other fields.” Philosophy’s ostensible remoteness stems in part from its institutional affiliation with, cultivation and deployment of often forbiddingly technical tools of logical analysis. Although the academic field comprises a manifold of specialities, with resentment often arising against prohibitively technical branches, I narrow my focus to an understanding of “philosophy” as an activity engrossed in logical analysis, and I will plead as defence of this avowed postulation that by so doing, operationally as it were, I can argue that philosophy can make critical and salutary contributions to the burgeoning field of glocalization studies, which is so ably canvassed in the book edited by Roudometof and Dessi. Notwithstanding the promissory note offered above, and since my definition of philosophy may seem unduly restrictive, it is incumbent on me to disambiguate across related notions and to make an initial case as to both the plausibility and arguable pay-offs from taking philosophy in the way I just adumbrated. This is a substantive issue as it relates to a case I will be making as to what philosophy may have to offer to the study of glocalization.

“Glocalism: Journal of Culture, Politics and Innovation” is a peer-reviewed, open access and cross-disciplinary journal that aims at stimulating increasing awareness and knowledge around the new ...dynamics that characterize glocal reality. A journal on glocalism, which corresponds with the very concept of being glocal and is recognized in a global-academic context, can only be available online. After ten years of life, though, the editors have decided to select, collect and publish on paper some articles that are more representative than others, in order to summarize and show the richness and depth which distinguished the activity of “Glocalism” so far and which will mark its future issues online at https://riviste.unimi.it/index.php/glocalism
Our examination of publicly listed firms in China (2010–2018) reveals that a firm promotes more women to its board when it faces either stronger global pressure, as measured by the ownership of ...global institutional investors, or stronger local pressure, as measured by the domestic industry average of female board representation. Local pressure has a stronger impact than global pressure, and the two substitute each other. More importantly, stronger global pressure is associated with the promotion of more returnee women but not of domestic women, while stronger local pressure is associated with the promotion of more domestic women but not of returnee women. The findings advance the literature by revealing that the adoption of female board representation in China is driven by the co-constitutive influences of “the global” and “the local”, and that different types of potential beneficiaries receive heterogeneous benefits in this glocalization process.
During the last decades, North America as well as Europe have experienced a significant boom of craft breweries. While it has been understood mainly as a result of neolocalism, we argue that this ...view is overly unilateral and depending on spatial context. Other factors like glocalization may potentially also affect the emergence of craft breweries. This paper examined the factors influencing the expansion of craft breweries in seven regions of Czechia and Poland, two Central European countries that share similar history but differ in their brewing traditions. Based on semi-structured interviews with representatives of 59 breweries, we identified important similarities but also fundamental differences. Many breweries have indeed been significantly influenced by neolocalism, while some did not capitalize on it, and others even directly rejected it. The role of spatial context has also manifested, particularly through the increased importance of glocalization in several regions.
The globalization of Chinese medicine, forged through successive waves of migration, cultural exchanges, and economic imperatives, constitutes a nuanced and intricate process with historical roots ...extending over millennia. It stands as the culmination of interconnected historical events that reverberated beyond the confines of China, emerging as a phenomenon characterized by the adjustment of Chinese medical theories, clinical practices, and materia medica to indigenous customs and healthcare traditions prevalent in both proximate and distant regions. In these

processes, the global and the local intersect and mix. The frameworks of globalization and

allow a critical interpretation of the many hybridizations that have shaped overseas Chinese medicine’s history and present.
