The allocation of executives’ environmental attention (EEA) is of great significance in promoting the green upgrading of industrial structures and achieving corporate green transformation. Based on ...upper echelon theory and the attention-based view, we use panel data of Chinese manufacturing companies from 2015 to 2020 to construct a two-way fixed effects model to explore the impact mechanism of EEA on corporate green transformation performance (CGTP). Baseline regression shows that EEA significantly improves CGTP. The reliability of findings is verified by reducing time windows, replacing the independent variable, expanding the data source, and adding missing variables. In the heterogeneity analysis, the positive effect of EEA on CGTP is significant for eastern companies and does not differ in the property rights grouping. After propensity score matching, environmental attribute grouping shows that the positive effect of EEA on CGTP is more significant for non-heavy polluters. Extended research shows that government subsidies have a positive moderating effect, while female executives play only a symbolic role. Moreover, green innovation activities have positive partial mediating effects. Green innovation is the best way to address environmental pollution and achieve corporate green transformation. Our research provides implications for decision-makers to allocate their attention, and thereby achieve green development appropriately.
Using survey data from 1438 Peruvian manufacturing firms, we explore multiple and simultaneous relationships between the effects of innovation activities, employee level of education, and the firm ...size on manufacturing firms' innovation outcomes. We find that there is a positive relationship between innovation activities, employee level of education, and firm size. In addition, innovation activities have direct and positive effects on product and service innovation. However, employee level of education has positive indirect effects, especially on product innovation. The study also highlights that there is a negative direct relationship between size and service innovation. Thus, it is important to establish public policies aimed to promote service innovation in manufacturing firms, with specific support for small firms.
This study examines the various factors that drive firms’ innovations in Visegrad countries. For the empirical analysis, we used data from the Eurostat Community Innovation Survey 2012–2014 and the ...probit regression model. The probit regression analysis finds that the main drivers of innovations in these countries are competing in foreign markets, engaging in innovation activities such as R&D and in-house training activities. We find that engaging in R&D was probable to improve product innovations by 48%, process and organizational innovations by 27% and market innovations by 22%. The study also finds that public subsidies for innovations from local, central and EU sources significantly influenced firm-level innovations. Lastly, innovations in these countries were also significantly and positively stimulated by certain firm characteristics such as size and ownerships. In this respect, policy makers and industry management should consider increasing their investments for research and development and its related activities inter alia to improve innovation performance.
Factors Associated with The Abandonment of Innovation Activities in A Developing Country: The Influence of The Level of Regional Technological Cooperation Using data from the Ecuadorean Innovation ...Survey of 2015, this paper examines the factors associated with the abandonment of innovation activities of firms in a developing country. Additionally, it is analyzed whether the influence of these factors differs depending on the level of technological cooperation existing in the regions in which the firms operate. The results indicate that the probability of abandonment is greater in firms that invest in complex innovation activities, in those that cooperate simultaneously with other firms and research institutions and in those with greater export intensity. In addition, it is observed that medium-sized firms are those that show a lower probability of abandonment. Finally, the results indicate that the influence of these factors differs considerably depending on the level of regional technological cooperation.
This study investigates the positive effects of an appropriability regime and perceived similarity to green co-innovation performance when considering green open innovation activities as the ...mediator. It proposes a novel construct, i.e., green open innovation activities, and employs structural equation modeling to test its hypotheses. 190 valid questionnaires were collected from executives in Taiwanese manufacturing companies. Manufacturing activities are regarded as a major source of pollution. Consequently, given the broad concern for the environment among governments and consumers, adopting green practices has become critical for manufacturing companies. All the proposed hypotheses were supported by the analysis results. An appropriability regime is positively associated with green open innovation activities and green co-innovation performance. Perceived similarity is positively associated with green open innovation activities and green co-innovation performance. Moreover, green open innovation activities are positively associated with green co-innovation performance. A major finding is that if a company introduces one, the longer the duration of a green project is, the stronger the green open innovation activities and green co-innovation performance are. This study aimed to determine the simultaneous effects of both factors, i.e., appropriability regime, and perceived similarity on green open innovation activities and green co-innovation performance. The contribution of this study highlights the simultaneous importance of appropriability regimes and perceived similarity to determine a company's green practices. While companies have tended to increase their green co-innovation performance, they need to improve their appropriability regime, perceived similarity, and green open innovation activities.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the decisive influence of academic capitalism on the formation of innovation policy in higher education and science, contributing to the creation of an innovative environment for transformational change in this sphere. The methodology of the research is based on an objective standardized approach to the analysis of factual data on the development and implementation of innovation policy in higher education systems and leading universities of the world, the latest published results of experiments, materials of scientific literature on innovation policy and innovation management. Research results. The main directions of innovation policy of entrepreneurial university and innovation relations in the sphere of higher education and science are investigated. It is shown that innovative transformations in the sphere of higher education and science, as a rule, take place within the framework of the innovative policy determined by the leaders of this sphere. It is noted that innovation policy in higher education is a link between the policy of research and scientific (scientific and technical) activities, search and dissemination of knowledge, education and training of qualified specialists in the field of technological development, industrial policy and environmental policy. The authors studied the following: the types of activities promoted by innovation in higher education and innovative environment of this activity; the main directions and main components of innovative policy of entrepreneurial university; innovative relations in higher education and science; innovative environment; the importance of having the necessary competencies, their formation and development; internal and external sources of competencies for universities, etc. Practical implications. The authors suggest that innovation policy in higher education is a link between the policy of research and scientific (scientific and technical) activities; search and dissemination of knowledge; education and training of qualified specialists – on the one hand, and technological development; industrial policy and environmental policy – on the other. This can be used in the creation of the theory and practice of innovation policy development in higher education. The article as a whole is devoted to the further development of the theoretical foundations of higher education innovatics.
In the current competitive context, innovation has become a necessity, to the point that it seems that no company can survive without developing innovation processes. One of the great concerns of ...small and medium-sized companies is about the investment of resources in innovation activities and their success. Therefore, this article analyzes the influence of different innovation activities performed by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of the Colombian Caribbean region on their product innovation outcomes and thereby provides a solid groundwork for the design of innovation strategies. To achieve this objective, a data collection instrument was first validated in 56 SMEs, followed by the application of a reflective measurement model with convergent validity analysis. The results of the model application revealed that investment in Research and Development (R&D) and innovation, knowledge transfer, technology adoption, and financial aspects explain to a greater extent the introduction of new products to the market.
