In this work, the adduct of maleic anhydride and methyl eleostearate (MAME) and dimer fatty acid (DFA) were converted to the sodium and zinc salts (L-Zn-MAME, L-Na-MAME, L-Zn-DFA, and L-Na-DFA), respectively, which were subsequently turned into Na/Zn composite liquid stabilizers(LTS-Na/Zn-MAME and LTS-Na/Zn-DFA) by formula combination. Na salts, Zn salts and mixed Na/Zn salts from these fatty acid salts were used as thermal stabilizers for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). The chemical structures of MAME, DFA, and their liquid zinc and sodium salts were verified using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. Thermal stability and mechanical properties of the sodium and zinc salts, and their Na/Zn composite liquid stabilizers derived from MAME and DFA for PVC were investigated using discoloration and dynamic mechanical analyses, TGA-FTIR-MS, thermal decomposition kinetics, and Congo red and tensile tests. Thermal stability of pure PVC is poor, but membrane thermal stability can be improved by integrating thermal stabilizers. Results show that L-Na-MAME has an outstanding synergistic effect with the commercial general calcium/zinc stearate composite heat stabilizer(CaSt2/ZnSt2). CaSt2/ZnSt2/LTS-Na-MAME, LTS-Na/Zn-MAME and CaSt2/LTS-Zn-DFA/LTS-Na-DFA also have a better heat-stabilizing impact on PVC than CaSt2/ZnSt2, especially LTS-Na/Zn-MAME can more effectively enhance the primary coloring of PVC. In comparison to blank PVC and PVC/CaSt2/ZnSt2, both PVC/LTS-Na/Zn-MAME and PVC/LTS-Na/Zn-DFA display a larger elongation at break and acceptable tensile strength. The new stabilizers can largely enhance the heat stability of PVC resins, endowing PVC products with good plasticization performance, and can fully or partially replace the general calcium zinc stearate composite heat stabilizer and other heat stabilization products.

Rad istražuje problematiku rodnih uloga u patrijarhalnom društvu u drami Dugo putovanje u noć (1956.) Eugenea O’Neilla i drami Sjećam se mame (1944.) Johna Van Drutena, s obzirom na prikaz lika ...majke. Eugene O’Neill donosi priču o disfunkcionalnoj obitelji Tyrone, dok John Van Druten prikazuje blisku obitelj norveških imigranata Hansona. Iako naizgled drugačije, dvije su obitelji slične po patrijarhalnom ustroju, što se odražava na likove majki koje se prilagođavaju tradicionalnim rodnim ulogama. Van Drutenova protagonistica Marta Hanson nesebična je i brižna majka zaslužna za sreću svoje obitelji, za razliku od Mary Tyrone koja je ovisna o morfiju i okrivljena za propast vlastite obitelji. Unatoč očiglednim razlikama između protagonistica, obje su procjenjivane na temelju istih kriterija – njihovog odnosa prema suprugu, djeci, te naposljetku novcu i karijeri. U radu se primjenjuje rodna teorija Simone de Beauvoir na temelju koje se proučava ponašanje protagonistica u tri situacije – bračnom životu, majčinstvu i poslovnom svijetu. Rad dolazi do zaključka da iako su Mary i Marta procjenjivane na temelju istih kriterija, razlikuju se u tome da Marta uspješno ispunjava očekivane uloge, dok Mary to ne uspijeva. Stoga majke u navedenim dramama čine binarne opreke – majka u Van Drutenovoj drami prikazana je kao svetica hvaljena za podnesene žrtve, dok je majka u O’Neillovoj drami prikana kao grešnica čiji propusti vode do obiteljske propasti.
The paper explores gender roles within the patriarchal society in Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night (1956) and John Van Druten’s I Remember Mama (1944), with respect to the portrayal of the mother. O’Neill’s play follows the story of the dysfunctional Tyrone family, while Van Druten depicts a close-knit family of Norwegian immigrants, the Hansons. Although seemingly different, both families are patriarchal, which is reflected in the characters of the mothers who conform to traditional gender roles. Van Druten’s protagonist Marta Hanson is a selfless and caring mother responsible for the happiness of her family, unlike Mary Tyrone, who is addicted to morphine and consequently blamed for the downfall of her family. Despite the obvious differences between the protagonists, both are judged on the basis of the same criteria – their relationship with their husbands, children, and ultimately money and career. The paper applies Simone de Beauvoir’s gender theory in order to study the protagonists’ behaviour in three situations – marriage, motherhood, and the business world. The paper concludes that although Mary and Marta are evaluated based on the same criteria, they differ in that Marta successfully fulfils the expected roles, while Mary fails to do so. Thus, the mothers in these plays represent binary oppositions – the mother in Van Druten’s play is depicted as a saint praised for the sacrifices she makes, while the mother in O’Neill’s play is portrayed as a sinner whose failures lead to family ruin.
Background
Breast malignant adenomyoepithelioma (MAME) after breast augmentation has never been reported.
Case summary
We reported a case of a 55-year-old woman who was diagnosed with breast MAME 16 ...years after breast augmentation. Breast augmentation was performed on the patient with two 200 ml round textured prostheses in the subpectoral plane through axillary incisions in 2004. However, a breast ultrasound in 2020 revealed a suspicious malignant lump in the right breast, which was finally confirmed as MAME by pathology. Skin-sparing modified radical mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction with expander implantation were performed. Subsequently, the patient received three cycles of chemotherapy with the regimen of anthracycline and cyclophosphamide. In the following nearly 2 years of follow-up, no tumor recurrence and metastasis were found, and the overall treatment was satisfactory for the patient.
Conclusion
Here, we present a unique case in which a patient was diagnosed with breast MAME after breast augmentation. Skin-sparing modified radical mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction with expander implantation are feasible approaches that yield at least short-term oncological safety and acceptable aesthetic results. However, whether there is a potential relationship between MAME and breast implants remains to be further explored. Meanwhile, due to the rarity of breast MAME, more authoritative strategies considering both oncological safety and aesthetics to seek better long-term therapeutic effects are needed.
Magnetotactic bacteria are aquatic organisms that produce subcellular magnetic particles in order to orient in the earth's geomagnetic field. MamE, a predicted HtrA protease required to produce ...magnetite crystals in the magnetotactic bacterium Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1, was recently shown to promote the proteolytic processing of itself and two other biomineralization factors in vivo. Here, we have analyzed the in vivo processing patterns of three proteolytic targets and used this information to reconstitute proteolysis with a purified form of MamE. MamE cleaves a custom peptide substrate with positive cooperativity, and its autoproteolysis can be stimulated with exogenous substrates or peptides that bind to either of its PDZ domains. A misregulated form of the protease that circumvents specific genetic requirements for proteolysis causes biomineralization defects, showing that proper regulation of its activity is required during magnetite biosynthesis in vivo. Our results represent the first reconstitution of the proteolytic activity of MamE and show that its behavior is consistent with the previously proposed checkpoint model for biomineralization.
Sarcina la vârsta adolescenţei reprezintă o situaţie specială mai ales în rândul adolescentelor care nu beneficiază de susţinere familială, fiind expuse riscului de a nu primi îngrijiri prenatale ...corespunzătoare, cu complicaţii pe durata sarcinii şi în timpul naşterii atât pentru mamă, cât mai ales pentru nou-născut. Obiectiv. Scopul lucrării de faţă este de a prezenta patologia şicomplicaţiile asociate nou-născuţilor proveniţi din mame adolescente. Material şi metodă. Studiu retrospectiv cuprizând pacienţii internaţi în perioada ianuarie 2013-decembrie 2014, criteriul de includere în studiu fiind vârsta mamei de maximum 17 ani. Rezultate. 66,67% dintre nou-născuţii din studiu au fost prematuri şi 33,33% au fost nou-născuţi la termen. Complicaţiile postpartum au fost mai frecvente şi mai severe în grupul prematurilor comparativ cu nou-născuţii la termen. Corelarea datelor obţinute despre patologia, vârsta de gestaţie şi greutatea la naştere a cazurilor cu vârsta biologică a mamei relevă că mamele cu vârsta de 13-15 ani au născut predominant prematuri comparativ cu cele cu vârsta de 16 şi 17 ani. Mamele prematurilor cu greutate la naştere extrem de mică şi foarte mică au vârsta cuprinsă între 13-15 ani. Concluzii. Sarcina la adolescenţă se asociază cel mai frecvent cu naşterea de copii prematuri. Cu cât vârsta biologică a mamei este mai mică, cu atât riscul de a naşte un prematur este mai mare, complicaţiile asociate fiind mai severe cu cât vârsta de gestaţie şi greutatea la naştere ale prematurului sunt mai mici.

gene. This disease occurs in the Shiba Inu breed, which is one of the most popular traditional breeds in Japan, due to the
:c.1649delC (p.P550Rfs*50) mutation. Previous surveys performed of the Shiba Inu population in Japan found a carrier rate of 1.02-2.94%. Currently, a miniature type of the Shiba Inu called "Mame Shiba", bred via artificial selection to yield smaller individuals, is becoming more popular than the standard Shiba Inu and it is now one of the most popular breeds in Japan and China. The GM1 gangliosidosis mutation has yet to be surveyed in the Mame Shiba population. This study aimed to determine the frequency of the mutant allele and carrier rate of GM1 gangliosidosis in the Mame Shiba breed. Blood samples were collected from 1832 clinically healthy adult Mame Shiba Inus used for breeding across 143 Japanese kennels. The genotyping was performed using a real-time PCR assay. The survey found nine carriers among the Mame Shibas, indicating that the carrier rate and mutant allele frequency were 0.49% and 0.00246, respectively. This study demonstrated that the mutant allele has already been inherited by the Mame Shiba population. There is a risk of GM1 gangliosidosis occurrence in the Mame Shiba breed if breeders use carriers for mating. Further genotyping surveys are necessary for breeding Mame Shibas to prevent the inheritance of this disease.
As a surgical procedure which could significantly lower the recurrence rate of cancers, total mesorectal excision (TME) has been the gold standard for middle and lower rectal cancer treatment. ...However, previous studies have shown that the procedure did not achieve the ideal theoretical local recurrence rates of rectal cancers. Some researchers pointed out it was very likely that not all so-called TME treatments completely removed the mesorectum, implying that some of these TME surgical treatments failed to meet oncological quality standards. Therefore, a suitable assessment tool for the surgical quality of TME is necessary. The notion of “macroscopic assessment of mesorectal excision (MAME)” was put forward by some researchers as a better assessment tool for the surgical quality of TME and has been confirmed by a series of studies. Besides providing rapid and accurate surgical quality feedbacks for surgeons, MAME also effectively assesses the prognosis of patients with rectal cancer. However, as a new assessment tool used for TME surgical quality, MAME has an only limited influence on the current guidelines and is yet to be widely applied in most countries. The aims of this review are to provide a detailed introduction to MAME for clinical practice and to summarize the current prognostic significance of MAME.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a minimally invasive, FDA-approved therapy for treatment of endobronchial and esophageal cancers that are accessible to light. Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) is an ...aggressive and highly metastatic form of breast cancer that spreads to dermal lymphatics, a site that would be accessible to light. IBC patients have a relatively poor survival rate due to lack of targeted therapies. The use of PDT is underexplored for breast cancers but has been proposed for treatment of subtypes for which a targeted therapy is unavailable. We optimized and used a 3D mammary architecture and microenvironment engineering (MAME) model of IBC to examine the effects of PDT using two treatment protocols. The first protocol used benzoporphyrin derivative monoacid A (BPD) activated at doses ranging from 45 to 540 mJ/cm
2
. The second PDT protocol used two photosensitizers: mono-
l
-aspartyl chlorin e6 (NPe6) and BPD that were sequentially activated. Photokilling by PDT was assessed by live–dead assays. Using a MAME model of IBC, we have shown a significant dose–response in photokilling by BPD–PDT. Sequential activation of NPe6 followed by BPD is more effective in photokilling of tumor cells than BPD alone. Sequential activation at light doses of 45 mJ/cm
2
for each agent resulted in >90 % cell death, a response only achieved by BPD–PDT at a dose of 360 mJ/cm
2
. Our data also show that effects of PDT on a volumetric measurement of 3D MAME structures reflect efficacy of PDT treatment. Our study is the first to demonstrate the potential of PDT for treating IBC.
