Ecosystem services (ESS) change and its response to human activities is critical for enhancing ecosystem management and regional sustainability. This study constructs a theoretical framework of ...coupled ESS and three modernization (agricultural modernization (AM), industrialization and urbanization) systems, depicts the dynamic changes of ESS and three modernizations in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) from 2000 to 2018, and further analyses the heterogeneity in the response of multiple ESS to different human activities using the Pearson correlation method and bivariate spatial autocorrelation model. (1) AM showed a significant negative impact on ESS and other single ESS except for food production and waste treatment services, and there was also an increasingly significant negative correlation between them in space, indicating that AM did not coordinate the local ecological protection and exerted the strongest destruction and an expanding scope of spatially negative effects on ESS. (2) Industrialization was negatively correlated with ESS as well as all of their associated single ESS to a different extent and was only significantly correlated with regulation services, while it interacted spatially with ESS, changing from presenting a weak negative correlation to presenting a weak positive correlation during 2000–2018, which reveals that industrialization had relatively less pressure on ESS and developed in a more eco-friendly mode. (3) Urbanization exerted a weak negative influence on ESS and most single ESS, whereas urbanization was positively correlated with waste treatment, landscape culture provision and biodiversity maintenance services in 2018, and it showed a significant positive impact of a growing tendency to effect ESS in space, which reveals that urbanization was conducive to reducing the overall disturbance of human activities on ESS. (4) The heterogeneity characteristics of the local spatial correlation patterns between the three modernization levels and ESS as well as their changes during 2000–2018 were investigated and presented obvious differences, and the low-high/high-low areas of the levels and changes for these two constructs should be given enough attention and take corresponding adaptive management measures. This study indicates that there are remarkable heterogeneous effects of different intensities and types of human activities on ESS, which should be understood systematically to coordinate the development pathways and patterns of three modernizations and the restoration and sustainable utilization of ecosystems.
•Three modernizations negatively correlated with ESS, while the negative correlation between AM and ESS was significant.•In space, AM expanded the negative influence, industrialization and urbanization increasingly positively impact ESS.•The heterogeneity characteristics of the local spatial correlation between three modernizations and ESS were found.•Different ESS effects driven by various human activities should be integrated into ecological management.
In this review, the global contribution of tradition Chinese medicine will be debriefed. The underlying obstacles and limitations for TCM development and modernization will be summarized and analyzed ...accordingly. Statistics data and corresponding reasons will be presented to illustrate the very laborious progression of TCM globalization. Several innovative strategies and advanced technologies will be advised in the review in the hope of fully facilitating and accelerating TCM's expansion into the global markets.
TCM-derived drugs have contributed significantly to the healthcare system of China, and have the potential to serve the global patients. However, the lack of in-depth and precise understanding and evaluation of disease pathogenesis makes it very difficult to accurately elucidate the mechanism of action of Chinese medicine at the molecular cellular level. Despite the known challenges and uncertainties, the progress of globalization of TCM is on the right track. Display omitted

Abstract
The article presents the problem of the variety of machines used in the implementation of basic tillage, a brief analysis of technologies and mechanized means and the development of a ...modernized design of a universal tillage unit. In the developed unit, the combination of chiseling methods, including deep one with drainage, with methods of smooth plowing and disking was carried out. The novelty of the unit is that the frame of the fixed section of the plow is made in the form of a square, in which a channel-shaped guide ring is inserted with a mounted frame of the movable section, made removable and interchangeable with a longer one and with an increase in the number of working bodies depending on the width of the grip. Racks, which are equipped with bearing units, and additional levers, rods and lanyards placed diametrically opposed. The frames of the movable and fixed sections are equipped with holes for fixing with locking fingers in the longitudinal position and in the transverse position.
Assortative mating fundamentally shapes the characteristics of families and the reproduction of populations. It organizes people into families and determines the characteristics of parents. In this ...article, I review the literature on the causes and consequences of trends and variation in assortative mating. Explanations for why assortative mating varies have been dominated by modernization theory, but perspectives emphasizing economic inequality and gender inequality have gained momentum in recent years. Underexplored is how changes in the structure of search have affected mate selection. The idea that assortative mating affects inequality and population composition is one of the primary motivations for its study but, until recently, has rarely been tested empirically. I review the literature on the consequences of assortative mating for (a) inequality within generations, (b) inequality between generations, (c) long-run population change, and (d) relationship quality and dissolution. I conclude with suggestions for future research.
Industry 4.0 is having an increasingly positive impact on the value chain by modernizing and optimizing the production and distribution processes. In this streamline, the digital twin (DT) is one of ...the most cutting-edge technologies of Industry 4.0, providing simulation capabilities to forecast, optimize and estimate states and configurations. In turn, these technological capabilities are encouraging industrial stakeholders to invest in the new paradigm, though an increased focus on the risks involved is really needed. More precisely, the deployment of a DT is based on the composition of technologies such as cyber-physical systems, the Industrial Internet of Things, edge computing, virtualization infrastructures, artificial intelligence and big data. However, the confluence of all these technologies and the implicit interaction with the physical counterpart of the DT in the real world generate multiple security threats that have not yet been sufficiently studied. In that context, this paper analyzes the current state of the DT paradigm and classifies the potential threats associated with it, taking into consideration its functionality layers and the operational requirements in order to achieve a more complete and useful classification. We also provide a preliminary set of security recommendations and approaches that can help to ensure the appropriate and trustworthy use of a DT.
Abstract
In the context of “3060 Carbon Neutrality”, there will be both theoretical and practical significance to finding out the status quo, laws and key factors about efficiency of carbon ...neutrality in various regions of China. This paper considers carbon neutrality system as a black-box combining “carbon absorption” with “carbon fixation”. According to these two major functions, we aim to measure efficiency of carbon neutrality among 30 provinces in China by constructing the three-stage DEA model. The results point that there exists obvious regional differentiation of efficiency distribution patterns; Key factors that determine the level of carbon neutralization efficiency mainly include spatial effects, industrial modernization, technological and innovative levels, and natural resources, etc. In summary, this paper provides suggestions and counter measures to promote carbon neutralization efficiency within various regions from two perspectives of regional low-carbon economy and regional linkage development.
Camping is the USA’s fifth most popular outdoor activity. Employing an historical-geographic methodology, this article connects shifting settlement patterns to socio-technological changes and to ...geographic imaginaries. In particular, three trends shaped camping’s development. First, campers lived in an urban world undergoing modernization so they chose to retreat into nature as a counteractant. Second, camping was pilgrimage, taking campers into a transformative place where they could “rough it.” Finally, antimodern camping was ironically subject to technological modernization. Camping gear steadily became lighter, more specialized and more easily transported. Motorized forms of camping are in decline today, but backpacking’s appeal remains strong.
