The importance of fluoride (F) for oral health is well established in the literature. However, evidence suggests that excessive exposure to this mineral is associated with adverse effects at ...different life stages and may affect many biological systems, especially mineralized tissues. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of F exposure during pregnancy and breastfeeding on the alveolar bone of the offspring since the alveolar bone is one of the supporting components of the dental elements. For this, the progeny rats were divided into three groups: control, 10 mg F/L, and 50 mg F/L for 42 (gestational and lactation periods). Analysis of the quantification of F levels in the alveolar bone by particle-induced gamma emission; Raman spectroscopy to investigate the physicochemical aspects and mineral components; computed microtomography to evaluate the alveolar bone microstructure and analyses were performed to evaluate osteocyte density and collagen quantification using polarized light microscopy. The results showed an increase in F levels in the alveolar bone, promoted changes in the chemical components in the bone of the 50 mg F/L animals (p < 0.001), and had repercussions on the microstructure of the alveolar bone, evidenced in the 10 mg F/L and 50 mg F/L groups (p < 0.001). Furthermore, F was able to modulate the content of organic bone matrix, mainly collagen; thus, this damage possibly reduced the amount of bone tissue and consequently increased the root exposure area of the exposed groups in comparison to a control group (p < 0.001). Our findings reveal that Fcan modulate the physicochemical and microstructural dimensions and reduction of alveolar bone height, increasing the exposed root region of the offspring during the prenatal and postnatal period. These findings suggest that F can modulate alveolar bone mechanical strength and force dissipation functionality.

Methods
This cross-sectional study was conducted at a tertiary hospital, New ...Delhi which included infants aged 3½ mo (+1 wk) who were either offsprings of women with gestational diabetes (cases) or infants of mothers without gestational diabetes mellitus presenting to tertiary care public hospital in India from January, 2018 through March, 2019, with enrollment of infants done between 10 April, 2018 and 30 March, 2019.
Results

Conclusions
The mean motor, mental total DQ of offsprings of mothers with GDM were significantly lower than those born to mothers without GDM. Hence follow up, early intervention should be considered for this high risk group.

In this paper we use the Delaunay triangulation and present a general method to detect parent locations. The performance of the method is evaluated by applying the method to various simulations of a well-known case of the Neyman-Scott cluster process, the Thomas process. Furthermore, the method is used to find parent locations in tropical rain forest data sets.
Maternal obesity is associated with adverse effects on the health of offsprings. Consumption of a high-carbohydrate (HC) diet has been found to promote abnormal fatty acid metabolism in adipose ...tissue. Therefore, we hypothesised that maternal obesity combined with an offspring HC diet would alter the fatty acid metabolism of adipose tissue and subsequently contribute to offspring obesity. Leprdb/+ mice were used to model pre-pregnancy maternal obesity and the C57BL/6 wildtype were used as a control group. Offspring were fed either HC diet or a normal-carbohydrate (NC) diet after weaning. Brown adipose tissue (BAT) and white adipose tissue (WAT) were collected from offspring at 20 weeks of age and their fatty acid metabolome was characterized using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. We found that HC diet increased the body weight of offspring (males increased by 14.70% and females increased by 1.05%) compared to control mothers. However, maternal obesity alone caused a 7.9% body weight increase in female offspring. Maternal obesity combined with an offspring HC diet resulted in dynamic alterations of the fatty acid profiles of adipose tissue in male offspring. Under the impact of a HC diet, the fatty acid metabolome was solely elevated in female WAT, whereas, the fatty acid metabolites in BAT showed a similar trend in the male and female offsprings. 6,9-octadecadienoic acid and 12,15-cis-octadecatrienoic acid were significantly affected in female WAT, in response to offspring consumption of a HC diet. Our study demonstrated that maternal obesity and offspring HC diet have different metabolic effects on adipose tissue in male and female offsprings.

La presencia de un trastorno psiquiátrico en los padres se asocia con una mayor frecuencia de psicopatología en sus hijos. Así, los hijos de padres con diagnóstico de Trastorno Bipolar (TB) ...comparados con aquellos hijos de padres sin psicopatología tienen mayor riesgo de presentar distintos trastornos psiquiátricos, a edades más tempranas, así como disminución en su funcionamiento global, sin embargo aún no se han determinado con precisión cuáles son los factores clínicos y socio demográficos asociados a la presentación de trastornos psiquiátricos en este grupo de niños y adolescentes en riesgo. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar y comparar las variables clínicas y socio demográficas asociadas a un menor funcionamiento global en una muestra de niños y adolescentes hijos de padres con TB. Previo asentimiento y consentimiento informado se reclutaron 61 menores de entre seis y 17 años de edad, hijos de padres con TB que fueran pacientes de la Clínica de Trastornos Afectivos del Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz. El diagnóstico de los menores se estableció mediante entrevista clínica utilizando el K-SADS-PL, y con la escala C-GAS se determinó el funcionamiento global. De los 61 evaluados, 62.3% fueron mujeres, el menor funcionamiento (definido por una puntuación <81) se encontró en el 44.3% de las mujeres vs. el 18% de los hombres (?2=3.29, p<0.043). Al evaluar la comorbilidad se encontró que los sujetos con trastorno depresivo mayor (TDM), trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad (TDAH) y trastorno negativista desafiante (TND) presentaron 10 veces mayor riesgo de cursar con menor funcionamiento global. Ser mujer confiere tres veces mayor riesgo para un menor funcionamiento. Conclusión. Se encontró que la comorbilidad con trastornos externalizados y depresión, así como el género femenino, son las características vinculadas al menor funcionamiento global en hijos de padres con TB.
Various studies in rodents have shown that nanoparticles are transferred to the breast milk. Under the present study, lactating Wistar rats were repetitively gavaged 5, 25, and 50 mg/kg bw of zinc ...oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) and 50 mg kg−1 bw of bulk zinc oxide (bZnO) for 19 days after parturition. The results showed that ZnO-NPs were absorbed in the small intestine of dams and distributed to the liver. Furthermore, ZnO-NPs were distributed to the intestine and liver of rat pups through dam’s milk. No significant change in body weight was observed in the dams treated with ZnO-NPs or bZnO and their offsprings as compared to the control group. The spleen weight significantly increased in the rat dams treated with 50 mg kg−1 of ZnO-NPs. ZnO-NPs were mostly excreted through feces. The levels of liver cytochrome P450 reductase and serum total antioxidant capacity significantly decreased in the rat dams treated with ZnO-NPs (50 mg kg−1) and their offsprings. The levels of serum cytokines (tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-1 beta) and liver injury marker enzymes (alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase) significantly increased in the rat dams treated with ZnO-NPs (25 and 50 mg kg−1) and their offsprings. The level of immunoglobulin A secretion in the intestinal fluid of rat dams and their offsprings is significantly increased by increasing the dose of ZnO-NPs. Histopathology of intestine and liver of offsprings whose rat dams were treated with ZnO-NPs (50 mg kg−1) showed gross pathological changes. These results provide information for the safety evaluation of ZnO-NPs use during lactation. In conclusion, a dose-dependent postnatal transfer of ZnO-NPs is hazardous to the breastfed offsprings.

alone (the control group) for 3 h, respectively. Their offsprings were subjected to Morris water maze at day 28 and day 90 after birth to evaluate learning and memory. The expression of cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB) and phosphorylated cAMP-response element binding protein (p-CREB) was detected in the hippocampus dentate gyrus.
Less offsprings of Iso2 group were able to cross the platform than that of the control group (P < 0.05). Accordingly, the Iso2 offsprings expressed p-CREB mainly in the subgranular zone in contrast to the whole granular cell layer of hippocampus dentate gyrus as detected in the Iso1 and control offsprings; the expression level of pCREB was also lower in the Iso2 than Iso1 or control offsprings (P < 0.05).
