Poslušajmo, kaj meni o delu z najmlajšimi vaditelj profesor Janez Tome /izjava Janez Tome/.

Childhood in Slovenian emigration context is one of the least researched topics within Slovenian migration studies. The book ('Slovenian emigration in the light of children’s experience') tries to ...shed light upon it from the angles of different disciplines. Drawing on various definitions of children and categories of children in connection with migration, presented in the first chapter, the authors were mainly interested in those aspects that have been more or less neglected in the past. The second part of the book thus examines childhood in emigration context as it can be observed in the literary works and various websites created by Slovenian emigrants and their descendants. The third part of the book focuses on some specific migrant situations. The authors of these chapters have examined some intimate aspects of migrant experience of children of the so-called Alexandrian Women, children involved in forced migration during the Second World War, and children of diplomats. The fourth part of the book discusses the Yugoslav public care for the children in Slovenian diaspora between the World Wars, migration of children within the Yugoslav area, and the care for the children of Slovenian descent in Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of their learning and preservation of Slovenian language.
Na osnovi indeksa telesne mase (ITM) so bili otroci razdeljeni v skupine z normalno telesno težo, s prekomerno telesno težo in z debelostjo.
Aim: The main aim of the research was to find out whether there are any differences in physical fitness between non-overweight, overweight and obese children.
Research has been carried out on 572 children from the north-eastern part of Slovenia (aged 7.3 years, SD=1.29). Children were classified as non-overweight, overweight and obese according to age and sex specific body mass index (BMI) cut off points. In order to assess physical fitness, six different tests that cover explosive power, balance, coordination, speed and endurance were used. ANOVA was used to assess the differences in physical fitness between non-overweight, overweight and obese groups. Statistical significance was set at an α level of 0.05.
Results show that 73.8% of children were in the non-overweight group, 16.6% in overweight group and 9.6% in obese group. Differences in all physical fitness tests between non-overweight, overweight and obese children are statistically significant (p<0.05). We have established that the non-overweight children achieved a higher level of physical fitness than overweight and obese children. In addition, overweight children achieved a higher level of physical fitness than obese children.
This data suggests that the level of physical fitness and weight status are closely related
Correlations between obesity and asthma control in children: Hungarian primary care pilot study Introduction: Asthma is often associated with overweight and obesity. The aim of this study was to find ...associations between asthma control, obesity and different levels of physical activity. Methods: Using a questionnaire, 117 asthmatic patients between 6-18 years of age were interviewed. Two groups of children, normal vs. overweight, at different levels of physical activity (sport, school-based proper or light activity and full physical exemption) were compared. Asthma control was evaluated in two groups (controlled vs. non or partially controlled). Results: The asthmatic status was generally controlled in 78%; in 81% and 72% of patients with a normal weight and overweight, respectively. Being overweight was more common among girls than boys (43.2% vs. 30.3%). A positive family history of asthma was revealed in many cases; the prevalence of asthma was found at 63% (P=0.0074) among the parents. Weight was significantly higher when the parents themselves were overweight. A lightened workload in physical education lessons at school doubled the risk of obesity (P=0.25), while full exemption increased it by six times (P=0.06). High bodyweight was found in 37% and 31% of children who had received steroid medication and other treatment, respectively (P=0.57). Conclusion: High bodyweight and physical inactivity worsened the chances of effective asthma treatment, while sport improved it. The rates of physical activity among the surveyed patients were lower than recommended. More focus is needed; paediatricians, school-teachers and parents should pay more attention to the issue when establishing a proper family background for healthier lifestyles. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
