This article proposes two different approaches to automatically create a map for valid on-street car parking spaces. For this, we use car sharing park-out events data. The first one uses spatial ...aggregation and the second a machine learning algorithm. For the former, we chose rasterization and road sectioning; for the latter we chose decision trees. We compare the results of these approaches and discuss their advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, we show our results for a neighborhood in the city of Berlin and report a classification accuracy of 91.6% on the original imbalanced data. Finally, we discuss further work; from gathering more data over a longer period of time to fitting spatial Gaussian densities to the data and the usage of apps for manual validation and annotation of parking spaces to improve ground truth data.
This paper presents our smart parking solution implemented at "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu (LBUS) Romania, which consists in a hardware / software embedded system for managing the institution's ...parking lots, namely sharing the parking places in excess for people who are in traffic in neighbourhood of LBUS and are looking to park. Our solution is flexible, universal, applicable to all faculties that have car parks from Romania and not only, in university cities where the crowd is bigger, but also to other private institutions that own parking spaces inefficiently exploited. The advantages introduced are primarily economic, then social and even environmental. The first benefit is economic - for institutions which exploit their free parking spaces during the year, at different moments of time (holiday, afternoon, or time when people left from work) offering for people who are searching for. From a social point of view, ensuring the convenience of drivers, reducing crowding especially at rush hours and reducing the time spent in search of a parking space, is also an important advantage. Reducing the cost of fuel required by cars that are looking for a parking space contributes to reducing pollution and improving air quality, having a positive impact on the environment.

The calculation of the required number of parking spaces on the example of the city of Perm in the Russian Federation is given.
Insufficient parking capacities trouble almost every city today. The demand for parking space is considerably higher than the supply and since creating new parking facilities is economically very ...challenging, it is important to look for ways to make the most of the existing parking space, especially as on-street parking is regarded. The aim is therefore to apply systems for efficient use of existing parking space, focusing in particular on monitoring the occupancy of parking space and providing the information to drivers. A large-scale pilot project was implemented in Uherské Hradiste in the second half of the year 2017. It involved testing of features and subsystems for parking management as well as monitoring the turnover and occupancy of parking spaces in the city. This article describes the course of the pilot project, the employed detection and action elements of the system and also deals with the evaluation and the outcomes of the pilot testing.
The urban parking spaces for loading/unloading are typically over-occupied, which shifts delivery operations to traffic lanes and pavements, increases traffic, generates noise, and causes pollution. ...We present a data analytics based routing optimization that improves the circulation of vehicles and utilization of parking spaces. We formalize this new problem and develop a novel multivehicle route planner that avoids congestions at loading/unloading areas and minimizes the total duration. We present the developed tool with an illustration and analysis for the urban freight in the city of Barcelona, which monitors tens of thousands of deliveries every day. Our system includes an effective evaluation of candidate routes by considering the waiting times and further delays of other deliverers as a first class citizen in the optimization. A two-layer local search is proposed with a greedy randomized adaptive method for variable neighborhood search. Our approach is applied and validated over data collected across Barcelona's urban freight transport network, which contains 3,704,034 parking activities. Our solution is shown to significantly improve the use of available parking spaces and the circulation of vehicles, as evidenced by the results. The analysis also provides useful insights on how to manage delivery routes and parking spaces for sustainable urban freight transport and city logistics.

Path planning is one of the fundamental aspects of intelligent vehicle navigation. Based on the kinematic model and the actual vehicle parking process, we proposed two improved geometriclly minimum ...radius and unequal radius path planning algorithms. The computer simulation results showed that two path planning algorithms had expanded significantly the scope of application, meanwhile the combination of two algorithms proposed above had optimized the whole process of parking. The algorithms proposed in this paper have a certain reference value on the study of self-parking.
Effective and practical parking space detection significantly contribute to parking information management in the field of intelligent transportation system. Therefore, efforts are needed to develop ...devices to detect whether parking spaces occupied accurately and transmit data collected to parking database in real-time. In this study, devices composed of master and slave nodes based on controller area network bus are developed. Following a review on previous studies, the concept of the devices is proposed. According to the design and implementation of the devices, a comprehensive illustration on how the devices work is presented. Pilot testing experiments confirmed that the devices provide efficient and reliable parking space detection and information transmission.
