Carol Haviland, Joan Mullin, and their collaborators report on a three-year interdisciplinary interview project on the subject of plagiarism, authorship, and "property," and how these are conceived ...across different fields. The study investigated seven different academic fields to discover disciplinary conceptions of what types of scholarly production count as "owned."Less a research report than a conversation, the book offers a wide range of ideas, and the chapters here will provoke discussion on scholarly practice relating to intellectual property, plagiarism, and authorship---and to how these matters are conveyed to students. Although these authors find a good deal of consensus in regard to the ethical issues of plagiarism, they document a surprising variety of practice on the subject of what ownership looks like from one discipline to another. And they discover that students are not often instructed in the conventions of their major field.
Plagiarism is one of academic dishonesty, which has become a central issue in the academic sector. The aims of this study were to investigate students understanding through plagiarism and also to ...examine the reason why they committed plagiarism. This study used a quantitative approach. To obtain the data, questionnaire and interview were used. The finding showed that their understanding of plagiarism bounded in citing without giving sources. Further, the result showed that lack of knowledge, lack of time and unintentionally committed plagiarism were the top three reasons why the graduate students committed plagiarism.Abstrak: Plagiasi adalah salah satu ketidakjujuran akademik yang menjadi isu utama dalam bidang akademik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki pemahaman siswa tentang plagiasi dan untuk mengetahui alasan mengapa mereka melakukan tindakan plagiasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Kuesioner dan wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman mereka tentang plagiasi hanya terbatas tentang mengutip tanpa memberikan rujukan. Selanjutnya, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kurangnya pengetahuan, waktu, dan kemudahan untuk menemukan materi di internet merupakan tiga alasan utama mengapa mahasiswa pascasarjana melakukan tindakan plagiasi.

Tlamçani, S. Benjelloun, H. Deham, et M. Er-Rami publiée dans le Journal de Mycologie Médicale. The authors investigate trends over time, including internet-based cheating. They consider personal and situational reasons and the culture of groups where dishonesty is more common (such as business majors) and social settings that support cheating (such as fraternities and sororities).
Faculty and administrators are increasing their efforts to promote academic honesty among students. Orientation and training sessions, information on college and university websites, chapters in student handbooks that describe codes of conduct, honor codes, and course syllabi all define cheating and establish the consequences.
Based on the authors’ multiyear, multisite surveys, Cheating in College quantifies and analyzes student cheating to demonstrate why academic integrity is important and the cultural efforts that are effective in restoring it.
Tant les médecins du milieu académique que ceux pratiquant dans des institutions privées subissent une pression grandissante sous l’injonction « publier ou périr ». Bien que certaines préoccupations ...éthiques relatives à l’attribution de la qualité d’auteur aient gagné l’intérêt des chercheurs, le droit d’auteur demeure une notion négligée par les cliniciens. Les objectifs de cet article étaient : 1) d’expliquer aux chirurgiens orthopédistes ce qui est protégé par le droit d’auteur dans un article scientifique ; 2) d’évaluer quelles sont les implications légales des contrats d’édition ; 3) préciser quelles sont les techniques de diffusion des œuvres qui permettent d’accroître le h-index.
Afin de réaliser cette étude, nous nous sommes basés sur les textes de lois traitant de la propriété intellectuelle ainsi que la jurisprudence et la doctrine y relative. Nous avons effectué une analyse des données de la littérature médicale et de droit comparé entre principales législations européennes ainsi que la législation américaine.
Les principes élémentaires du droit d’auteur et les conséquences légales des contrats d’édition sont cruciaux à comprendre. Dès sa création, un manuscrit scientifique est de facto protégé par le droit d’auteur. Ce dernier confère aux auteurs des droits moraux et patrimoniaux. Les droits moraux protègent la personnalité des auteurs et leur appartiennent irrémédiablement. Ils ne peuvent être transférés, contrairement aux droits patrimoniaux. Les contrats d’édition ne peuvent traiter que des droits dérivés et patrimoniaux de l’œuvre. La plupart des articles scientifiques sont publiés en Open Access via des licences Creative Commons (CC). Plus une licence CC laisse de liberté sur l’utilisation de l’article, plus celui-ci pourra être exploité par d’autres auteurs qui auront la possibilité de le compléter et/ou le modifier. Attendu que l’obligation de citation est imposée dans toutes les licences CC, l’auteur qui publie un article sous une licence CC peu restrictive favorise ainsi le potentiel d’augmentation son h-index.
Un homme averti en vaut deux. Les auteurs qui maîtrisent les outils de publication pourront positivement influencer la valeur de leurs publications par le biais de l’augmentation de leur h-index et aussi décider de soutenir le nouveau paradigme de l’Open Science : l’abandon de la propriété immatérielle au profit de l’innovation, la promotion du partage de la connaissance au lieu de la protection des données.
