Although it might sometimes seem as though PFHEA and NTF are high-level and strategic forms of recognition for those working in high-level and strategic positions, this is not necessarily the case, ...and both have been achieved by an ever-increasing number of Learning Developers. Join us in this session if either of these is something you’ve been mulling over or a goal you’ve set yourself, and we will outline what’s involved in writing an application, share with you the kinds of evidence we used in our own applications, explore how you can meet the requirements, and hopefully answer your questions about how you might proceed. Aim high!

With so many state standards and demands of accountability, it can be a challenge for teachers to teach in ways that create energy and enthusiasm for reading. In their book,
Reading Wellness: Lessons ...in Independence and Proficiency
, authors Dr. Jan Burkins and Kim Yaris want to reignite the passion in teachers and drive them to instill confidence, curiosity, and joy in students.
Burkins and Yates define reading wellness to include all aspects of readership 'so we can be our best reading selves'. The book is built around a framework of four intentions: alignment, balance, sustainability, and joy. It includes a series of field-tested lessons that help children read closely and carefully while still honoring their interests, passions, and agency as readers.
Reading Wellness
encourages each teacher to shape these ideas in ways that support personal ideals and goals while nurturing a love of reading and a passion for lifelong learning.
This article adopts a complexity theory framework to review the literature on teachers 'professional development practices, the generative systems of these practices, and the impact that learning ...experiences have on their knowledge and changes in classroom practices. The review brings together multiple strands of literature on teacher professional development, teaching and learning, teacher change, and organizational learning. In doing so, it illustrates that process-product logic has dominated the literature on teacher professional learning and that this has limited explanatory ability. The review demonstrates the ways the elements of three subsystems (the teacher, the school, and the learning activity) interact and combine in different ways and with varying intensities to influence teacher learning. The limitations of studies focusing on specific elements or subsystems are highlighted. The article concludes that to understand teacher learning scholars must adopt methodological practices that focus on explanatory causality and the reciprocal influences of all three subsystems.

This publication is part of a series that aims to provide valuable resources, information, and support to family service professionals and Extension agents who support military families navigating ...the unique challenges and opportunities that come with a military lifestyle. Collaborative relationships between families and teachers of elementary-aged children are complicated by teachers’ lack of training for family engagement and by hierarchical and racialized power ...differentials. Home visiting can create a space for teachers to center and honor families’ ways of knowing and being, but those home visits need to be conducted in ways specifically intended to build relationships with families; otherwise, the visits can do damage. In this descriptive exploratory study, we examined how teachers responded to families’ openings during home visits. We articulate a theory that describes actions teachers can employ to build rapport, particularly across difference. This work has implications for research on family engagement and for teacher preparation for home visiting.
