A qualitative analysis method to identify related substances of rifampicin by correlation of spectra in chromatography was established. Standard chromatographic and spectral data obtained by ...high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) were developed and used in identification of peaks in samples by calculating correlation coefficients (R). The comparison of spectra was expanded to three-dimensional space. Peaks in chromatography can be identified accurately and rapidly through chromatographic system change. The identification results were validated by LC-MS. The threshold of R was set to 0.99 in order to discriminate the impurities and the minimal amount for identification was 30 ng. Taking full advantage of chromatographic separate efficiency and spectral exclusiveness, the method is accurate and reproducible as a new and effective way to identify multi-components in drugs.
A new and simple high performance liquid chromatography evaporative light scattering detection for the determination of astromycin sulfate and its related substances was developed. The high ...performance liquid chromatography electrospray ion trap mass spectrometry was used to identify the structures of a degradation product of astromycin. The column was Agilent SB-C

The influence of a nucleic acid-related substance on Pleurotus nebrodensis cultivation was assessed in terms of mycelial growth and pharmacological effects. The addition of the nucleic acid-related ...substance facilitated the growth of mycelia in all culture media, i.e., liquid, agar and sawdust. The growth-facilitating effect of the nucleic acid-related substance was highest at 0.1% concentration in liquid and agar media. The results of tests for anti-platelet aggregation and chemokine gene expression inhibition demonstrated that mycelia tended to be active when cultured with addition of the nucleic acid-related substance to the medium. Pharmacological effects were absolutely attributed to the additive.
An insulin-related growth-promoting substance was detected in the serum of a patient with Hodgkin's disease who suffered from severe hypoglycaemia, as well as in the supernatant of homogenized spleen ...tissue of the same patient. Low concentrations of this substance enhanced DNA synthesis of short-term-cultured spleen tumour cells obtained from the same patient, while the addition of anti-insulin antiserum interfered with that effect. Moreover, the preincubation of this insulin-related substance with the anti-insulin antiserum abrogated its stimulatory effect on tumour cell proliferation. Both insulin and the insulin-related substance bound to patients splenocytes to a similar extent. The data suggest that the insulin-related substance, found in this particular case of Hodgkin's disease, plays a role in tumour progression by an autocrine mechanism.
In order to clarify the pathophysiological significance of the fibrinogen (FgDP)-protamine complex, the interaction of protamine sulphate with fibrinogen was studied in vitro and in vivo. The ...insolubilization of fibrinogen, FgDP-X and FgDP-Y were induced by protamine sulphate in vitro. Furthermore, the fibrinogen (FgDP)-protamine complex could be observed in the circulating blood of rabbits by means of the crossed immunoelectrophoresis of plasma after the intravenous administration of the excess protamine sulphate to rabbits. On the histopathological observations, the intravenous administration of the excess protamine sulphate caused the deposition of fibrinogen-related substance into the glomerular capillary and Bowman's capsule of kidney of rabbits.
