The importance of resilience for employees' well-being and performance at work has grown steadily in recent years. This development has become even more pronounced through the recent COVID-19 ...pandemic and its consequences, including major changes in occupational settings. Although there is increasing interest in resilience in general and a growing number of publications focusing on the development of resilience in particular, many questions remain about resilience training, especially in organizational contexts. The purpose of this scoping review is to uncover what is known about resilience training in organizational contexts. A systematic search of four databases for articles published through 2021 was conducted. A total of 48 studies focusing on resilience training programs in organizational contexts were included in this review. The review provides relevant insights into resilience training programs by focusing on program characteristics, target group, study design, and outcomes. Based on the results, the main aspects that concern the development of resilience training programs for organizational settings and requirements for the study design for empirical investigation were summarized. The results of the review highlight possible directions for future research and offer useful insights for resilience-enhancing training programs in organizations.
Objective: The skin-deep resilience pattern suggests that, for low-socioeconomic-status African American youths, the ability to maintain high self-control and to persist with efforts to succeed may ...act as a double-edged sword, facilitating academic success and adjustment while undermining physical health. We extend research by following a sample of rural African Americans, asking whether the skin-deep resilience pattern, evident during adolescence, persists into adulthood by increasing susceptibility to metabolic syndrome (MetS) and insulin resistance (IR). Methods: The sample included 368 11-year-old African Americans, their parents, and their teachers. Parents provided data on family poverty across ages 11-18 years. Teachers provided data on youths' planful self-control across ages 11-13 years. At age 27 years, participants completed questionnaires about educational attainment and psychological adjustment and provided a fasting blood sample from which MetS and IR were assessed. Results: Regardless of years spent living in poverty, planful self-control during childhood was associated with college graduation (p < .001) and with low levels of depressive symptoms (p = .016) and antisocial behavior (p = .028). For participants exhibiting high levels of self-control, however, living more years in poverty across adolescence was associated with a greater number of MetS components that met clinical cutoff criteria (p = .018) and greater IR (p = .016) during adulthood. Conclusions: The skin-deep resilience pattern persists into adulthood, particularly among those who spent more of their adolescence living in poverty, and increases vulnerability to MetS and IR while it also promotes college graduation and positive psychological adjustment.
The increase in power outages caused by high-impact low-probability events, such as extreme weather-related climate variation events, is the main reason behind studying power system resilience. ...However, the concepts of resilience as well as the proactive procedures that can be carried out to address these events are such have not so far been satisfactorily investigated notwithstanding their growing benefits. This paper exhibits a review of the current research on power system resilience; which predominantly focuses on proactive resilience against natural disasters. Firstly, it gives a theoretical framework to acquire insights into power system resilience and its key features. Secondly, it presents frameworks for proactive resilience of power systems with a spotlight on the extreme weather events and their effect. Finally, various strategies for preparing, hardening and enhancing proactive resilience with a focus on microgrids for improving power system resilience are reviewed.

Youth who experience bullying are at risk for psychopathology, indicating the necessity of identifying factors that may protect against the deleterious effects of being bullied. The present study ...expands upon prior research by examining resilience as a mediator of the effects of experiencing bullying on depression and anxiety within a sample of 2155 adolescents. Results indicated that youth who experienced bullying were more likely to have higher symptoms of depression and anxiety and lower resilience, while higher levels of resilience were associated with fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety. Resilience partially mediated the associations of experiencing bullying with depression and anxiety symptoms, suggesting that resilience may serve as a protective factor for adolescents who experience bullying. These findings have implications for programming that seeks to address bullying, peer victimization, and promotion of adolescent mental health.

Mobile edge computing (MEC) and fog are emerging computing models that extend the cloud and its services to the edge of the network. The emergence of both MEC and fog introduce new requirements, ...which mean their supported deployment models must be investigated. In this paper, we point out the influence and strong impact of the extended cloud (i.e., the MEC and fog) on existing communication and networking service models of the cloud. Although the relation between them is fairly evident, there are important properties, notably those of security and resilience, that we study in relation to the newly posed requirements from the MEC and fog. Although security and resilience have been already investigated in the context of the cloud-to a certain extent-existing solutions may not be applicable in the context of the extended cloud. Our approach includes the examination of models and architectures that underpin the extended cloud, and we provide a contemporary discussion on the most evident characteristics associated with them. We examine the technologies that implement these models and architectures, and analyze them with respect to security and resilience requirements. Furthermore, approaches to security and resilience-related mechanisms are examined in the cloud (specifically, anomaly detection and policy-based resilience management), and we argue that these can also be applied in order to improve security and achieve resilience in the extended cloud environment.
Purpose: Psychological resilience is vital to the development of sport talents. Qualitative research has consistently demonstrated that sport resilience encapsulates a mixed package of resilience ...qualities (reflecting positive traits and characteristics) and resilience support (reflecting perceived support and related resources). Ironically, sport resilience research adopting quantitative methods has been assessing resilience as a unidimensional construct, with little attention to the multi-facet nature of resilience and its effects on performance. In the present research, we tested a novel proposition that resilience qualities predict reduced pre-competition cognitive anxiety and contribute to performance more than resilience support. Methods

Results: Across two samples of competitive table tennis players (Study 1: N = 196 competing at province level; Study 2: N = 106 competing at national level), we consistently found resilience qualities, rather than resilience support, predicted lower levels of pre-competition cognitive anxiety and superior performance at a national championship. Results also suggest that pre-competition cognitive anxiety mediated the relationship between resilience qualities and performance. Conclusion: The findings provide the first evidence supporting the divergent effects of resilience qualities and resilience support in predicting pre- competition anxiety and championship performance and call for the consideration of such a distinction when designing and delivering resilience programs.
Interdisciplinary research is called for to model integrated urban resilience across separate urban subsystems (infrastructure, governance, resources, socio-economic), and for chartering pathways ...toward an urban ‘desirable state’. A core challenge is to determine the linkages between the subsystems. In this work, we demonstrate a novel approach by first constructing profiles of a desirable state, based on human shared values obtained empirically, and then use those to identify linkages naturally occurring between associated subsystems. We demonstrate the approach in two contrasting cities, Shanghai and Vienna, using WeValue InSitu methods to crystallize shared values and explore perspectives of urban disruption. The Desirable States of both cities provide elements with intrinsic strong linkages between urban subsystems, which can be represented with system dynamics mapping. These results reveal that this values-based approach contributes to modeling and studies of integrated urban resilience, for theory building and for applications.

In this review, underlying principles for community resilience interventions are (a) use a multihazard approach relevant to ...the local context, (b) utilize community assessment, (c) focus on community engagement, (d) adhere to bioethical principles, (e) emphasize both assets and needs, and (f) encourage skill development. The interventions are compared with respect to parameters that address their foundation, methodology, and implementation.
In this paper, a planning-oriented resilience assessment framework is proposed that can help to design a more resilient power transmission system against extreme weather-induced events, such as ...typhoon disasters. It consists of three major models, i) a wind field-based probabilistic typhoon model to determine the level of uncertainty in the intensity and path of the typhoon; ii) a spatiotemporal fragility model of the power transmission corridor to quantify the spatiotemporal impacts of extreme wind speed on the failure probability of transmission corridor, and iii) a resilience assessment model of the planning system that allows us to develop quantitative resilience indices from both the system and component perspectives. The combinatorial enumeration method is introduced into the proposed framework to generate various potential typhoon disasters. Meanwhile, the impact-increment-based state enumeration (IISE) method is embedded within the proposed framework to improve its computational efficiency. The proposed method can provide the key information to identify the weak points of the system as well as inform the design of enhanced resilient planning schemes of transmission system against typhoon disasters. Extensive simulations carried out on the IEEE RTS-79 system considering realistic typhoon scenarios demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
