Dino Risi's La marcia su Roma is a film that aims to reflect on the sociohistorical context that led Fascism to secure political power in Italy. The film was shot in 1962, two years after the newly ...elected Christian Democrat Tambroni government accepted the political support of the Movimento Sociale Italiano (a neo-Fascist party) to form a majority in Parliament. Set between 1919 and 1922, the years when the Fascist political party started to take shape, La marcia su Roma reflects on Italians' compliant attitude with Fascism, both in the early 1920s, the time of the Fascist rise to power, and in the early 1960s, the presenthistorical time of Risi's film. The film narrates the story of two ordinary men, Domenico Rocchetti (Vittorio Gassman) and Umberto Gavazza (Ugo Tognazzi), who, for different reasons, and out of no real political conviction, decide to join the camicie nere to march on Rome. La marcia su Roma ironically attempts to deconstruct the italiani brava gente myth by holding as responsible those Italians who, even lacking commitment to Fascism, were nonetheless compliant with it and therefore directly and/or indirectly contributed to the establishment of the Fascist regime. Key Words: Dino Risi, La marcia su Roma, italiani brava gente, Fascism, the march on Rome, Fernando Tambroni, Vittorio Gassman, Ugo Tognazzi.
While legal technology may bring efficiency and economy to business, where are the people in this process and what does it mean for their lives?Around five billion people globally are unable to ...address their everyday legal problems and do not have the security, opportunity or protection to redress their grievances and injustices. Courts and legal institutions can often be out of reach because of costs, distance or a lack of knowledge of rights and entitlements and judicial institutions may be under-funded leading to poor judicial infrastructure, inadequate staff, and limited resources to meet the needs of those who require such services. This book sets out to embed access to justice into mainstream discussions on the future of law and to explore how this can be addressed in different parts of the legal industry. It examines what changes in technology mean for the end user, whether an ordinary citizen, a client or a student. It looks at the everyday practice of law through a sector-wide analysis of law firms, universities, startups and civil society organisations. In doing so, the book provides a roadmap on how to address sector-specific access to justice questions and to draw lessons for the future. The book draws on experiences from judges, academics, practitioners, policy makers and educators and presents perspectives from both the Global South and the Global North.
The article aims to excavate the room of the film director, in the realm of ephemeral and everyday life, by focusing on scrapbooks. It begins with the belief that, to focus attention on these kinds ...of materials can offer a better understanding of certain, crucial nodes of film production and development practices; and furthermore that it can unveil elements of the theory and methodology of writing the history of film production and development. For instance, the use of ephemeral media as meta-history, where the “maker” leaves traces of his/her productive activity. This article focuses on a constellation of material traces that emerge when excavating the private archive of Dino Risi, held by his son, Marco Risi. It is a relevant occasion to open a cultural and anthropological perspective on the very early stages of the film storytelling.
Radiation-induced skin injury (RISI) commonly occur in cancer patients who received radiotherapy and is one of the first clinical symptoms after suffering from nuclear exposure. Oxidative damage is ...the major causes of RISI. Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is considered as a key mediator of the cellular antioxidant response. However, whether Nrf2 can alleviate RISI after high-dose irradiation remains unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that Nrf2-deficient (
Nrf2
-/-
) mice were susceptible to high-dose irradiation and adenovirus-mediated overexpression of Nrf2 (ad-Nrf2) protected against radiation in skin cells. Overexpression of Nrf2 attenuated the severity of skin injury after high-dose electron beam irradiation. To uncover the mechanisms of Nrf2 involved in RISI, mRNA sequencing technology was performed to analyze the mRNA expression profiles of Ad-Nrf2 skin cells following radiation. The results revealed that a total of 127 genes were significantly changed, 55 genes were upregulated, and 72 genes were downregulated after Nrf2 overexpression. GSEA showed that Nrf2 was associated with positive regulation of genes involved in the reactive oxygen species pathway after radiation. Taken together, this study illustrated the role of Nrf2 in RISI and provided potentially strategies for ameliorating RISI.
The organization of the egg capsule of the euholognathan stonefly, which represents the family Taeniopterygidae (Nemuroidea) was investigated using light and electron microscopy techniques. The ...presence of a complex, multilayered egg capsule, composed of a vitelline envelope, multilayered chorion, and extrachorion is described. The morphology of the eggshell of Brachyptera risi was compared with that of euholognthan and systellognathan egg coverings and the ground plan of the egg capsule in Plecoptera was discussed.
