Smart Grid es un nuevo concepto que busca articular los sistemas de energía eléctrica y de comunicaciones como un sistema unificado para la optimización del consumo energético en el mundo, en donde ...una de las tecnologías más aceptadas para la transmisión de información en entornos residenciales es Power Line Coomunicatios (PLC). El objetivo del presente artículo consiste en proponer un modelo soportado en teoría de colas, que permita evaluar el comportamiento del tráfico multiclase una red HAN (Home Area Network) bajo el estándar HomePlug AV (HPAV), el cual es uno de los estándares más importantes de la tecnología PLC. Acorde con los resultados obtenidos, el modelo propuesto permite estimar parámetros tales como tiempos de llegada, tiempos de espera en cola, tiempos de atención, probabilidad de pérdida de paquetes, throughput, número de paquetes perdidos, entre otros valores relacionados con el rendimiento de la red. Aunque el modelo puede ser considerado de gran ayuda para trabajos de investigación relacionados con las comunicaciones sobre PLC, podría ser combinado con otras técnicas de análisis más avanzadas, a fin de obtener resultados más profundos y en contextos más complejos.
Purpose
This study aims to identify the product attributes that influence customer satisfaction related to AI-enabled products with a strong forecast of growth. This study is very timely as the ...market for AI-based smart home products is still at a nascent stage in emerging economies (Vaishali Dar, 2021). Adding evidence to literature on the experience of customers, identifying the attributes that lead to customer satisfaction and those that lead to dissatisfaction are essential for products that were launched recently during the pandemic. This study makes valuable addition to the existing literature.
Design/methodology/approach
Online reviews (12,326 reviews) for EchoDot products launched by Amazon India during the pandemic were collected for the study. The attributes were identified based on the most frequently discussed attributes in the text reviews. Further review valence was determined to group the reviews under positive reviews indicating customer satisfaction and negative reviews indicating customer dissatisfaction. Logistic regression was used to identify the attributes that significantly impact customer satisfaction/dissatisfaction.
Findings
The results of the study indicate that while EchoDot is seen to add value to the smart home environment (home variable), video (video variable) and speaker (speaker variable) quality also contribute to customer satisfaction. Further, consumers found the product truly worth their money (value for money variable). Other attributes like a complaint about Bluetooth features are seen to increase the probability of customer dissatisfaction.
Originality/value
This study identifies the most important attributes that influence customer satisfaction in AI-enabled product sales on e-commerce platforms in pandemic times for India. Such studies are scarce in the emerging markets where the AI-based home appliance market is still in its nascent stage, and the customers are trying out their experiences with these products. What the customers expect and are these products fulfill these expectations is an important question that needs to be addressed by research. This study addresses this gap and adds to this literature.
The design and construction of a device prototype for a water level measurement system in a tank and controlling a number of garden light analogies has been carried-out and the prototype can be ...integrated into smarthome system. Three topics are discussed in this paper, including the manufacture, programming, and performance measurement of device prototypes. The formation of prototype of the device is done through wiring integration between electronic devices, in order to obtain the hardware handshacking. Programming the prototype of device is done through the creation of algorithms and preparation of syntax, in order to obtain the software handshacking. The performance of the prototype of device is measured when integrated into the Smarthome system, in order to obtain the hardware and software handshacking. The performance of prototype of the device when monitoring in the form of information about the water level in the water tank with 3 (three) conditions, namely the criteria of "empty", "medium", and "full", while the control in the form of information about the operation of ON/OFF of the LED as an analogy to the lamp garden are done for 3 (three) positions, namely position #1, #2, and #3. The manufactured subsystem prototype can be integrated into the smarthome system when a validation test is performed. Prototype of the device for monitoring and control based-on web that can be integrated into the smarthome system.

Objetivo: Diseñar e implementar un Prototipo de Smart Home automatizado orientado al Internet de las Cosas administrado vía una aplicación móvil. Metodología: La investigación fue de tipo deductiva, ...relacionando las variables del Internet de las Cosas y dispositivos utilizados dentro de los hogares. Asimismo, se utilizó tecnología aplicada, brindando una solución a una necesidad en los hogares orientada al Internet de las Cosas, desarrolladas en fases de diseño, implementación y montaje del sistema. Resultados: El prototipo de Smart Home con IoT desarrollado fue adaptado para funcionar en un hogar tamaño escala maquetado en material sintético y madera. Conclusiones: Se encontró que un Smart Home puede integrar diferentes dispositivos, electrodomésticos y sensores dentro de una casa y automatizarla con una mínima o ninguna intervención de las personas. El prototipo desarrollado puede mantener datos y registros de las diferentes variables IoT presentadas y automatizar a los dispositivos para trabajar de acuerdo con las necesidades del usuario. No sólo se nota una mejoría a través del proceso de automatización en el uso diario de los electrodomésticos sino también en la notificación de eventos de los sensores y el ahorro en el consumo de energía eléctrica, administrando todo desde una tableta o teléfono inteligente.
One of the goals of Smart Grids is to encourage distributed generation of energy in houses, hence allowing the user to profit by injecting energy into the power grid. The implementation of a ...differentiated tariff of energy per time of use, coupled with energy storage in batteries, enables profit maximization by the user, who can choose to sell or store the energy generated whenever it is convenient. This paper proposes a solution to the sequential decision-making problem of energy sale by applying reinforcement learning. Results show a significant increase in the total long-term profit by using the policy obtained with the proposed approach, when compared with a price-unaware selling policy.

In recent years, the advancements in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are mainly focused on the Internet of Things (IoT). In a real-world scenario, IoT based services improve the ...domestic environment and are used in various applications. Home automation based IoT is versatile and popular applications. In home automation, all home appliances are networked together and able to operate without human involvement. Home automation gives a significant change in humans life which gives smart operating of home appliances. This motivated us to develop a new solution which controls some home appliances like light, fan, door cartons, energy consumption, and level of the Gas cylinder using various sensors like LM35, IR sensors, LDR module, Node MCU ESP8266, and Arduino UNO. The proposed solution uses the sensor and detects the presence or absence of a human object in the housework accordingly. Our solution also provides information about the energy consumed by the house owner regularly in the form of message. Also, it checks, the level of gas in the gas cylinder if it reaches lesser than the threshold, it automatically books the gas and sends a reference number as a message to the house owner. The proposed solution is deployed and tested for various conditions. Finally, in this paper, the working model of our proposed solution is developed as a prototype and explained as a working model.

Intelligent heating controllers and smart home systems can reduce heating energy consumption and heating costs, among other things by adapting building heating to the presence / absence of the occupants. In this publication the results of five different studies, carried out at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP using dynamic building energy simulation, are summarized. These studies compare the intelligent systems with a control that corresponds to the EnEV reference technology. The evaluation of this combined data set allows the analysis of savings potentials separately for different years of construction, building types and family sizes. The systems examined show typical average saving potentials between 8 and 19 % for the final energy for heating and domestic hot water and potential energy cost savings between 0,3 and 2,6 €/(m

a). At the same time, the changes in thermal comfort caused by the systems are evaluated and compared with the potential savings. This shows a wide variation between the investigated cases. On the one hand, there are cases that show almost no potentials but reductions in the thermal comfort, on the other hand, in some variants an improvement in comfort is accompanied by a potential reduction in demand.
