Chronic psychological stress is associated with accelerated aging and increased risk for aging-related diseases, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are unclear.
We examined the effect of ...lifetime stressors on a DNA methylation-based age predictor, epigenetic clock. After controlling for blood cell-type composition and lifestyle parameters, cumulative lifetime stress, but not childhood maltreatment or current stress alone, predicted accelerated epigenetic aging in an urban, African American cohort (n = 392). This effect was primarily driven by personal life stressors, was more pronounced with advancing age, and was blunted in individuals with higher childhood abuse exposure. Hypothesizing that these epigenetic effects could be mediated by glucocorticoid signaling, we found that a high number (n = 85) of epigenetic clock CpG sites were located within glucocorticoid response elements. We further examined the functional effects of glucocorticoids on epigenetic clock CpGs in an independent sample with genome-wide DNA methylation (n = 124) and gene expression data (n = 297) before and after exposure to the glucocorticoid receptor agonist dexamethasone. Dexamethasone induced dynamic changes in methylation in 31.2 % (110/353) of these CpGs and transcription in 81.7 % (139/170) of genes neighboring epigenetic clock CpGs. Disease enrichment analysis of these dexamethasone-regulated genes showed enriched association for aging-related diseases, including coronary artery disease, arteriosclerosis, and leukemias.
Cumulative lifetime stress may accelerate epigenetic aging, an effect that could be driven by glucocorticoid-induced epigenetic changes. These findings contribute to our understanding of mechanisms linking chronic stress with accelerated aging and heightened disease risk.
Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasy experiment pre-posttest nonequivalent control group. Responden terdiri 2 kelompok masing-masing 18 orang, diambil dengan consecutive sampling. Instrumen berupa ...standar operasional prosedur, lembar observasi, dan kuesioner International Stress Management Association (ISMA). Uji statistik menggunakan Wilcoxon. Terdapat penurunan mean skor stres di kelompok kontrol dan intervensi yaitu 0,50 dan 1,50. Uji bivariat pre-posttest kelompok kontrol dan itervensi yaitu p-value 0,015 dan 0,000. Uji beda posttest antar kelompok didapatkan p-value 0,630. Ada pengaruh kombinasi relaksasi otot progresif dan terapi musik tradisional Bali terhadap stress kerja petani di Tabanan Bali.

Hücreler üç deneysel gruba ayrılmıştır: (I) sham-kontrol; (II) H2O2 ile muamele edilen hücreler; (III) H2O2 muamelesinin ardından PEMF'ye maruz bırakılan hücreler. Hücre canlılığı ve glutatyon miktarı sırasıyla spektrofotometrik ve Yüksek Performanslı Likit Kromatografi (HPLC) teknikleri kullanılarak ölçülmüştür. Yüksek doz H2O2 ile muamele edilen nöroblastoma hücre hattında muamele sonrası PEMF maruziyetinin oksidatif stresin zararlı etkilerine karşı sitoprotektif etkisinin, hücre canlılığında ve GSH miktarında artış ile ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur.
The Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) is one of the non-ionizing forms of electromagnetic fields that has been used as an alternative therapy for various medical problems, including treating symptoms of neurodegenerative disorders. The present work’s goal is to explore the possible effects of short-term exposure to 75 Hz frequency of PEMF on the amount of glutathione (GSH) in high-dose hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) treated human neuroblastoma cell line. Cells were divided into three experimental groups: (I) sham-control; (II) cells treated by H2O2; (III) cells post-exposed to PEMF following H2O2 challenge. The cell viability and the amount of glutathione were measured by spectrophotometrically and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) techniques, respectivelly. It has been found that the cytoprotective effect of post-PEMF exposure against deleterious effects of oxidative stress triggered by high-dose H2O2 challenge in neuroblastoma cell line is mediated by the increase in the cell viability and the elevation in the GSH amount.
Pada tahun 2008, sekitar 2,8 juta orang dewasa meninggal akibat obesitas, sekitar 300 juta orang yang secara klinis tergolong obesitas yang merupakan penyokong utama penyakit degeneratif seperti ...diabetes, penyakit jantung, dan kanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui prevalensi obesitas pada Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) Sekretariat Jenderal Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia dan pengaruh aktivitas fisik dan stres terhadap obesitas. Penelitian potong lintang ini dilakukan pada bulan Mei - Juni 2013 di Jakarta pada 230 responden yang dipilih secara acak sistematik dari 1.119 PNS. Obesitas diukur dengan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) berupa rasio berat badan (kilogram) dibagi tinggi badan kuadrat (meter2), responden dinyatakan obesitas jika IMT ³ 25 kg/m2. Prevalensi obesitas pada PNS Sekretariat Jenderal Kementerian Kesehatan RI Tahun 2013 adalah 48%. Setelah dikontrol oleh konsumsi makanan dan usia didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara aktivitas fisik dan stres dengan obesitas. Kelompok yang melakukan aktivitas fisik sedang atau berat berisiko 0,4 atau 0,6 kali lebih rendah untuk mengalami obesitas dan kelompok yang mengalami stres sedang atau berat berisiko 4,6 atau 2,4 kali lebih besar untuk mengalami obesitas. Disarankan Kementerian Kesehatan melakukan pemeriksaan obesitas pada semua pegawai secara rutin dan menyelenggarakan olahraga rutin setiap hari serta memanfaatkan fasilitas olahraga (fitness center) untuk menjaga kebugaran.In 2008, about 2,8 milion adult people were dead caused by obesity, about 300 milions people who clinically obese who is main support of degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus, heart desease, and cancer. This study aimed to know the prevalence of obesity among civil servant Secretariat General of the Ministry of Health of Republic of Indonesia and the effect of physical activity and stress. The cross sectional studies was performed on 230 respondents who selected by systematic random samsampling. Obesity is measured using Body Mass Index (BMI) i.e. the ratio between the weight (in kilograms) divided by height (in meters squares), obesity exist if BMI ³ 25 kg/m2. Data analysis was done using multivariate logistic regression. Results of the study showed that the prevalence of obesity is 48%. After controlled by nutrient intake and age there is a significant relationship between physical activity and stress with obesity. Moderate and heavy physical activity have a risk of 0.4 or 0.6 times less likely to be obese and groups who experience moderate or severe stress has a risk of 4.6 or 2.4 times more likely to be obese. Advised on the Ministry of Health to conduct regular monitoring of the occurrence of obesity in all its employees and create aschedule and applying the best workouts together and makeuse of the sports facilities (fitness center).

Ninety-three individual cannabis plants, representing drug and fibre accessions of widespread origin were profiled with five STR makers. A total of 79 alleles were detected across the five loci. All but four individuals from a single drug-type accession had a unique multilocus genotype. An analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) revealed significant genetic variation among accessions, with an average of 25% genetic differentiation. By contrast, only 6% genetic difference was detected between drug and fibre crop accessions and it was not possible to unequivocally assign plants as either drug or fibre type. However, our results suggest that drug strains may typically possess lower genetic diversity than fibre strains, which may ultimately provide a means of genetic delineation.
Our findings demonstrate the promise of cannabis STR markers to provide information on: (1) agronomic type, (2) the geographical origin of drug seizures, and (3) evidence of conspiracy in production of clonally propagated drug crops.
