The level of development and quality of life for a country depends on its newborn. Bangladesh has failed to reduce the number of underweight children between 1990 and 2015, whereas overweight is one ...of the most visible yet neglected public health issues. Hence, immediate actions need to be taken to improve both cases. The objective of this study is to identify the influencing socioeconomic and demographic factors for the discrepancy in under-5 child's weight.
The study is based on the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS), 2014. Originally, the data was collected from 17,866 households. After extracting the variable from the sample weighted original dataset, this study covered 8092 respondents. The dependent variable, under-5 child's weight was settled by scheming weight-for-age Z-score (WAZ) and Body Mass Index-for-age Z-score (BAZ). Then, the polytomous logistic regression model was incorporated to get insight into the underweight and overweight categories relative to the normal weighted under-5 child.
The significant predictors for influencing under-5 child's weight are place of residence, mother's and father's education level, mother's body mass index, mother's current working status, mother's age at first birth, father's occupation, child's birth order, and region of residence.
Parental education, mother's current working status and place of residence have the most significant effect on under-5 child's weight. Public health officials and administrators of Bangladesh across sectors need to develop more effective programs and strategies for effective actions to adequately address the good nutrition and health of a child.
With the aim to study the inheritance of lethal gene ‘luteus-Pa’ in three derivated progenies from self and cross-fertilization of cacao (Theobroma cacao L) varieties, a study was carried out ...during January to September 2013. As genetic material C-25, S-5 y Pa-150 varieties were utilized and this one were self and cross pollinated and their progenies were divided in two replicates with 100 seeds each and sowed in plastic recipients containing a substrate 2:1(soil: sand). In order to contrast theobserved segregation with its expected homologous 3:1 (monogenic inheritance), the Chi-square (X2) test was utilized. The results shown that only one from self-fertilized progeny of C-25 variety exhibited the mendelian segregation 3:1 in both replicates, so that it lead to infer this one is carrier of lethal gene ‘luteus-Pa’ in heterozygote condition whereas that the progeny from Pa-150 x C-25 cross no found none lethal seedling and submitted to Chi-square (X2) test it could be to infer this one no segregate in the proportion 3:1 therefore, the Pa-150 variety is no carrier of this lethal gene. A better comprehension on photobiological origin, supported by molecular markers and the functional genomics of this mutant can help to identify and understand the factors involve in the photosynthetic mechanisms.
The reality of international business is often a confrontation with failures and difficulties that are a result of a lack of understanding of cultural background, and not market conditions. The ...decision-making process depends on cultural background and choice of "the right way" - decision-making styles are dependent on the values and beliefs of the people involved in the decision-making process. Considering the fact that Western managers often neglect cultural differences present in the CEE context, the objective of this research was to point out the cultural similarities and differences in decision-making styles between Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary. A narrow-sample strategy was used in empirical research that confirmed that cultural values do influence decisions and decision-making styles and the hypothesis was accepted through X2 test analysis between Hofstede's dimensions of national culture and decision-making style.
We develop a browsing support system which learns user's interests and highlights keywords based on a user's browsing history. Monitoring the user's access to the Web enables us to detect ``familiar ...words'' for the user. We extract keywords at the current page, which are relevant to the familiar words, and highlight them. The relevancy is measured by the biases of co-occurrence, called IRM (Interest Relevance Measure). Our system consists of three components; a proxy server which monitors access to the Web, a frequency server which stores frequency of words in the accessed Web pages, and a keyword extraction module. We show the effectiveness of our system by experiments.
A measure of association for complex data types is proposed based on the measure of departure from independence using the
p-value of a statistical independence test. The measure is numerically shown ...to be comparable to Silvey's general measure of association. It is demonstrated with real data sets of complex data types that the measure works efficiently for the decision tree and the logistic regression at the initial stage of variable selection.

In this paper we review the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve, and the
X
2 test statistic, in relation to the analysis of a confusion matrix. We then show how these two methods are ...related, and propose an extension to the ROC curve so that it shows contours of
X
2 values. These contours can be used to provide further insight into the appropriate setting of the decision threshold for a particular application.
The interest for adult diseases with the high aged society, the chance of a group medical examination and physical check are increasing in recent years. So that, we reported the results of persons ...entered Kumamoto central hospital for physical check and mainly statistical analysis of grown-up visual acuity. The persons entered the hospital for physical check were examined 512 cases 1024 eyes during from april 1985 to september 1986. We observed subjective visual acuity by sight-testing of Landolt ring, intraocular pressure by schiötz tonometer, frontal and middle transparent eye body by slit lamp microscope, and funds by ophthalmoscope at the ophthalmic department of the hospital. The physicians examined blood pressure, blood sugar, urine sugar and obesity grade at the internal department of the hospital. The results were as follows: 1. The persons were aged 30-77 years, including aged 40-59 years in 80% of all cases. 2. Neked eye visual acuity of 1.0 or more were 421 eyes (41%) and final corrected visual acuity of 1.0 or more were 897 eyes (88%) in 1024 eyes. 3. Regular visual acuity increased from 30 years old, peaked at 40-49 years old, and gradually dicreased to 50-69 years old. Myopia and myopic astigmatism decreased from 30 years old to high decade of ages. Hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism increased from 30 years old to high decade of ages. Those curved-lines were analysed dominantly between each decade of ages by x2 test. 4. We found mostly cataract in 47 eyes (4.6%) among eye diseases without retinal angiosclerose. 5. Retinal angiosclerose with I grade or more of Keith-Wagener classification were 170 eyes (17%) in all cases. The retinal angiosclerose had dominantly relation to hypertention and diabetes millitus.
