  • District cooling in urban areas [Elektronski vir]
    Poredoš, Alojz ...
The cooling demand in buildings is rapidly increasing in the world. Small cooling units represent the uncontrolled energy consumption with the low energy efficiency. One of solutions is certainly the ... introduction of central cooling systems in buildings. However, the precious space in urban areas, as well as the cost reduction and the demand for the further increase of the efficiency, call for the introduction of district cooling systems. Such systems can efficiently operate in relation to combined heat and power production (CHP) in the so called tri- or poly-generation. In this paper, different types of district cooling systems are presented and discussed. Few selected examples of district cooling systems are briefly described in the paper. The article presents different refrigeration technologies that are applied in district cooling systems and shows an example of the cooling price calculation and comparison for different cooling technologies.
