Utjecaj međupodloge na rast i rodnost jabuke = Influence of interstock on growth and yield of apple

The investigation into the influence of interstock M27 upon growth and yield performance of three apple tree varieties -Elstar, Idared and Jonagold was carried out in environmental conditions near ...Maribor. The apples trees were planted in spring 1985, rootstock MM106 with interstock M27 and rootstock M9 with scions grafted directly on it were used. The spacing was 3.0 x 1.6 m for Jonagold and Elstar, and 3.0 x 1.0 m for Idared. The crown form was a slender spindle. Interstocks of two different lenghts were used and all the varieties were planed at two different depths, standard planting (grafted point 10 cm above the ground), II deep planting (grafted point 5 cm under ground). The experiments was conducted according to the two-factorial RCBD method. There were 7 trees in each of four replications. the investigation into the effect of the interstock M27 on the growth vigour reduction was made and included vegetation growth and yield performance. The results of the investigation into the vegetative growth show significant differences among individual treatments only in the case of Jonagold and Elstar varieties. In all the treatments the larger interstock resulted in the smallest stem diameter. Idared variety was the least affected by different treatments. Also the trees of this variety remained the samllest. Different treatment of other two varieties gav different yields, depending on the vegetative growth and productive volume of trees. The highest yield per hectar was obteined in the case of MM 106 with interstock M27 of 25 cm lenght at deep planting, and M9 without interstock at standard planting.
