  • Čakavian as spoken by four sportsmen from Split

    The author presents Čakavian as spoken by four prominent Croatian sportsmen (Sobin, Ivanišević, Kukoč and Vlašić), all of them either from Split or lived there for a long time, and all of them using ... their local Čakavian vernacular in interviews given to newspaperman. On the basis of the statistical analysis of the phonological, morphological and syntactic variables, the author establishes the degree of usage of the Čakavian. The result of the analysis shows that Čakavian features that identify our speakers as čakavian speakers is their use of the ikavian forms, the change of m>n in verbs, dropping of initial h's, change of hv>f and the use of past participle forms
