    In this article there are gathered the most frequent themes that occur in Prekmurje fairy tales. Considered have been the fairy tales collected by Matija Valjavec (Kračmanove pravljice), Stevan Kuhar ... (Ljudsko izročilo Prekmurja, published together with Vilko Novak), Julij Kontler and Anton Hren - Kompoljski (Narodne pravljice iz Prekmurja volume I and II) and also Milko Matičetov, Karel Krajczar and Dušan Rešek. On the border between the folk literature and classical artificial fairy tales there are fairy tales by Pavle Rožnik (Žalostna kraljična, Slepi bratec, Lepa Mankica). Among the modern fairy tales the most important ones are without a doubt those by Feri Lainšček (Mislice). Prekmurje fairy tales to have quite similar motives and themes to all the other dialectal and national fairy tales. Among the fairy continuiry similar beginnings prevail, black and white painted persons, there are a lot of folk numbers, frequent appearance of typified persons / subjects, the good is rewarded and the evil is punished, ending of the main literary character is asa rule felicitous. According to the main literary characters the tales are divided into realistic, fantastic and animal fairy tales (Stanonik). One can notice four content invariabilities (Goljevšček) and connection to everyday events and occupations (Kropej). Their particularity is above all indicated in some of the fairy characters, furthermore in the connection of a Prekmurje man with the rivers Mura and Raba and in distinctive emphasis on the literary space from which the Prekmurje plain is reflected.
