  • Biogas as promising alternative in natural gas distribution systems [Elektronski vir]
Vasić, Vasilije ; Zupančič, Gregor Drago ; Kokalj, Filip
The natural gas distribution has to fulfill multiple and very complex tasks in terms of quality and reliability of supply for various end-customers. The emerging trends nowadays are renewable ... resources, like biogas from various sources - agriculture, industry and municipality. The biogas production in some countries and local communities reaches such extend that it is possible to supply small communities with closed distribution grid or even to inject some upgraded biogas into the existing natural gas distribution grid. Presented is the experience from the various EU countries in terms of the technical and legal framework, which has to be established to conduct such supply. The biogas supply in the closed distribution grids or its injection into the natural gas grid opens very broad spectrum of production and consumption applications, which are independent from location and makes it even more economically feasible. Discussed are some possible technical solutions for biogas injection and utilization in terms of biogas - production, quality control and storage to cover small peak demands.
