  • On shear lift force modelling for non-spherical particles in turbulent flows

    In this paper we propose a generalized shear lift force model, which is applicable for non-spherical particles in arbitrary shear flows. We show that simplifications of the proposed model lead to ... well known expressions for spherical particles as well as to expressions valid for non-spherical particles in single shear flows. The proposed model is tested in an algorithm for Lagrangian tracking of prolate ellipsoids, mimicking elongated rigid fibers in turbulent channel flow.
