  • Succession of family business : case of catering establishments in east Slovenia

    Family businesses have an important economic role in Slovenia and worldwide. The critical time in the family businesses is mainly managing the succession, defined as transfer of ownership in close ... relation to transfer of leadership, since, according to data, the transfer to the next generation is survived only by one third of the family businesses; many family businesses go bankrupt when the next generation takes over the business. On the basis of the interviews we also came to a conclusion that the age structure of the business owners is high, therefore, 70 percent of businesses are going to have to face the issue of succession in the next few years.
