  • Gear design concerning the lubricant and the temperature of the tooth flank
Pehan, Stanislav ; Flašker, Jože ; Zafošnik, Boštjan
The main scope of modern research work on gear drives is connected with noise, wear, service life, sometimes with efficiency. To manage this secondary effect of power transmission conventional ... calculate procedure is implemented. The presented paper describes a new combined approach for determining the basic gear parameters, which in addition to the classic strength control comprises also important information concerning the lubricant film thickness, sliding velocities, Hertz contact pressure distribution and temperatures in characteristic engagement points. By using the proposed approach the designer can easily make the conclusion about the influence of these parameters on service life of the gears. This theoretical proposal is tested on the practical drives. In some especially bad cases the service live of drives is exceedingly rise by changing the geometrical parameters, which influence the tooth flank temperatures and lubricant thickness.
