Price risks in purchase logistics [Elektronski vir]Nardin, Radivoj ; Rosi, BojanThe article demonstrates the purchase logistics of a company that is facing a big economic crisis the same as many other Slovenian companies. The company is in the business of chemical substances, ... which are obtained by oxidation of oil derivative - orthoxylene. With the beginning of dropping of oil derivatives' prices and simultaneous drop of demand for final products the company faced a situation where sometimes the price of incoming raw material was higher than the price of final product. In order to stay on the market despite the occurred crisis and changed operating conditions, the company needed to change the purchase strategy and adopt the purchase tactic. The objective of every purchase logistics is to deliver goods to a company on time, on the right location and with economically justified expenses. In order to achieve this objective the employees in the purchase logistics must be familiar with all the main processes in the company and with connected risks, as well as with costs that occur during the operation of the company. It was stated after the analysis of purchase costs that the decisive costs of purchase logistic in the company are the cost of transport, purchase price of goods and costs of financing of purchased stock. The company avoids risks in connection with price changes and oscillation of foreign currency by smaller, but more frequent purchases for previously known customers, use of short transport connections and equivalent sales on the dollar currency markets. To minimize the risks connected with exposition towards one supplier, they cooperate with three suppliers, who donćt have any property or other connections and work on different markets at the same time.
