  • Exploring additional possibilities of computer-enhanced language learning

    In today's global marketplace the need to communicate multilingually and cross-culturally is crucial for companies and the industry to sustain their competitive advantage. Moreover, with contemporary ... technology playing an important role in almost every aspect of our lives, these trends need to be taken into account in various fields, including the field of teaching foreign languages for specific purposes. Recently, e-learning has become an increasingly common if not an essential strategy in academic institutions and the Faculty of Logistics of the University of Maribor is no exception. To the contrary, the Faculty of Logistics is well aware how important modern technologies and foreign language knowledge are for the students and is thus trying hard to prepare them to meet the demands of the increasingly competitive and deregulated labour market. This article aims to present the challenges, but more importantly potentials e-learning has to offer in the field of professional foreign language learning and teaching. By taking into account students' general experience, motivation and satisfaction with e-learning from previously undertaken studies, special emphasis will be on the potentials selected Web 2.0 technology gadgets have to offer in the field of foreign language teaching and learning at the Faculty of Logistics to better engage students and thus complement and enhance language lessons.
