    In this work we present the results of laboratory casting trials, in which we continuously cast a nickel-base superalloy IN 713C. We investigated macro-, micro- and nano-characteristics of ... continuously cast rods. It was found that the continuous casting parameters have an important influence on the formation and development of the structure. The alternating drawing mode, which consisted of a drawing stroke, a resting period and a reverse stroke, caused a periodic microstructure. The microstructure comprised of predominantly radially grown directional grains with dendritic morphology. Precipitates [gamma]' were evenly distributed in [gamma]-grains. The alternating drawing mode and the nozzle/mould caused the appearance of inverse segregation. Inverse segregation also occurred as a result of the separation of dendritic grains in the course of the drawing stroke. Because there were no signs of hot or cold tearing on the continuously cast rods, we strongly beleive that a nickel-base superalloy IN 713C is convenient for continuous casting in industrial conditions.
